A Bar a Vampire and the Apocalypse

Well I got at least one thing out of that speech. It was how Sarah found out I was a vampire. A stupid basic skill I had no idea existed. But that aside, what the president said was true. What was important yesterday is no longer important. All that matters is moving forward.

“So what did you think about the address Sarah.” I asked. Looking at her she sat next to me like a statue.

“Hey are you ok?” Shaking herself out of whatever funk she was in she answered me.

“Oh sorry, it just hit me. Life will never be the same. What he said, what I now know about you, the changes constantly happening all around us. It's all finally hitting me.”

Hugging her again I said “Hey it’s alright. We will get through this and come out better and stronger on the other side. Now Miss LitRPG expert, I need to pick your brain for information.”

Giggling a bit with tears still in her eyes she said “Ok what do you want to know.”

“Well what should I know? I have no idea where to start.”

“Hmm well if you haven't yet I would recommend looking over all your abilities.”

“Ok I will look at the rest of my abilities. Do you want to know them too?”

“I have a feeling it would be best if I didn't for the time being.”

“Ok while I'm looking at my abilities, think of any questions you have for me.”

Sarah nodded and I looked back at my system and ability list.

Paralytic Injection

With your vampire fangs you can inject a paralyzing venom and numbing agent into a person to keep them from moving while you drink their blood. This also can have a slight aphrodisiac effect

Short and sweet. But nothing I did not already know. Moving on.

Progenitor

You are one of the oldest vampires. You may not be of the first generation but you were turned by one of the first generation. Now that all of the first generation of vampires are gone those they directly turn are now the progenitors of the race giving you unique abilities within the vampire family. All vampires of lower stature can be suppressed by extending your will on to them. You have the ability to make pure blooded vampires though purposely injecting blood into another living being. People consuming or injecting your blood into them will not turn them. Only your direct involvement can do that. You also as a vampire and a progenitor at that, have the ability to rapidly regenerate. World breaker system Effect: You will gain a small amount of all experience gained from all vampires that are descendants of you. When you die your oldest direct living born descendant will gain the progenitor ability if you have no born living descendants the first living turned descendant will gain the ability unless an heir is appointed.

Oh so that old bastard passed now did he? Good riddance I hope it was a painful death. That though aside wow. I did not know I could do most of that. Well I knew I could turn others into vampires. But I did not know I could press my will on to other low ranked vampires huh. Too bad I did not turn too many vampires in my day or the world breaker part would be really nice. I don't think I have more than 12 living “descendants” so I can't imagine I would gain much out of it. Speaking of descendants, I should probably check in on the only two I can stand before the end of the day. I guess I should appoint an heir just in case. With how crazy the world is bound to get it might not be a bad idea. Also, I hated my oldest turned. Ungrateful evil piece of shit. Don't need him making a vampire army after he reads what the world breaker effect does.

Undegradable

You will never degrade in strength or skill no matter how long it has been. Not stretched in 100 years? Well you can still do a perfect split without having to think. Not ran in 2 years? you can still run a marathon like you have been training for it. Not lift a sword in 50 years. Well that muscle memory is just as good as when you were at your peak because you still are and forever will be. World breaker system Effect: All foreign status debuffs are 75% less effective on you.

It is nice not having to consistently train for things but at the same time it does make it so there are less things to fill the day. I wonder what the status debuff thing is about?

Unique Pallet

As a vampire you are required to drink a certain amount of blood. Should you go without blood for too long, you will slowly start to fall into a blood fury and lose most of your self control. While you are in a full blood fury most skills and abilities will be disabled, and you will gain a rapidly decreasing physical stat effectiveness buff of 1000%. It will decrease at 1% per second. If you have not gotten enough blood to break your state before the buff has degraded you will start to permanently lose 1% of all your stats (excluding wisdom) per second until you either drink enough blood or they run out in which case you will die.

