A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression

Chapter 110

Chapter 110

"What is this?"

Before the startled Sieg could use the power of purification on the bugs, hundreds of them burst out from various places on the mage's body.

Chchchch―

The bugs that emerged swiftly wrapped around the mage completely and began devouring him.

Sieg quickly used the power of purification on the bugs.

Vroooo!

The bugs touched by the golden light let out ghastly screams, vomited black liquid, and burst to their deaths.

Shriek!

However, it was too late, as only a sticky black fluid remained where the mage had been.

Sieg realized through the deceased mage that the place called 'Abyss' was connected to the "Book of the Dead."

"Abyss, book Of The Dead. Both are things I'd never heard of in my past life."

With the mage dead, Sieg had no immediate way of finding more clues about Abyss.

He had no choice but to discover the connectivity with Abyss through the ancient sorcerer and Dario Totolino.

'I must get out of here for now.'

Sieg approached the motionless guardian.

『The guardian's emergency energy supply has ended.』

『Operation is halted until self-charging is completed.』

『Would you like to register the guardian as a summon?』

"The guardian can be registered as a summon?"

『Intermediate administrators have restrictions on the use of guardian functions.』

"What kind of restrictions?"

The system displayed a list of the restrictions.

Sieg read through the contents and frowned.

"With these restrictions, it's practically like it can do nothing but walk."

『Would you like to register the guardian as a summon?』

After some contemplation, Sieg decided to register it as it might still be of help.

『The guardian has been registered as a summon. Please assign a name.』

After a short deliberation, Sieg spoke the guardian's name.

"Let's call it Horus."

Horus was the name of a legendary warrior of the Avian race that Sieg had heard of from Kaiser.

『Guardian Horus has been registered. It will enter hibernation for self-recovery. It cannot be summoned during hibernation.』

As the message displayed, horus was sucked into Sieg's shadow.

'Where do they move to, are they like Gurav?'

Curiosity made Sieg tilt his head.

He had no idea where the items stored in his inventory or summons went and from where they returned.

The only one whose location he was aware of when not summoned was Nahuel, but the method of summoning Nahuel was equally mysterious.

The very concept of the system was beyond Sieg's comprehension, and there were still too many enigmas left unsolved.

'I can't even ask anyone about it.'

Even if he were to ask, no one came to mind who would know the answers.

At that moment, a person from Sieg's past life who had imparted Soul Resonance flashed through his mind.

It was possible that his ancient knowledge-savvy master might know something about the system.

'Even so, I wouldn't want to face him again.'

The tough training in his past life had left Sieg with trauma and a sense of guilt from breaking the oath made with his master.

Even though the oath disappeared with his regression, it remained as a nagging discomfort in Sieg's heart.

'If it's fate, surely we will meet again someday.'

Shaking off his thoughts of the master, Sieg slowly made his way toward the temple entrance.

As he stood before the temple entrance, a massive door barred his way firmly.

The sight seemed strangely familiar.

'Could it be?'

Sieg reached out toward the door and stirred his mana.

『Unlocking the Sky Race's Sanctuary.』

The system message appeared, and the firmly closed door slowly began to open.

"Sky Race?"

Sieg remembered the deceased mage referring to the Guardian as a golem belonging to the heavenly realm.

'Could it be related to that?'

With a puzzled look, Sieg slowly walked through the door.

Inside the temple, contrasting with the outside, a bright light illuminated the space.

It was adorned with unique patterns and carvings characteristic of the Avian race, covering the walls and pillars.

Yet there was something familiar about the structure and shape of this space.

"Isn't it similar to the dragonslayer's Sanctuary?"

Sieg continued walking deeper inside.

The interior, like the dragonslayer's Sanctuary, contained chamber after chamber stacked with over twenty layers of wall space.

Approaching one of them, Sieg opened a coffin.

Inside, instead of a corpse, there lay armor, spears, and shields remarkably similar to the equipment setup found in the dragonslayer's Sanctuary.

『Discovered equipment exclusive to the Sky Race.』

Reading the message, Sieg examined the armor.

It was noticeably different in appearance from the equipment marked as exclusive for the Dragonslayer.

He observed two openings on the back of the Sky Race's exclusive armor.

"Does something come out from here?"

Yet again, he couldn't discern what it was for.

To be safe, Sieg stored one piece of the Sky Race's exclusive armor into his inventory and proceeded further inside.

Surprisingly, the inner structure was reminiscent of the resting place of the Hero King he had seen before.

The crucial difference was that, unlike the Hero King's Sanctuary, there were no separate storage rooms or chambers here.

Sieg stepped onto a platform in the middle of the round space.

A bright beam of light descended upon the platform from the ceiling.

Standing there, Sieg soon witnessed a message display.

『Accessing administrator system』

『Code verification』

『Title Successor of Terakan Draker verified』

『Granted administrative privilege of the 4th Defense Base 'Sky Race's Sanctuary'』

『One administrator record video available for viewing』

『Playing the record video.』

As the video began to play, new images quickly overlapped the space where Sieg stood.

In what he thought was a mere tomb, hundreds of individuals bustled about.

'What is this?'

Amongst them were individuals wearing equipment exclusive to the Dragonslayer, those adorned in armor for the Sky Race, as well as elves, dwarves, and beastmen preparing for battle.

Every corner of the space was filled with weapons of war, supplies, and magical machineries.

Only then did Sieg understand what the term "defense base" meant.

