A Hero in a Demon School!!!!

Chapter 10: Joining the Battler!

It had been a few weeks since Izuku discussed his ambitions with Ameri, and life in the Netherworld had settled into what could only be described as a 'new normal.' Or, at least, as normal as things ever got in a world filled with demons. That was, until one particular morning when he arrived at school to be greeted by an utterly bizarre sight.

"Something's definitely off here," Izuku muttered as he stepped into the Freshmen Tower. The halls, typically buzzing with the chatter and activity of first-year students, were eerily silent. Not a soul was in sight. "Where is everyone?"

'Think there's some kind of event going on that you didn't hear about?' Nana's voice echoed in his mind.

'If there were, Grandpa or Opera would've told me,' Izuku replied, frowning as he pulled out his phone. He quickly dialed the number of the most dependable demon he knew.

After a few rings, a familiar voice answered, already tinged with exasperation. "Izuku, it's way too early for you to be in trouble."

"Relax, Ameri," he chuckled, though a hint of unease lingered in his tone. "I'm not in trouble—yet. I just need to know why the Freshmen Tower is completely empty today."

"Oh, that's because today is Rookie Hunt," Ameri replied casually, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"And… what exactly is Rookie Hunt?" Izuku asked, suspicion creeping into his voice.

"I could explain," Ameri teased, and Izuku could almost hear her smirking on the other end of the line. "But where's the fun in that? Didn't you say you'd accept the Netherworld with all its challenges? Well, consider this one of them." And with that, she hung up.

Izuku stared at his phone in disbelief. "Great. That was absolutely no help," he sighed, ignoring Nana's laughter echoing in his mind.

Before he could dwell on it, the building began to tremble. Deafening cheers and roars erupted from the door connecting the Freshmen Tower to the upperclassmen towers.

"What the—" Izuku barely had time to react before the door burst open with a resounding bang. A mob of upperclassmen flooded into the Freshmen Tower, shouting, "First-years!" "Where are the first-years?!" "Gotta get the best ones!"

Izuku barely had time to process what was happening before a towering, bull-like demon barreled toward him, arm outstretched to grab him. His Danger Sense flared just in time, allowing him to dodge. The demon's face slammed into the floor with an earth-shaking thud, drawing every eye in the room to Izuku.

"Hey, look! It's the honor student!"

"He's the one who fought Azazel to a draw!"

"He's ranked GIMMEL (3rd) already!"

"Get him!"

"He's ours!"

The cries grew louder as the mob surged in his direction, their eyes gleaming with predatory excitement.

"Nope. I'm out," Izuku declared, releasing a thick cloud of smoke to blanket the hall. His Smokescreen effectively blinded everyone in the room.

"What's with this smoke?!"

"I can't see a thing!"

"Hey, stop hitting me, you idiots!"

Taking full advantage of the chaos, Izuku sprinted toward his classroom as fast as his legs would carry him.

******

"What the hell was that!?" Izuku yelled, panting heavily as he stumbled into the Misfits' classroom.

"Hey, look! Midoriya's here," Shax greeted with his usual wide grin, leaning back lazily in his chair. "So, how was the Rookie Hunt?"

"It would've been much better if someone had bothered to explain what the hell is going on," Izuku muttered, gratefully accepting the water bottle Clara offered him. He took a long gulp, trying to steady his breathing.

"See! I told you we should've warned him beforehand," Eiko said, crossing her arms and shooting a sharp glare at Alice.

"Yeah, maybe we should've," Alice admitted, but the mischievous smirk spreading across his face made it clear he had no regrets. "But where's the fun in that?"

Izuku groaned, rolling his eyes as Ameri's earlier words echoed in his mind. 'Of course. All these demons share the same brain cells when it comes to making someone's life miserable,' he thought dryly.

"Hey! That's super mean!" Eiko protested. "You know how he reacts to stuff like this."

