A Dual Crest Summoner In Infinite Summoning World

Chapter 47: Blood River & His Insane Redwild

At last, he exhaled and nodded with,

"I understand your caution. Let me take your measurements. You'll soon grow out of it though—which is why people don't make children's armor. But you're rich now, so you can afford it."

Before Auren could say anything in reply, Tamun raised his hand to stop him and added with a smile,

"Goatshields have done too much for the village—this one is on me. It's your first armor. It is an honor to serve."

Auren did not disrespect the man's generosity and accepted it gracefully. Tamun took his measurements, asked what his preferences were, and then told him it would be ready in a few days.

Auren didn't want the unnecessary weight of added steel, but he didn't want the flimsy leather either. With the strength of an average warrior—even one with slight mastery over the usage of Chi—being enough to cut through leather like paper, steel armor remained the most commonly used protective gear. But he was eight years old—his build wasn't exactly warrior-like.

He was average by his age's standards, with a lean and tall figure. Even Dante wasn't the most muscular or tallest guy in the village. With chiseled muscles, the guy looked like a sculpture made with perfect proportions of body, face, and muscle. With Chi as an added component, the typical 'big means strong' mentality had not developed in this world. More base strength did mean using less Chi to produce lethal force on the battlefield, though—and Chi was a limited force in the human body.

Auren had selected a more balanced set of armor, focusing on protecting his vitals while giving him full mobility.

Auren returned home earlier than he usually did. He had plans to expand on his copy-paste otherworldly business ideas, with gold to invest and do something on a big scale. But until Dante came back and all this noble mess was done with, he decided it was better to stay home and focus on his training.

Making solid pieces of armor with his black particles was too much of a waste of the rare material—and it was too heavy even for Dante to use comfortably. Dante had mentioned that for a Gold-rank summoner, it would be a perfect fit. The weight and toughness it provided would make it invaluable in battle. Even Dante could bend or even break steel with chained, full-power Chi-enhanced punches.

The more weight a blacksmith could add to steel armor, the more quality the product was considered. It had kind of become standard for higher-ranked individuals to use these weighty steel armors. Enjoying the story? Find more at MV-LEMPYR.

Auren, however, could use his black particles to coat some pieces of his armor for added protection. His black bracer was 80% made of black particles. This use would serve him better in case he had to fight Thralls or any rogue villagers trying to use Dante's absence to rob them—or do worse. Auren wouldn't be planning for these worst-case scenarios if they were still broke.

They had gold coins now, and the whole village knew it. Dante must have told others to look after them, but Auren needed to be a hundred percent prepared.

A few days passed by without any notable change. Hanzo and the elders informed everyone about the nobles coming to hunt the Basilisk, and as expected, it was received with both fear and excitement—hopes of earning were ignited in shop owners, innkeepers, and tavern owners. Not that anyone was mad enough to go into the forest despite knowing about the Basilisk, but the few that did so out of necessity were kept under close watch by Hanzo and the other experienced hunters of the village.

Another thing that had changed, for better or worse, was the absence of the white-haired girl from classes and public life. She was still living with her aunt and cousin, but they had spoken to Thomas, saying that due to sickness, Katla would not attend class for a month.

It was obvious now—if there had ever been any doubt—that the white-haired girl and probably her whole family were either running from the law or just avoiding noble presence in general. Auren wondered if Dante knew about that—he must have. It was Dante who had told Auren that the origins of white hair and blue eyes belonged to the Redwilds region.

Either they were criminals or were hiding someone important. Katla indeed was unusually clever and well-mannered compared to the average village kids. Could be the daughter of someone important. There was no news of anything major happening in the Redwilds, though. But then again, for those people, violence was a way of life. So even if something had happened—it wouldn't be given much importance.

Auren had heard stories about the Wilds, most of which had to be fake. Apparently, farming and laws were not very big in the Redwilds. As the name suggested, barons were after other barons like they were bitter enemies. The time of raid was extreme, but even in other years, they constantly fought for borders, resources, women, religions—there was nothing that unified the Wilds other than their bloodthirsty nature.

The Blood Reaver—head of the family that ruled Redwilds—was a pure savage. Unlike other regions, the members of the Reaver family had been killing each other for the position of most favored son of the Blood Reaver. The man had fathered over twenty children over the centuries, with more than seven official brides. His bastards were in every city of the Wilds.

Unlike the earls of other regions, Redwild's earls always attacked neighboring earldoms—even if they were from the Primarch Hold, Dreamland, or the Tempest Coast. They had beef with everyone except Greenvale—which was on the other side of the continent and didn't share any borders.

It wasn't entirely the Redwilds' people's fault, though. Nothing substantial grew in the land of Redwild. They said it was cursed from all the blood spilled by one's kin over the years. The land of the Redwilds was literally dark red in color.

Auren had a hard time believing it without seeing it—but if everyone said it, it had to be true.
