NOVEL WEB Chapter 16
With training done for the day we all started getting the bar ready. Once everything was set up we had a quick meeting of the workers.
“So I think I want to do our family night either tomorrow or the day after. We can start spreading the word tonight but we need to set a date. Also anyone got game recommendations for the kids and teenagers that might join us.”
Sarah was the first to speak up. “I believe doing it tomorrow would be best. With it being a Friday. But days of the week might not matter much at this point but it's the idea of a Friday might work in our favor. As for games we have a number of T.V.s I'm sure we can set up game consoles with Nintendo games and the like. They are good for all ages. We can also pick up some chalk and maybe some jump ropes for playing outside. We would have to set this up in the parking lot. But also have to clean it up when we start the movies out there.”
Sarah makes my life so much easier. I may play video games myself but I do not know that much about kid friendly games. It's been a very long time since I have raised a kid let alone being a kid myself.
“In that case mind working on that tomorrow I'm not familiar with console games and the like. You know, PC master race and all.” That got a chuckle out of the people there. Next Maria spoke up.
“Yo we should also make food most kids would like. I think we have the stuff to make mac and cheese. We can also see if we can find some chicken nuggets, maybe some corn dogs as well. Burgers and the like will also work but we already severe those.”
It's nice having smart people around. What was it? I heard one time. A great leader is not someone who knows how to do it all but a person who can find good people to do the jobs for him. Or something in that vein “Good call Maria, you mind working on that tomorrow then.”
“Sure boss” I smiled and looked at the people around me. I think I ended up hiring some pretty great people without knowing it. Sure I liked them so I hired them but I could not have imagined they would be this great. I'm still worried about the ones that never came in. I hope they are well.
“Anyone else have anything else to add?” I asked, it was Edward that replied this time.
“We can’t forget about the patents. I know that they will mingle with each other and some will play pool but having some more things for them to do would not be a bad thing such as having decks of cards and some chips to play poker and the like. Also there are some other fun card games and board games that would be good for both adults and kids.”
“Great point Edward. When we are not in training tomorrow, work with Sarah on that.”
Edward smiled and said, “Can do Vivi.”
After that no one had anything more to add and went to finish up for the coming customers.
I was once again on the floor interacting with people tonight. It became clear very early in the night that the overall mood was different. It was quite similar to that of the first couple nights we opened after the event. People were more tense, and some scared. But the fact that they still showed up showed that they felt safe here.
From what I could gather there seemed to be a lot more gang activity in the nearby area and with a lot of people getting the identity skill after the recommendation from the president people could see what level people were and what class they had and it was not very reassuring. The gang grunt class was popping up more and more. Along with other classes like it. And it was not as though these people were all staying at around level 10 most of them had leveled at least a couple times.
This in and of itself worried me for a variety of reasons. It seems the powder cage we are currently sitting on is only growing bigger and I have no idea when, where or who will set it off. Obviously not count the known powder cage out back. Once it goes off we will have run out of time for a lot of what I want to accomplish.
I think tomorrow I will need to recruit more people. We need manpower for a variety of things right now. Maybe I can get lucky and stanch some good families tomorrow.
As I was making my way off the floor to go to my office and re-organize my plans with what I learned tonight I heard something that pissed me off.
“OK BITCH I’VE COME BACK TO KICK YOUR ASS.”
“You have got to be kidding me” mumbled to myself. The whole room went silent at his declaration. And the crowd parted. For him and his goons. I looked at him and cursed.

Fuck he is leveling really fast. What the hell are these people doing to level? Beating the crap out of each other non-stop? I really don't want to show off but this guy is going to make me. I swear if there were not people around right now all of them would be bloodless hunks. But alas that is not something I can do right now.
Activating Presence of an Ancient on every person in the room I walked forward. Like a wave people moved out of my way. People were trembling as I walked past them. I stood a few paces away from him, face to face with the tattooed up brute (well more like shoulder to face he was pretty tall) and spoke. “Seeing as you have already used option one option 2 and 3 are all that is left for you.”
The big bastard started laughing while all of his men behind him were trembling due to my skill. I was quite surprised he was resisting it. Maybe he had some skill he leveled up to help him resist intimation auras? But it can't be more than intermediate skill. I guess that's what I get for not leveling skills. But still I feel like I'm missing something here.
“Your little skill will not work on me any more little lady. Now I will give you three options: give up the dungeon and get out of MY BAR. Give up the dungeon and be my bitch willingly or not. I don't care, or die and in turn give up the dungeon. Now take your pick.” He said it all with a sick smile. I could feel him undressing me with his eyes at the second command.
I looked past him to his trembling gang members. Even with them trembling they still had weak smiles. I shook my head. And told the gang members.” Once this is over I want you all to spread the word. The next person who tries this shit in front of me is going to wish they end like your leader is about to.”
The bald headed dumb ass laughed again, a big hearty one with his head in the air. In the next instant I was in front of him with my fist in his gut. I pulled back and he bent over like bendy straw and staggered back a little blood trickled from his mouth. I assume he bit his tongue or something. With his head now lowered I roundhouse kicked him in the head and he fell to the left crumpled on the ground. He was still alive but he would not be doing anything any time soon. I looked back to the rest of the dumb asses in my bar and said. “Now pick up your boss and get the fuck out of here before I decide you picked option 3!” They all scrambled around most of the tuning heel and sprinting out of the bar. While the rest picked up their boss with surprising ease and followed suit with their buddies.
Making the snap decision to take advantage of this incident I turned off Presence of an Ancient and spoke clearly to the people gathered.” As long as I am here I will not tolerate any of this shit. Be kind, be friendly, shoot even be rude but as long as people don't start threats and violence everyone is welcome here. This is a place to feel safe and to get away from the crazy of our new world even if just for a few hours. So let us enjoy this and know I will not let any B.S. like that affects those who walk into my domain.”
I then started to walk up stairs to my office to start reorganizing my thoughts and plans based on what I heard and what happened today. As I walked up the stairs I started to hear clamping slowly at first but then I grew in intensity. There were also some thank yous and a few people crying. I smiled and made my way to my office and closed the door behind me.