"Yeah, he's pretty clueless when it comes to Babyls' traditions," Alice added with a nod, his tone far too casual for Izuku's liking.

"Oi, you two!" Izuku snapped, his irritation boiling over. "Stop badmouthing me when I'm right here!"

Meanwhile, the rest of the class watched their interactions with amused smiles on their faces.

"Anyway," Izuku huffed, deciding to move on, "can someone please tell me what's going on? Why were our seniors trying to kidnap me?"

"That's because of this." Eiko handed him a brightly colored flyer that read: 'Gym Battler: Join us, Freshmen!'

"Battler?" Izuku echoed, tilting his head as he scanned the flyer.

"It's a group activity where students with similar skills or interests gather," Alice explained. "Battlers are a big deal here. They can help you grow, both physically and mentally."

"And there are competitions between battlers," Eiko added enthusiastically. "Doing well can help you climb the ranks."

This piqued Izuku's interest, reminding him of his conversation with Ameri a few weeks ago.

"It also helps you build connections with upperclassmen," Sabnock said, his tone unusually serious. "If you're serious about becoming the Demon King, you'll need allies."

'So, it's like a school club,' Izuku thought. He tapped his chin thoughtfully. 'Come to think of it, U.A. didn't really have clubs, did it?'

'You also didn't interact much with your seniors,' Nana pointed out.

'Now that you mention it,' Izuku mused, 'we never really had joint training sessions or events with the older students. Even the session with the Big Three was just to prepare us for work studies.'

"Izuku, you with us?" Eiko asked, waving a hand in front of his face.

"Oh, sorry." Izuku snapped out of his thoughts, realizing Clara had taken his moment of distraction as an opportunity to stack books on his head. He gently removed them, giving her an exasperated smile. "I was just thinking. But yeah, I'm interested in joining a battler."

"Great! Let's go battler hunting after lunch," Eiko suggested, already making plans.

"I'm coming too!" Clara chirped, throwing her arms in the air excitedly.

"Sounds good," Izuku agreed with a small smile. Then his expression turned serious. "But that still doesn't explain the kidnapping thing."

"It's not hard to figure out," Alice said with a shake of his head, his smirk returning. "Battlers need strong new members to improve their chances of promotion. A freshman ranked GIMMEL (3rd) is very hard to pass up."

"Oh, okay," Izuku said, suppressing the urge to groan. He resisted pointing out that kidnapping students and forcing them to join probably wasn't the best recruitment strategy. Then again, these were demons. They had a knack for adding unnecessary chaos and violence to even the simplest ideas.

As their conversation wrapped up, the sharp sound of footsteps echoed through the hall. Kalego strode into the classroom, his piercing gaze sweeping over the students.

"Enough chatter," he barked, slamming his ledger onto the desk. "Homeroom begins now."

Izuku sighed as he sank into his seat. 'Just another day in the Netherworld,' he thought, shaking his head.

******

Later That Day - First-Year Corridor

It was hell... literally and metaphorically. The first-year tower was engulfed in chaos, with upperclassmen stampeding through the halls, determined to capture any first-year student they could get their hands on. Ever since arriving in the Netherworld, Izuku had witnessed plenty of strange and unpredictable behavior from demons, but this was on a whole new level of barbarism he had seen from any demon around him.

Now, you might wonder how he could maintain such composure while being one of the prime targets of this madness. The answer was simple: they were walking through the chaos surrounded by Alice's blazing flames, which acted as both a shield and a deterrent.

"Thanks, Azz. You're a real lifesaver," Eiko said, pulling Clara back before she could toast marshmallows over Alice's fire.

"Yeah, who knows how many fights I would've gotten into while trying to fend these people off," Izuku added, rubbing the back of his neck. He was confident in his ability to escape on his own, but with Clara and Eiko tagging along, things could have quickly spiraled out of control if anyone had tried to be forceful with them. Asking Alice to join them had been the best solution that came to his mind.

