Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Ryoko
"Who are you? There's no way you're a member of the CCG!" exclaimed Touka, her eyes turning cold and vigilant, any suspicious movement from Lucian and she would immediately activate her kagune
"Who am I? Good question, but are you prepared to get the answer?" asked Lucian, his deep eyes seeming to look deep into Touka's soul.
Well, that was largely nonsense... at least in Lucian's opinion.
Although, in the world of Tokyo Ghoul there are no demons, so the arrival of a demon king would be a big surprise.
"Stop this nonsense and say it!" Touka's voice rose to match her anger.
"How impatient, you're not cute at all. But without further ado, I formally introduce myself: I am the great Lucian, the magnificent demon king!" Making his familiar greeting, he introduced himself in a pompous manner.
The first step when making a presentation is to ensure the audience's attention, and now that everyone was paying attention to him, he was going to start his show.
This pompous way of introducing himself and his haughty words, containing a great deal of self-praise, were intended to make the other party drop their guard.
... It certainly wasn't because Lucian wanted to satisfy his chuunibyou and act a bit like Tsukiyama.
"Returning to the previous subject, you know that Anteiku won't be able to protect you, so you have two options left: you can cover up perfectly, which is quite difficult considering that the CCG has already caught your husband; and the second option is to get the protection of someone powerful enough."
Ignoring the strange expressions on the faces of the Anteiku employees, Lucian continued his speech, addressing Ryoko.
He knew what she would choose, after all, in this world Ryoko could hardly survive on her own and previously she had depended completely on her husband to carry out the hunt.
".... I imagine you know this powerful person." Even though she was speechless for a moment, Ryoko was still able to see what Lucian was getting at.
"Correct!"
"And I imagine that someone is you." Ryoko continued.
"Correct again!" Lucian cheered.
"Unfortunately there's no prize." He concluded, a little dejectedly.
"But I don't understand why you would do that," said Ryoko, her hesitation clearly displayed on her face.
It didn't make sense that a person who was unknown to them until recently would offer to help them in such a simple way.
As the saying goes: when alms are too much, even the saint is suspicious.
And it's often the free lunch that costs a lot.
"Guess what, I might have seen some hidden potential in the young Hinami or perhaps I was charmed by the charm of a beautiful widow, or even further, was I charmed by the youthful charm of her daughter? It could be that I sympathized in some way or that I have terribly dark plans."
"... Any opinions Hinami?" Hearing Lucian speak, Ryoko was once again left speechless, she felt that this man might be crazy like many others.
But she knew that without someone's help, she and her daughter would end up suffering a lot, so to make the final decision, she simply asked Hinami for her opinion.
Hinami watched Lucian carefully before saying: "I feel he won't hurt us."
In other words, Hinami agreed.
"But, onii-chan, are you really a demon?" she asked curiously, her sparkling eyes possessing the incredible ability to melt Lucian's heart.
"Yes." Lucian nodded.
"So that's why you smell so different?"
"I think so, but to be able to tell that just by my smell is really incredible." Lucian complimented, in Tokyo Ghoul Hinami could locate a person in a large, crowded building by hearing.
Her sense of smell was able to smell her father, even if he had already been turned into a quinque, and her eyes could accurately track high-speed movements over great distances.
"Is there anything else you can say?"
Hearing this question, Hinami approached and sniffled at Lucian.
"... You recently killed a ghoul... and before that you had close contact with at least four different women."
Hinami described, her words making the expressions of those present change significantly.
Whether it was because he had recently killed a ghoul or because of his close contact with at least four women.
"So he's a bastard?" Contempt appeared on Touka's face, her tone even more aggressive than before.
"T-maybe that's not it, they could just be friends..." Off to the side, Kaneki tried to appease her, he didn't like violence and naturally didn't want fights in the café.
"No, Kaneki-kun, and those women aren't my friends, they're my harem." Lucian stopped him, raising his thumb, his smile wide.
"Harem!?!" Upon hearing these words, surprise appeared on the faces of Ryoko, Touka and Kaneki.
These words implied that all the women knew each other, something that is much more difficult than going out with them in hiding.
In comparison, Hinami just looked around a little confused. Even though she was a teenager, she lived in relative isolation, so she didn't know many things.
"Yes, four beautiful women and I'll soon be adding to my harem," said Lucian, pride evident in his words.
He was referring to Nakime, who would soon also become one of his wives. The dynamics of their relationship were a little strange... some would say that all of Lucian's relationships are strange...
It's simple companionship, she played the biwa and he listened, and somehow they gradually grew fond of each other.
But in Ryoko's ears, those words fell differently.
'He offered to help us... along with the words earlier... so that was the point,' she thought, blushing as her thoughts became more complicated.
Of course, the others present made no such connection.
"So you all know each other and agree on this?" Kaneki asked, wanting to confirm what he had heard.
"Exactly!"
And with confirmation, Kaneki could only feel envious and sigh at how unfair the world is.
He had only asked one woman out on a date, and she wanted to eat him, while others already had four girlfriends.
"Back to the point, I'll protect them as best I can." Adjusting his posture and changing the subject, Lucian assured Ryoko and Hinami.
"Well, so as not to disturb your schedule, I'll be right there," he said, walking towards the door.
"Didn't you come to talk to the manager?" asked Touka.
"I think he's got the message."
Touka nodded, even if she didn't understand, she could just accept that, but then, looking at the table where Lucian was sitting, she realized something.
"Hey! You didn't pay!"
"Put it on my tab," Lucian said, before suddenly speeding up and disappearing.
"Fucking deadbeat!" Touka cursed.
....
As someone from another world, Lucian simply wasn't broke in the world of Tokyo Ghoul, and he couldn't pay for a cappuccino with gold.
Yes, gold was the only form of "currency" in Lucian's hands.
'Now that the castle of infinity has been liberated, I can enter it again.' And then Lucian disappeared, traveling into the castle.
Looking around, he saw that everyone was frozen, as if stopped in time.
But that only lasted a moment, as everyone quickly returned to normal.
"... Are we there yet?" asked Mitsuri, looking confusedly at Lucian, she hadn't felt a thing.
"We have, in fact it's been a few hours, haven't you noticed anything?" Lucian analyzed his wives' faces.
After all, he didn't know what effects traveling between worlds could have on other people.
"No... it's like we just blinked." Shinobu tried to describe.
"Hmm... that must be because of time dilation."
