Chapter 6: 6. Exile
It was morning the next day when it was time for him to leave the Clan territory. He has made sure to pack the essentials only, clothes, rations since he doesn't know how to cook very well, a few maps, water, medicine and other things.
After he was done packing, he had went to get a sword for himself, as since he is being exiled, he does need a weapon to use. And he didn't have any problems in getting one as he trained with it to familiarise himself with it and make sure that he doens't fumble when using it as it is very different from a wooden sword.
He also saw his sisters, but he never approached them nor did they approach him and kept their distance. After that he spent the remaining time charting out a path for him to go from home and then with Mary, until finally he slept for the final time in his bed.
And now it was time for him to leave the mansion as he strapped the sword to his waist on the left side and has his bag as well. He didn't wear any ornaments as he didn't like them and was wearing clothes ready for travelling, with armor underneath for protection. He also wears armor on his forearms and legs as well.
He looked at the small group of people who were there to see him off. His sisters, Mary and finally his own mother as she came forward and stood in front of him as he felt nervous.
She raised her right hand and opened it to show a gold medallion with their Clan symbol on it. The symbol was the left side of a roaring lion, with a sword and lance behind it in a cross. This was the symbol of the Dawnbringers and he was surprised at seeing it.
"This will offer you protection, after all, the blood of the Dawnbringers flows through you. However, it's only meant for your protection. If we were to know that you have abused it, then there will be punishment." Aurelia said to him as he nodded and gently took it.
He looked at it with wonder before he was handed a pouch as he blinked and looked inside it as his eyes widened as he saw gold coins in it.
"There are 100 gold coins in the pouch. I'm sure that you have also procured money for yourself, but gold coins have much greater value." Aurelia said to him as he nodded.
He has taken copper, bronze and silver coins, but they were as valuable as gold coins. Copper is 1, Bronze is 2, Silver is 5, Gold is 10. It was as a simple system, but it is an effective one which has been used for a long time. He put the coins in his vest as he patted it down.
He then made sure to keep the medallion inside his clothes on his chest as he looked at his mother. But she didn't say anything and just looked at him. He looked at his sisters and they were also watching him coldly, but they didn't do anything else.
He finally looked at Mary who was standing behind them all as she looked at him worried as he offered her a smile. She saw it and gave him a bow, though he could see some tears in her eyes. But he knew that he couldn't do anything and so he turned around and walked away.
His family watched him go away until he was out of sight before they went back inside, with Mary slowly following them as she looked at the direction that he went before she walked inside as well.
'Master Armaros, I pray that you will be fine.' Mary thought to herself as she walked through the corridors of the mansion.
Meanwhile Armaros himself is walking while navigating using the map he has after he exited his Clan's territory as he made his way to a nearby village which was quite a long walk as it was noon by the time he reached the village.
He reached the outskirts of the village as he smiled to himself as he walked there. The guards stationed at the gate eyed him but didn't say anything as he walked inside the village, since he is a child and more or less looked like a traveller.
There was also the fact that since this is the mediaeval period, more or less, 12 year old children were seen as being close to being adults and seeing children of his age adventuring isn't an uncommon sight.
The village is fairly small, but it was enough for him. He went to a restaurant and ate some food, then gathered some information nearby towns and villages before he decided a destination for himself. He didn't linger in the village for too long as he wanted to make his way while there is daylight.
He also knew that safety in a small village is not guaranteed and for a guy like him who has been living in a mansion for all of his life, he didn't want to risk it. So he made a beeline towards the closest and bigger village, though he decided to take a break near a forest, he was not going to risk taking a break inside a forest and let down his guard.
After he was done with his break he made way through the forest as he kept his eyes peeled for anything unusual while also being ready to draw his sword at a moments notice. And so far he has only seen small birds and critters which caused him to feel a bit safe.
Though that feeling went away when he couldn't spot anymore small animals as he became nervous as he made his way through the forest. While he could try to pass by rounding the forest, it would take more time that way and he didn't want to waste any.
'I just hope I don't encounter anything dangerous.' Armaros thought to himself as he walked.
He walked and felt a bit more calm and safe since he didn't find or encounter anything dangerous. But he squinted his eyes a bit as the path has some bushes in front of it as he cleared them out using his sword but then he came upon a clearing as his shoulders slumped at what he say.
"You gotta be kidding me." Armaros said as he saw a bear monster waking up.
The bear monster was sleeping in the middle of the clearing, but it was awoken when he came through the path as it yawned and then looked at him. And he couldn't help but gulp when he saw it snarl at him and growl as it stood up.
"I just had to tempt fate." Armaros said to himself as he looked at its sharp teeth and gulped nervously.
'Why couldn't it be a normal bear?' Armaros thought to himself as he looked at it.
The monster roared at him before it ran towards him, and he felt fear as the bear is much larger than normal ones and it also didn't help that it's eyes were red as it ran towards him.
'Nope!' Armaros thought to himself as he made a normal light sphere with his left arm as he pushed through the pain as he created it and filled it with Mana.
He didn't give the bear enough time to react before he shot it at its face and the last thing it saw was the sphere shooting towards it before to was hit and was engulfed in an explosion as it cried out in pain and smoke covered it.
Armaros looked nervous as he looked at the smoke, thinking that it might've just been defeated. Only for the bear to appear, it's face and upper body having been singed by the attack as it became more angry as it's speed increased.
"Holy shit!" Armaros cried out at the speed it which it reached him.
He immediately ducked as it swiped it's powerful claws at him as it created a wind from the sheer force with which it attacked. He looked up and not missing a beat stabbed it's neck from under it.
He pushed with all his might and stabbed the sword right through its neck and into its head as it cried out and tried to attack him as blood gushed out of its wound.
'Attack attack attack!' Armaros thought to himself as he placed his right hand near the wound.
He immediately made a Holy Light sphere and even though it burned him, the attack did its job as it tore through its next and completely severed it's head off its body as it's neck was shredded.
His grip on his sword loosened as he had to let it go as the dead body of the bear fell on him as he grunted and tried to keep it up. He slowly moved out and then let the body fall as he looked at it with wide eyes and then at his arms which were shaking.
'Shit, I didn't even use our family sword technique since I was too afraid. I was lucky!' Armaros thought to himself as he felt his heart pounding inside his chest as he sat on the ground.
"Damn it. God damn it." Armaros said as he grit his teeth at his reaction as he looked down, saddened at how he had reacted to the situation.
'They were right. I really am weak. Both in mind and body.' Armaros thought to himself as he sat on the ground.