"Well, I don't mind," Alice said smugly, flicking his hair. "But now you owe me a favor, Izuku."

Izuku rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Put it on my tab."

Alice smirked, then gestured toward the end of the hallway. "Besides, we should be meeting the battler that manages the student body any moment now."

As if on cue, the tower doors burst open with a loud bang. The Student Council strode in with practiced precision, their commanding presence silencing the upperclassmen in an instant.

"Step aside!"

"Clear the way!"

"The Student Council is here!"

The members announced their arrival as they marched into the fray.

In no time, Ameri efficiently dealt with the rowdy upperclassmen, putting them in their place without breaking a sweat.

"As expected of the student council president," Alice said, impressed. "She operates on a completely different level."

Meanwhile, Eiko looked at Ameri with stars in her eyes. She admired Ameri, and who wouldn't? Ameri Azazel was one of the few demons who managed to reach VAV (6th rank) and become the president of a battler in their first year. She was strong, beautiful, and most importantly, exuded an air of confidence. In short, Ameri was an inspiration to many students of Babyls, especially to girls, and one of Eiko's idols.

Which was why Eiko froze when Ameri walked directly toward their group, stopping just a few steps away.

"I assume you had a lovely time this morning?" Ameri asked, her tone sharp yet teasing.

Her words confused Izuku's friends and the student council members behind her, but Izuku simply chuckled.

"Well, it was overwhelming at first," he admitted, returning her smirk, "but I made it out with all my limbs intact. Would've been easier if someone had given me a heads-up about what to expect."

"Stop whining," Ameri said with a shrug. "Consider it a test of how well you handle spontaneous challenges." She cleared her throat when she noticed their growing audience and quickly shifted gears. "So... these are your classmates, I presume?"

"Yeah, let me introduce you," Izuku said, gesturing toward his friends. "This is Alice."

"Asmodeus Alice," he said, bowing formally. "It's an honor to meet you."

"And that's Clara," Izuku continued, pointing to the green-haired girl who was still trying to poke Alice's flames.

"Ho! Makka-chan!" Clara greeted with a cheerful wave.

Finally, Izuku nudged a nervous Eiko forward. "And this is Eiko."

"H-hello!" Eiko managed, her voice small as she gave a shy wave.

"By the way, Ameri," Izuku added, grinning mischievously, "Eiko here is one of your biggest fans."

Eiko's eyes widened in horror, and she spun to glare at Izuku, silently pleading for him to stop. Undeterred, he continued, "After our battle, she couldn't stop talking about how lucky I was that you went easy on me. She even knew all about your achievements—"

Eiko stomped on Izuku's foot, cutting him off. Turning back to Ameri, her face glowing red, she stammered, "I-I'm sorry about him!"

To her surprise, Ameri chuckled. "It's flattering to have such a lovely admirer," she said, making Eiko's blush deepen. "But let me correct one thing—I wasn't going easy on Izuku. If anything, we were both holding back to avoid serious injuries."

"Oh, okay," Eiko mumbled, too mortified to look up.

Ameri smiled gently before addressing the group. "The Student Council is also a battler division, and we're currently recruiting members." She handed Izuku a flyer. "I'd love for you to consider joining."

"Thanks. I'll think about it," Izuku said, glancing over the flyer.

"For now, I suggest waiting out this recruitment frenzy before heading anywhere near the classroom tower," Ameri advised. "See you later." With that, she and her council left.

"Well, shall we wait it out in the cafeteria?" Izuku suggested, turning to his friends.

"Not a bad idea," Alice said. "But first—" He pointed at Eiko, who was glaring at Izuku with a pout.

"Oh... hey, sorry about earlier," Izuku said sheepishly. Eiko just huffed, turning her back to him. Sighing, Izuku tried again. "How about I buy drinks for everyone? My treat."

"Sure! I'll take iced tea," Alice said.

"Fruit punch!" Clara cheered.

Eiko peeked over her shoulder. "Can I get ice cream instead?"