To say I was scared shitless would be an understatement. I had always been good about making sure I had drunken proper amounts of blood but to think such a thing would happen is scary.

Well that's the end of the racial abilities and I feel like I need a break. Getting out of bed I go to my dresser to finally get dressed. I don't need Sarah to see me in my underwear all day.

“Are you done looking over your abilities?” Sarah asked as I removed myself from her side.

“No, I just got done with my racial abilities. I don't know about you but I have 11 of them and I didn't even know the full extent of what all of them did so it was a bit shocking reading some of them.” I answered

“What!?!?! 11?! I only have 6 and I'm guessing that's not much different for most humans!” Sarah exclaimed.

“Really? Well I know a few beings that are likely to have more than me. Hmm I wonder how Esmeralda is doing. I have not seen her in over half a century.” I mused

“Who is Esmeralda?” Sarah asked

“Hmm well she will most likely come out of hiding because of this so I see no point in keeping it from you. She is a giant green dragon who lives in Greece. Really nice lady. I should really have visited her but I kept putting it off.” I said

“Did you say dragon!?!?!?” Sarah yelled

“Hey no need to be yelling and yes. Not all the ancient myths and legends are made up. There are things out there that if they all showed themselves the world would have a similar reaction to what is happening now. But now that the world is changing in such a way they might just show themselves.”

All she could come up with was “oh”.

I finished putting on my clothes, some black jeans and a white tank top, and headed back down the stairs as the lights came back on.

“Oh cool I guess they rerouted the power. In that case, do you want some breakfast? I know I need something to eat after this crazy morning.”

“Yes please!”

I lived upstairs from my bar. The building was 2 floors. It was sizable enough to have a nice kitchen, living room, full bath and 2 rather large bedrooms, one of which I used as an office. I think I got a nice place. I managed to find a lot in the Long Beach area of California. It cost a pretty penny, but you tend to gather quite a bit of wealth when you have been around for over 2000 years so it was nothing much for me.

Walking into my kitchen which doubles as a dining room, I started on a basic American breakfast. Bacon eggs and pancakes. Sarah helped me with the pancakes while I made the bacon. It was pleasantly normal. But how much longer we would be able to do that I don't know.

After we finished cooking we sat down on the couch in my living room to eat. I turned on the news.

“This one makes 784 known land transformations with 200 of them being confirmed as dungeons.” A news anchor points at a world map with red and blue dots on it.

“There does not seem to be any consistency or pattern to where these events happen. We can only project about…” I tuned it out as I started to go over my earned and born abilities.

Ambidextrous

You have learned to move your body perfectly. You do not have a dominant hand side or anything of the sort.

That took a long time to get down. Especially seeing that I did not start working on it until after the turn of my first millennia.

Contortionist

You are so flexible that some people might find it disgusting. You can bend your body easily in ways that would break normal humans.

That was surprisingly easy to achieve. Maybe I'm one of those naturally flexible people or something I don't know.

Echoic Memory

You perfectly remember everything you hear and can recall it with a thought.

Yup already knew that one. Moving on.

Endless Endurance

You have ran, fought and fucked longer than any normal human could ever do. You have endurance that would make Olympic marathon runners look as though they could not run a hundred meter dash. World breaker system Effect: While you are in a fight or a high stress situation you will not falter no matter how long it goes on. While everyone around you is passed out from exhaustion you will still be going. Once you are no longer in the fight or high stress situation you will shut down and pass out for 1 hour for every 5 mins you were past your max endurance. Secondary effect: Stamina stat is 4 times more effective.

I really did not need to read that first line. I'm not some sex craving animal… anymore… But the world breaker effect could be really useful. I just hope I never need to use it. And this is the first skill that has two world breaker effects huh.

Hidden in Plain Sight

You have lived side by side with humans and have not been found out for over 2000 years. You have mastered the ability to seamlessly slide into any environment and culture you come across. You are the wolf in sheep's clothing that has never been caught. World breaker system Effect: You have the ability to change what people see when they use identify. Only someone with an Epic tiered or higher identify skill or similar skill of same or greater tier can see past the changes.

“YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!” I screamed. Startling Sarah. She asked

“Is everything all right?”

Frustrated, I said “Yes everything is dandy. I just found out I had an ability that would have kept you from finding out I'm a vampire. Stupid system.”

“Oh well that's a good thing is it not?” Sarah asked

“Yes yes it is. I just would have been nice not to have freaked you out and told you on my own terms. Hey can you tell me when what you see when you identify me changes.” I said

“Yeah of course.” she said. Looking at my ability list I realized I had no idea how to use it.

“... how do I use my abilities?” I asked. Sarah chuckled a bit and said “I assume using skills and abilities is the same so just think about it I guess.”

“Really it's that simple.'' sighing I focused on the skill and a prompt popped up with what I assume people see when they identify me.

Level: 63

Race: Ancient Vampire

Highest level class: N/A Level: N/A

I focused on race and willed it to be human. And it worked and for level I did 15 not knowing what was a good level.

“Oh it changed to human and level 15. Why did you pick 15?” Said Sarah.

“Well I don't know what level humans tend to be so I just picked a lower number.” I answered.

“From what I'm reading online it seems that 8 to 12 is average with anything over 15 being unheard of and those under level 8 being either children or people with disabilities.” Said Sarah.

“Oh why is that?” I asked

“Ok so this is all just speculation still but from what I have read online, your level seems to be your total number of stats divided by 7 and always rounded down. What people think it is is that it's the average amount of stats you have between the 7 different stat types. So take me for example, I am level 9 with 8 Strength, 10 Agility 8 Constitution 9 Dexterity 11 Stamina 11 Intelligents and 8 Wisdom which is 63 total points which when divided by 7 for the 7 stat types is 9. .. wait if your level 63…” she pulled up the calculator app on her phone and started taping. “YOUR STAT TOTAL IS OVER 441!!”

“What did I say about yelling and yes I have exactly 441 stat points. It took a long time to gain all of that. But my guess is that that number will not be very impressive here in a couple of years, maybe even months.” I said

“Oh sorry it's just that it's hard to wrap my head around the fact my best friend is so strong.” She said

“Aww I'm your best friend that makes me so happy.” I said while giving her a bear hug.

“Hey I need to breathe you know.” she choked out.

“You're talking so you can still breathe.” I said while releasing her.

After that interaction I went back to reading my abilities while she listened to the news and read forums online.

Language Adept

You have a unique ability to learn languages and dialects. While one person may take years to learn a language it only takes you months.

Language did always come easy to me. I guess it's one of my born abilities. That only got better as I grew older.

Mask of the Deceiver

You have a near perfect ability to lie and deceive people. You have complete control of your facial features and no discernable tell when you are lying. Poker players better beware. World Breaker System Effect: People with the ability to see through lies will find it much harder to see through your lies.

Ok the more I read this the more I'm convinced some nerd got to play God for 10 mins. The system almost seems self aware. Anyways when you work on something for 2000 years you get pretty damn good at it especially when it's your life is on the line if you mess up.

Photographic Memory

You have perfect visual memory and can recall anything given time.

Yup once again nothing new here but I must say sometimes I wish I did not have photographic memory or echoic memory some of the things I can recall I wish to never think of again, but alas I am blessed with a curse in that case.

Seducer

What is the easiest way to lower someone's guard so you can drink them dry? Fuck their brains out or at least make them think you’re going to do that. Both work. You have mastered the art of seduction and if a tree had conscious thought you could get it to fall for you. Well with how the world has changed you might just get the chance ;). World Breaker system effect: You have the ability to seduce almost anyone, if you try hard enough you can turn a gay man straight or a straight woman gay for a single fling.

Ok I swear the system is messing with me now. Also I'm not that horny come on. It is helpful when needed but I have not needed to do that in a long time. Stupid system messing with me thinking I'm some kind of succubus.

