A Dark Fantasy Spy

Chapter 142

“That’s more chaotic than I imagined!”

I thought being a Count meant having a respectable title and a hefty purse, but alas, that was a total misconception.

“I don’t want to eat this!”

“Aida, there are a lot of people outside who are starving, and they’d be grateful for even less than this. Stop your whining!”

My little sister Aida flung the bread aside and burst into tears while our father, Count Bradley Somerset, gave her a serious talking-to.

I took a look at the food set before me, contemplating how a noble’s dining table could resemble that of an ordinary family’s.

On the table was a thin, mysterious soup and bread that was as hard as rocks.

Definitely not the kind of meal that could tempt even a child!

Determined to have a bite, I tried to dip the bread into the soup, but just as I tore it apart—

Crack!

Was that the sound of wood cracking I just heard?