"Of course," Izuku said with a smile.

Eiko pretended to mull it over before letting out a dramatic sigh. "Fine. I'll forgive you... for now. But don't think you're off the hook."

Izuku chuckled. "I'll keep my guard up."

The group headed toward the cafeteria, leaving the chaos of the first-year corridor behind them.

******

Classroom Tower

"Wow, this is way more civil than whatever was going on earlier," Izuku remarked as he and his friends strolled through the classroom tower. Unlike the chaotic frenzy of the recruitment drive in the first-year corridor, the upperclassmen here were calmly approaching students, pitching their battlers, and handing out flyers.

Some seniors even came up to Izuku, eager to share details about their battlers. He listened intently, nodding along and asking thoughtful questions, which clearly pleased them. His genuine interest stood out, a refreshing contrast to the usual hurried dismissals they received.

"You know you don't have to entertain every single one of them, right?" Alice asked, his arms crossed as he watched Izuku wrap up yet another conversation.

"I know," Izuku replied with a casual shrug. "But they've put in so much effort. It feels rude not to give them at least a few minutes. Plus, learning about different battlers could be useful and it doesn't hurt to know what everyone is offering."

"Sure, whatever you say," Alice muttered, rolling his eyes. No matter how much time he spent with Izuku, he couldn't quite figure out how his mind worked.

As they continued walking, a new senior approached their group with a confident grin.

"Hey, you're Izuku Midoriya, right?" the senior asked.

"Yeah, that's me," Izuku replied, tilting his head slightly. "What's up?"

"Nothing much. Just wanted to say thanks," the senior said, his grin widening.

"Thank me?" Izuku asked, tilting his head in confusion. He had no idea why a stranger would want to thank him.

"Oh, sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Bathon Baraki, and I'm the president of the Broadcasting Battler," the senior explained. "Let me tell you, Midoriya, your exploits have given us tons of content over the past two months, so I just wanted to express my gratitude."

"Uh... you're welcome, I guess?" Izuku replied, scratching the back of his neck as he tried to decide if he should feel flattered or embarrassed.

"By the way," Baraki continued, holding out a flyer, "we've got some open spots in our battler. If you—or any of your friends—are interested, feel free to stop by."

"I'm interested!" Eiko exclaimed, raising her hand enthusiastically. "I'd love to check it out!"

"Great! Why don't you come with me? I was heading back to our room anyway," Baraki offered.

Eiko hesitated, glancing at her friends. "I really want to go, but I don't want to just ditch you guys…"

"Don't worry about us," Izuku reassured her with a warm smile. "We'll catch up later."

"Thanks!" Eiko beamed before hurrying after Baraki.

As the group moved on, Alice turned to Izuku. "So, any idea which battler you're going to join?"

"Not yet," Izuku admitted. "It's not that the ones I've seen so far are bad; I just haven't found one that really—" Before he could finish, a sudden tug on his hand made him pause. Looking down, he saw the Ring of Gluttony glowing faintly.

"What the—" Izuku started, but before he could react, the ring yanked him forward with startling force. "Crap! Is it acting up again?!" he thought, struggling to regain control. Even activating Float didn't help as he was dragged through the corridor like a human missile.

As he was being dragged by the ring, Izuku noticed a student walking in front of him with a huge, stuffed bag on their back.

"Excuse me! Out of the way! Out of the way!" Izuku yelled. Unfortunately, the student didn't hear him. Before either of them could understand what had happened, Izuku crashed into the student, and now he was on top of them with his hand on their neck.

Now that he could clearly see the turquoise-haired boy, Izuku noticed how pale he looked and how his eyes were on the verge of tears.

'Shit!' Izuku cursed himself and removed his hand from the boy's neck. He was about to apologize, but before he could, the boy who was pinned under him apologized with a stuttering voice. "S-sorry."

Izuku quickly got up and helped the boy to stand up as well. "No, no! I'm sorry for crashing into you like that," he said as he helped the boy to collect his scattered belongings.

