Chapter 6: 6. Front Row Fantasy
Tonight was the Seventeen concert, and Kirti and I somehow scored front-row seats, practically right at the edge of the stage. The anticipation crackled in the air, and as the lights dimmed, the crowd erupted into cheers. Kirti and I joined in, but I could barely focus on anything except him.
The music started, and one by one, each member appeared on stage, their energy palpable. The crowd was wild, but when Mingyu took center stage, he commanded every eye, mine included. He moved with an almost magnetic confidence, his gaze sweeping over the crowd until, just for a moment, it locked onto me. I could feel my heart pounding, and Kirti's excitement next to me only made it all the more electric.
"God, look at him," I muttered, barely audible over the music.
Kirti leaned over, grinning. "I'm telling you, he'll see us. Just wait."
She held up the sign she had crafted with absolute dedication, big, bold letters that read Remember Us. And then, as if fate was in our favor, Mingyu's eyes flicked over to the sign. I saw his smirk from where I stood, a knowing, mischievous smile that thrilled me.
Without warning, Mingyu stepped down from the stage. The crowd hushed, the beat of the music pounding in my chest as he made his way toward us. Kirti's hand flew to her mouth, but I couldn't move. He stopped right in front of me, his face inches from mine, his breath warm against my ear as he leaned in.
"Yes, I do, baby," he murmured, his voice deep and smooth, sending a shiver through me. "In so little time."
His eyes lingered for a second longer, full of a teasing challenge. My face felt like it was on fire, and before I could even respond, he winked and moved back to the stage, sliding effortlessly into the choreography as if nothing had happened. My mind was reeling, and the roar of the crowd faded into the background.
"Did that just happen?" I whispered, half to myself, half to Kirti.
Kirti's eyes were wide with excitement. "It totally did! He came right up to you. Did he call you baby?"
"Yeah," I said, laughing breathlessly, still processing. "I think he did."
Seungkwan notice us, and stepped down the stage. Mingyu's gaze landed on me, his eyes full of amused curiosity, and I swear my heart skipped a beat. He nudged Seungkwan, and they shared a quick, knowing grin before they both stepped off the stage and headed our way.
The crowd around us buzzed with excitement, and I felt my cheeks heat up, but I didn't let go of the banner. This was our moment, and I wasn't going to back down. Seungkwan stopped right in front of us, extending the mic with a playful glint in his eye. "Alright," he said, his voice booming and teasing. "Let's see what you've got!"
Without missing a beat, Kirti took the mic, her excitement so strong it felt like it could set the whole place on fire. She grinned at me, and before I could even react, she started singing, her voice ringing out with bold, raw energy as she hit the lines "Jinjihande tteungeumeopjiman Tteungeumeopjiman, woah-oh-oh* oneul nan marya" I laughed, clapping along and feeling the crowd's energy lift us up, making everything feel surreal and electric.
The rest of the concert passed in a blur of lights, music, and cheers. My eyes never left Mingyu, though. I was drawn to him, the way he moved, his confidence, the effortless charm he wielded like it was second nature. Every look he cast toward the front row felt like it held a secret only we shared.
After the final song, Mingyu's gaze found mine again as the members took their bows. A sly smile played on his lips as if to say, See you soon. I couldn't help but smirk back, feeling bolder than I ever had. Kirti gripped my arm, practically bouncing with excitement as the crowd began to disperse.
"That was insane!" she gushed, still clutching the sign. "He came right up to you. He didn't even have to—he just did."
"Maybe he was as curious as I am," I replied, a hint of mischief in my voice. I wasn't sure where this was going, but I knew one thing—I was hooked.
Back in our hotel room later that night, Kirti and I replayed every detail, laughing, teasing, and letting the thrill of the night sink in. Whatever happened next, one thing was certain: I had Mingyu's attention, and this was only the beginning.
