Chapter 3: Hope
As Ryan was being beaten and losing consciousness, he found himself in a dark, formless space with his soul floating within it. In this void, nine glowing objects resembling stars of varying sizes appeared before him, arranged in a line from smallest to largest. His intuition and instincts compelled him to touch the smallest star.
As he made contact with the star, Ryan felt himself being pulled through a kaleidoscope-like tunnel filled with vibrant colors. When he emerged, he found himself sitting in a coffee shop, sipping coffee and wondering if his prayers had been answered. Had he traveled through time again after being beaten to death, or had one of the stars transported him to this new reality?
Ryan's mind replayed the image of the stars, and he realized that they were still present within his mind. His instincts warned him that touching the stars again would return him to the hellish world he had escaped.
As Ryan sat in the coffee shop, pondering his next move, he overheard a conversation between a couple. The woman, Lindy, told the man, Eddie, to stop writing. Ryan recognized the scene from a movie and noticed that the characters looked identical to those in the film.
Curiosity got the better of Ryan, and he wondered if he had somehow entered the world of the movie Limitless. He recalled that Eddie would soon meet his drug dealer friend. As Eddie left the café, Ryan followed him, leaving the money in his pocket on the table.
Ryan's suspicions were confirmed when Eddie met his friend, who looked exactly like the character from the movie. Ryan realized that he had indeed entered the world of Limitless.
Ryan's mind began racing with possibilities. To escape the problems that plagued him in the medieval world, he needed a smarter brain. The NZT pills from the movie, which allowed humans to unlock their brain's full potential, could be the key to his survival. If he could obtain those pills, he might have a chance to overcome his challenges.
As Ryan navigated his new reality, another puzzle emerged: who was he in this movie, He pulled out his wallet and found a card with his name on it - Ryan. The coincidence was uncanny. Was it fate that every body he took over would share his name?
Ryan wasn't in a rush to follow Eddie and his friend, knowing where Eddie worked as a writer. He devised a plan to feign memory loss again, but this time, he needed to make it more convincing. He walked into an alley and deliberately bumped his head against the wall. The pain was excruciating, but he forced himself to stay conscious, aware that losing consciousness would put his life at risk.
Thanks to his previous experiences, Ryan had developed a tolerance for pain. His head felt heavy, but he pushed through the discomfort and walked out of the alley. He stumbled and fell, drawing attention from passersby. People panicked at the sight of him covered in blood and called 911.
As Ryan regained consciousness, he found himself in a hospital ward. He silently thanked the kind-hearted citizen who had helped him. Just as he was about to call the nurse, he heard footsteps approaching. A doctor and a police officer walked towards him, and Ryan knew it was time to put his acting skills to the test. He hoped he wouldn't falter like he had before.