"That surprised me, you know! I thought I was going to die," the boy said. "Also, don't worry about me. I have quite a weak body. That's why I often puke blood-" Suddenly, he let out a bloody cough.

'Is he really alright?' Izuku thought to himself. 'He doesn't look like it to me.'

'He reminds me of Toshi,' Nana said. 'And not in a good way.'

'Yeah... I can see the resemblance as well,' Izuku said, as the image of Thin Might crossed his mind.

"That! That's the ring of Gluttony!" Suddenly, the boy pointed at the ring in Izuku's hand. "Which means it reacted to my necklace," he said, pointing at the choker on his neck. The choker had a purple, square-shaped object attached to it. "Because they are made of the same metal."

"Same metal?" Izuku echoed, confused. "What does that mean?"

Before the boy in front of him could answer, two other people showed up there.

"What the hell is this mess!?" one of them said. "You clean this up immediately."

"Hey, wait! That's a senior!" the other boy with him tried to warn him.

"Huh? Oops, wait a minute," the boy panicked for a second before he noticed the badge on their senior's neck. "He is only a BET (2nd rank). I was worried about nothing," the boy said and kicked something on the ground, launching it directly at the senior's face.

The senior closed his eyes and braced himself for the impact, but it never came. He slowly opened his eyes and realized that Izuku had caught the thing right before it could hit him.

"That's enough," Izuku said as he released a little bit of One for All's power to create a green spark around him. "leave right now or I will report you to the student council for assaulting a student."

"What did you say, you little punk?" one of the boys growled, but again, the boy standing next to him stopped him.

"Are you an idiot? That's an honor student. He fought President Ameri to a draw. We don't have a chance against him."

The first boy looked between his friend and Izuku before finally clicking his tongue and walking away in a sour mood.

Then, Izuku turned around and helped his turquoise-haired senior pick up the scattered stuff.

Izuku turned to the turquoise-haired senior, handing him the last of his scattered belongings. "I'm sorry that happened. They had no right to treat you like that."

"It's okay," the senior said with a weak smile. "I'm just a BET rank with low magic power—it's pretty normal for someone like me."

"No, it's not," Izuku immediately denied. "Regardless of a person's rank or power, everyone deserves basic kindness and respect."

Then Izuku's eyes landed on a wooden board lying next to him. He picked that board up and it had, 'Magical Tools Research Battler' written on it.

"Is this yours?" Izuku asked.

"Yeah," the senior said, perking up slightly. "I'm the president of that battler. Do you want to check it out? No pressure, of course."

"Sure," Izuku said with a shrug. "I've been looking for a battler to join anyway."

"Great!" the senior said and started walking, but then he stopped and looked back at Izuku with an embarrassed smile. "Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Amy Kirio. I'm a third-year student. Nice to meet you."

******

"So, this is the Magical Tools Research Battler," Izuku thought as he stepped into a cluttered, far-off classroom. "It's... something else—"

"Sorry about the mess," Kirio said, noticing the surprised look on Izuku's face. "With only two members in this battler, we don't get much time to clean. But since you're here, feel free to take a look around."

Izuku nodded, his curiosity piqued as he started to explore the room filled with all sorts of odd objects and magical tools.

"As you probably already know, magical tools are devices powered by magical energy," Kirio explained as he motioned to various shelves lined with strange artifacts. "Our battler focuses on researching these tools from all eras. We try to replicate them or come up with new creations of our own."

"Let me show you something," Kirio said, grabbing a jade-colored ball from a nearby shelf. "This jade can store magical energy."

He placed the jade ball carefully on a nearby pillow and brought a small demon-shaped paper doll next to it. Then, he began to channel his magic into the jade ball. To Izuku's amazement, the paper doll suddenly sprang to life and began dancing.

"Amazing," Izuku murmured, eyes wide with awe.