Looking around with a bewildered expression, Sieg noticed a mess of screens and texts on the altar he had been standing on.

It resembled a magical video device used by the mages of Delfoa but portrayed the images in far more detail and in a three-dimensional manner.

Someone approached Sieg at that moment.

Judging by the robe, he seemed to be a mage.

He spoke to Sieg.

"Captain. The scouts have spotted the enemy."

Startled by the sudden interaction, Sieg was thrown off balance.

However, a different voice spoke from within Sieg.

"What's the size of the enemy?"

"Ten large-scale, twenty mid-scale, and four hundred small-scale units. The number of monsters cannot be accurately counted."

"No dragons?"

"Fortunately, no dragons."

After a momentary silence, the man with Sieg inside opened his mouth.

"Deploy red ten, blue fifty, and purple one hundred in five squads at key points. Mages support the knights with long-range weapons from within the base."

The mage nodded.

"Understood."

At that moment, an elf clad in battle gear approached hurriedly.

"Captain! A dragon, a dragon has appeared!"

The mage exclaimed in shock.

"Damn it! What's its size and color?"

The elf shouted loudly.

"It's a red adult with a single pair of wings."

The mage ground his teeth and said.

"Captain, if it's a red adult then..."

"It's probably Leto."

Sieg's body moved independently as he spoke.

"I'll take Leto. The rest deal with the demonic beasts as instructed."

The mage nodded at his words.

"Understood."

Crash!

Rumble!

Suddenly, the entire temple shook with an enormous impact.

The mage screamed towards the troops.

"They're attacking! Everyone to your positions! Heine! Select the personnel to deploy! Take red ten, blue fifty, and purple one hundred! I'll personally lead the mages!"

The elf next to him answered.

"Understood!"

As the mage and elf moved elsewhere, the man, in whom Sieg was overlapped with, raised his wrist.

A bracelet shimmered and summoned a spirit beast.

Vrooooo!

A winged horse appeared in front of him.

A message suddenly sprang before Sieg's eyes.

『Summoned the sky horse Pegasus.』

"Pegasus, let's go."

The man mounted Pegasus, the dubbed spirit beast.

Riding the winged horse, he ascended to the temple ceiling.

『Opening ceiling of the 4th Defense Base.』

Whirr!

The ceiling opened, and Pegasus flew outside at high speed.

Sieg, overlapped within the man on Pegasus, experienced the event as if it were real.

Seeing the sight beyond the temple was unbelievable.

The sky was filled with thick red clouds obscuring the sun, and countless monsters swarmed the land like an army.

Amidst them, colossal demonic beasts appeared.

Roarrrrr!

As if a mountain was moving, ten giant demonic beasts advanced towards the base.

At that moment, Sieg spotted a massive pair of fiery orbs floating in the sky.

At first, he thought there were two suns in the sky.

But upon closer inspection, they turned out to be the eyes of a massive dragon.

Rooooooar!

At the dragon's roar, even the monsters and demonic beasts halted in fear.

Yet, the man on Pegasus didn't waver in the face of the dragon, withdrawing the sword strapped at his back.

He unfurled the chains wrapped around his wrists.

Driving Pegasus forward, he charged at the dragon.

"Haaaa!"

He unleashed a powerful sword strike at the dragon.

Sieg realized what the strike was.

'Dragonslaying Art. It contains the essence of the True Dragon Sword Art...'

He knew that only one person in the world had properly mastered the True Dragon Sword Art besides him.

'Terakan Draker?'

Sieg realized that he was embodied within the legendary Dragonslayer, Terakan Draker.

Terakan Draker extended his left hand toward the dragon.

The chains wrapped around his arm extended infinitely.

Those long chains coiled completely around the dragon's body.

The dragon twisted its body to shake off the chains.

Roarrrrr!

When that failed, the dragon opened its maw wide towards Terakan Draker.

It unleashed a torrent of flames.

Fwooosh!

The dragon unleashed a breath of fire as if to scorch the entire world.

Boom!

Sieg, overlapped in Terakan's body, also felt like he would be burnt by the fiery breath.

"Argh!"

Just as Sieg turned to avoid the inferno, he blinked and found himself back in the original space.

"Whew..."

The vividness was so intense, it felt as though he had truly battled a dragon.

Sieg realized that this was the defense base of the Allied Forces led by Terakan Draker.

The revelation left him confused by the past records differing from the Dragonslayer's legend he knew.

"All I knew was the evil dragon Bahamut led monsters to invade the human kingdom. I never imagined such a large-scale war took place."

There were too many secrets about the Dragonslayer legend that remained untold.

Sieg resolved to uncover what secrets the Draker family was hiding.

"Wait, now that I think about it, wasn't the system message also present when I was Terakan Draker?"

Whether it was due to his influence or because Terakan Draker was also a system administrator, a system message had clearly appeared in the record.

"Could it be that I am not the only system administrator?"

If there were other administrators who could use Karma Points besides him, discovering their identity could unravel the mystery of the system.

'But I hope they're not an enemy.'

Like Terakan Draker, Sieg examined the altar.

In the recorded moments, various screens like magical video devices were scrambled above it, but now it appeared as just a plain circular table.

Sieg tentatively placed his hand on it and stirred his mana, triggering a reaction.

『Title Successor of Terakan Draker verified』

『Proceeding with succession measures』

Vrooooo!

Suddenly, the table split into four parts.

From within, a sealed box emerged.

"What is this?"

Slowly, Sieg opened the sealed box and was astonished by its contents.