Soft Step

To assassinate or to sneakily drink a person's blood, one must be quiet. You have learned the art of walking so quietly no normal person could ever hear you coming. Not even in a leaf covered forest.

Once again something that I have learned over time. I also don't doubt my high amount of stats or how ever you want to quantify my abilities, helped.

Vocal Perfectionist

You have near perfect control of your voice, being able to hit notes that no woman should ever hit, or any human for that matter. With this, you have the ability to make any accent you want in any language you know. Though your voice itself cannot change you have an unheard of range in which it can go.

This one is both a born ability and earned one, I have always had a wide range in which I could sing and such but I also learned how to remove accents to better blend into an environment. To not look anymore out of place then I may have already.

Wisdom of Ancients

Though you are not the oldest living being on the planet by any means, that does not mean you are not older than almost all sentient life on the planet. With that age comes wisdom also with that age you are bound to meet other ancient beings who have also besotted their wisdom onto you. In turn you have seen a lot and have come to understand things in ways few others of the world could. World Breaker system Effect: Wisdom is a stat that can never be given, only earned. Wisdom can be offered to others but should they not take it to heart they have not earned it. Wisdom can affect both the quality of abilities and classes one can pick from. While in your precise people who you favor and listen to you can have the effects of your higher wisdom stat while classing up.

Now this is interesting so wisdom is a stat that the system can not give freely. I guess wisdom can only really come from one's experiences therefore the system can't give you experiences to pull wisdom from? I don't know but that's my guess. But the system effect is weird. Wisdom has an effect on skill and class options and I can let someone borrow my wisdom to give them better options? This is a weird ability that seems contradictory.

Well that's the last of my earned and born abilities. I'm kinda surprised that the list was not longer but I don't know what the system would count as abilities. Well I'm sure people will figure it out in do time. Turning to Sarah I looked at her phone and asked. "Find anything interesting."

Jumping a bit she said." Not anything too interesting. Most of what I found only reinforced what I already suspected. Did you finish going over all your abilities?"

"Yeah I finished going over all my abilities. So give me the lowdown on what to expect and your recommendations. Oh but I did get one ability that will be helpful for you." I said

"Ok I think I have all my thoughts in order about how I want to explain this to you but what is this about an ability that could help me?" Sarah asked.

Smiling, I said. "To keep it brief I learned that the only stat that could not be given by the system is wisdom and wisdom apparently plays a part in the quality of skills and classes people are offered. Now I learned all this from the description of an ability called Wisdom of Ancients and it has an effect where people I favor and listen to me will gain the benefits of my wisdom stat while classing up around me."

Sarah processed what I said for quite a while. After a time she finally spoke.

“That is really powerful vi. That is something the government would kidnap you over. But I guess they can't really do that because you have to have favor with them and if someone kidnaps you I doubt you would see them favorably.”

“Yup”

“But even then it's best to keep this skill under wraps. I don't know if the person classing up will be notified if the skill is taking effect or not. If it does not then there is nothing to worry about but if it does we might have problems in the future.” Sarah concluded.

Nodding along, I agreed with her. I may be powerful and nothing short of a massive bomb dropped on my head could kill me right now but that does not mean that would not change soon. For the time being I don't have to worry about any of my secrets getting out. I trust Sarah maybe not as much as I would have wanted before telling her what I was but I do trust her and my ain’t identify ability seems to be pretty high tier at that and I highly doubt that more than 10 humans on the whole planet could claim to be given a skill of that tier. It seems that Epic is a high tier for skill so I don't think the system would hand them out very easily. As for long lived beings and immortals that would be a different story. I would not doubt that a handful of them were offered high tier skills and classes as a starting point. I would not doubt if I get one or 2 of each. But then again I really don't know much. This is all speculation. For all I know Epic is a much lower tier and I'm way over thinking this. But time will tell.