But the demonstration didn't last long. "I... have... reached... my... limit," Kirio panted, collapsing to his knees and coughing up a handful of blood.

"Are you okay?!" Izuku rushed to his side, concerned.

"I'll be fine," Kirio said weakly, trying to wave him off. "Did you like the demonstration?"

"Yeah, it was amazing," Izuku replied, still in awe. Anything related to magic fascinated him.

Kirio smiled faintly and stood up with some difficulty. "Well, let me show you something else," he said, leading Izuku to the back of the room. "Ta-da! This is my prototype: the Magic Enhancement Tool, Gabu-Chan!"

"Gabu?" Izuku tilted his head, clearly not understanding the logic behind that name.

Kirio completely ignored his question and continued his explanation. "As its name suggests, it enhances magic, although handling it is quite difficult."

As Kirio kept ranting about the machine, Izuku's eyes landed on a box with many puzzle-like pieces inside.

"What is this?" Izuku asked while keeping his distance, as he didn't want to touch something he wasn't supposed to.

"Don't worry you can touch it," Kirio said and turned around and opened the stomach of the machine, "that was supposed to be a heart-shaped battery for this device. But unfortunately, it fell down and broke into pieces. You probably remember that-" he turned around as saw Izuku standing there with a deadpan expression and completed heart in his hand.

On the other hand, Izuku was desperately holding back his urge to retort, 'even a child could have solved that.'

"You solved it..." Kirio stared at him for a moment, before suddenly cheering. "Wah! That's beautifully done!" He took the heart-shaped battery from Izuku and placed it back inside the machine. "Midoriya, could you get that jade ball from earlier?"

Izuku nodded and retrieved the jade ball. Once he placed it on top of the machine, it immediately started to glow as the machine powered up.

"See, I told you Gabu is a great device," Kirio said with a small smile on his face. "Although its magical energy is weak, it can still boost the magical energy for equipment."

"You know, Midoriya, species with weak magical energies who are born in the demon world have to face many difficulties. Even in a place like a school, rank is the most important thing," he turned towards Izuku with a kind expression on his face. "However, I... someday... if possible, want to create magical tools to help weak demons so they can also be treated fairly with strong ones," Kirio finished and moved towards the different part of the room.

Meanwhile, Izuku stood there with a stunned expression on his face. Kirio's speech reminded him of how his previous world worked, where one's quirk decided one's place in society.
If you were born with a strong, flashy-looking quirk, you were automatically considered a future hero, regardless of your attitude or the horrible things you might do. Someone would always cover for you.

If you were born with a mutant or a 'villainous' quirk, you were already looked down upon, as if you were a villain even at the age of four. Although some managed to overcome that barrier, it didn't erase all the hardships they had endured growing up. And lastly, if you were quirkless, you were at the very bottom, even worse than trash.

Here in the demon world, it wasn't much different either. The distinction between the strong and the weak was very clear in this world as well. Considering the violent tendencies of some demons, he could only imagine the hardships the weaker demons must endure. The only saving grace he could see was the fact that demons could actually change their destiny by climbing the ranks through any means necessary, unlike his old world where one had to win a genetic lottery at birth.

That's why Izuku couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for Kirio's goal. A dream to create magical tools to help weaker demons level the playing field was something Izuku could easily understand and appreciate.

"Kirio-senpai, your goal is really inspiring," Izuku said earnestly.

"Thank you for your kind words," Kirio chuckled, though his expression grew serious. "But please, don't let anyone else hear this. My goal... it could be seen as a threat to the high-ranking demons."

Izuku frowned as he understood the hidden meaning behind those words. He himself had encountered few individuals who would never allow the weak to gain any power.

Then his mind again returned to the conversation he had with Ameri. Right now, he didn't have a solid goal to push himself forward, but that didn't mean he couldn't help others with their goals. Honestly, Kirio's dream sounded like something he would love to help with. And that's why he made up his mind and...

