A Dual Crest Summoner In Infinite Summoning World

Chapter 20: Solving Some Issues With Otherworldly Knowledge

This stove was more efficient than open fire. It used less wood, burned hotter, and could be made with clay and a bit of clever shaping.

Surprised and happy with this creation of his, Sable agreed to make a clay oven with chimney draft as he instructed her — that reduced smoke indoors and sped up cooking.

In the next Sunday meeting, with the help of Dante, he managed to demonstrate how to use a simple sand and charcoal water filter to get clean drinking water. He informed Dante it had massive health benefits, but it didn't seem like he believed it truly — he still played along with it though, just like Sable.

There was a man in the village able to summon the purest form of charcoal. The guy had it in abundance; it got a good price too. They didn't need much of it for doing this, though.

Auren also proposed to Dante to raise awareness in the village to make a designated "greywater" trench — redirecting dirty water away from living space with its help, preventing many diseases from happening. Many people in the village had wooden items as a summon, and some blue crest summoners could even shape it a little — with that, it was a very easy thing to do.

Along with that, he also explained to Dante the idea of having a toilet area with an ash bucket — the wood ash could control smell and bacteria in the outhouse or pit. He remained nameless as Dante informed the whole village about how he had managed to remove the bad odour with this method and that everyone should try it too. Ash was also one of the things on the list Auren had made. The guy had an abundance of it — enough for the whole village to use.

Auren, one day, asked Sable when she had brought him to the village to visit Elder Tamun's smithy. She agreed to do it if he called her 'Best mother in the whole world, I love you'. three times. It was the most cringe he had felt since he had made a song for his crush in high school and sent it to her — just to find out she was not exactly interested in males. He did it nonetheless, though, and she brought him there.

After talking with Tamun for a few minutes, Auren convinced the guy to make a reflective backplate to put behind candles and to make wall-mounted candle holders — they would both increase room brightness using burnished metal or polished clay shards, and reduce fire risk, freeing up hands.

An elegant-looking wife of the old scribe could summon polished clay shards.

All of these efforts of his had not gone unnoticed. Seeing most of his ideas come to fruition, his parents did not dismiss his ideas anymore and listened intently whenever he suggested doing anything. Some villagers had also started to notice his not-so-normal behaviour. It took well over a month and a half till he managed to do all of it — these were just small things though, to gain their trust.

The things he truly wanted to do for the village and for himself needed a lot of help from the villagers. He had to do this slowly and as naturally as possible.

He could have suggested doing all these changes before, but he had waited until he had the list of summons in his hand. To his parents, it might just look like he was trying hard to make these 'useless' summons useful because he himself had such 'useless' objects as summons — so they did not ask many questions, which made this much easier for him.

He was still constantly pitied in a roundabout way by his whole family though, for the lame summons.

It was harvest festival time. All villagers started cleaning their houses, building a huge bonfire in the village square, and making sure everything in the village was as proper as it could be — with the Baron coming and all. Auren also slowed down with his 'improvements' — the harvest festival was on everyone's mind; once it was done, he could suggest some of his bigger-scale ideas for the village.

This was his home now. His father was given land here, so this was their permanent residence. He was not too sure of his life here before — but now he had decided to at least give his parents and this village a chance. If he could solve some issues with his otherworldly knowledge, it would both be much nicer to live here and improve the living conditions of these people. It would be a lie if Auren said after two years of knowing them, he did not care a single bit about them.

He was human — even flawed — they were social creatures. And if he had to live again, this time he would live to his fullest, succeed in life, and make something of himself. With his summons, he was heading down the path of becoming a warrior — he was not a person favouring violence, but he had experienced enough of it to use it against people if something seriously wrong was going on.

So he continued practicing his swordsmanship every single day, getting better and better at it. Dante even showed some moves where he could add just a pinch of Chi in certain places of his body and release a much greater force — becoming inhumanly flexible and mobile, even enhancing his senses by directing the Chi near his eyes and ears.

Dante taught him to never use Chi on different parts of the body for more than 4 seconds. There was a huge difference in the backlash if he exceeded that limit and didn't. Still, feeling numb after use was unavoidable, but it was bearable. It was a secret between Dante and him that he was using Chi for swordsmanship — Sable and Granny would never allow it.

Dante made him swear before teaching it that he would only practice using Chi in front of him and never alone. Auren could easily use it without Dante knowing — since no one could see the Chi in his body — but he never did. Dante gave him hours to practice when he came back in the evening. It just felt wrong to ignore such sound advice.