"Kirio-senpai," Izuku said with determination in his eyes. "If you don't mind, I'd like to join your battler."

Kirio blinked in surprise for a moment, then his expression softened. "Are you sure, Midoriya? Someone like you shouldn't waste their time here."

Izuku shook his head. "I mean it. Your goal is inspiring, and I want to help you achieve it."

Kirio was visibly moved, wiping his eyes. "Thank you, Midoriya. Welcome to the Magical Tools Research Battler."

Before he could say anything else, the door suddenly burst open, revealing a tall, curvaceous girl with lime-green eyes and very pale skin. Her hair was white, with a lime-green ombre at the ends, and two pink, flower-like crests adorned her face. Despite her striking beauty, it was the pink, flower-patterned ribbons wrapped around her waist and limbs that stood out most.

"Sorry, Kirio-senpai! I couldn't find anyone to join our battler," she whined as she entered. "We're not going to get any funding now."

Then she looked up and noticed an unknown boy staring at her with a totally lost expression on his face. "Who is this?" she asked, knowing that Kirio was a total loner and had no friends at school.

"This is Izuku Midoriya," Kirio introduced. "He's a new member of our battler." Then, to Izuku, he said, "Midoriya, this is Ume Daki. She's a second-year student and the only other member of this battler besides me."

Before Izuku could greet her, Daki wrapped him in her ribbons and lifted him off the ground. "Midoriya-kun, I'm so happy right now!" she said, beaming. "Now we can definitely get that pending fund from that red-haired idiot!"

"Huh? Kirio-senpai, what's going on?" Izuku asked, a little confused, and with a nervous smile added, "Can you please put me down?"

"Sorry about that," Daki said sheepishly. "My ribbons react to my emotions. I was just so excited about having a new member."

Izuku nodded and turned to Kirio for clarification.

"You see, Midoriya," Kirio explained, "two months ago, the student council cut off our funding because we've only had two members for over a year. They told us we needed at least one more member by today's rookie hunt, or we'd lose our funding forever. And now... well, you volunteering to join us saved us."

"Wait! You volunteered?!" Daki grinned at him. "Now I really like you!"

Izuku's phone suddenly rang, and he excused himself to answer it, stepping to the side.

"Hey, Eiko, how was your visit to the Broadcasting Battler? Are you thinking about joining them?" Izuku asked.

But Eiko's voice on the other end was filled with frustration. "Forget about that! Just tell me where you are right now!"

"Why? What happened?" Izuku asked, suddenly concerned.

"What happened? Are you serious? Azz and Clara are looking for you all over the school," Eiko's voice rose. "They couldn't reach you on your phone. The last time they saw you, your ring just dragged you off somewhere without warning! What's going on?"

"Sorry, I really messed up this time," Izuku grimaced. "Can you do a favor for me? Just get Clara and Alice and meet me in the cafeteria. Can you do that?"
"Fine," Eiko sighed, "and sorry for yelling at you like that. I was just worried when I heard you vanished out of thin air like that."
A faint smile appeared on Izuku's face as he realized that she was just worried about him. "It's okay, I understand," he said. "Anyway, see you in five," he said and ended the call.
Then he turned towards his new club members. "Sorry guys, I need to bounce right now, but I will see you tomorrow after class."
"Don't worry, Midoriya, you are free to go," Kirio smiled at him. "Also, don't forget to submit the proper paperwork for joining the club to your homeroom teacher."
"Thanks, senpai, I won't," he said and ran out of the door.

******

The next day, when Izuku returned, he had Alice and Clara with him. And their reasons... well, Clara simply wanted to stay with Izuku, while Alice couldn't find anything worth her time and decided to join Izuku instead, knowing that troublesome or interesting situations always seemed to follow him around.

And that's how the rookie hunt ended for The Magical Tools Research Club, with them gaining three new members who were happily conversing with Daki, blissfully unaware of their president's true intentions for the upcoming Battlers Party.

To be continued...
