30 Years in Whitebeard’s Crew, I Became Invincible

Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Whitebeard's Age, Roy Steps In

Crocodile was seething with resentment.

A man whose heart longed to create a place free from any threats. This world was an incredibly dangerous place. Power, for him, was merely a means of self-preservation.

"Your companions are all fighting. What are you doing just standing here? And what about those injuries? What happened?" Crocodile asked, puffing on his cigar, the picture of masculine bravado.

"Got hit by Garp," Roy said casually.

"Garp… So you really did fight the Marines. To actually make them retreat, impressive," Crocodile said.

"Because I defeated Garp," Roy said just as calmly.

Crocodile immediately turned his head, staring at Roy in disbelief.

"That Hero of the Marine… was defeated?!!"

"Hero of the Marine? More like a bear."

Their opponent wasn't the Marines this time; it was the Big Mom Pirates, and the battle was still fairly restrained.

At least from Roy's perspective, neither side was going all out. Charlotte Linlin's true objective had also become clear.

"If you came for Vegapunk, he's not here. He left with the Marines," said Whitebeard.

"I know." Charlotte Linlin clashed fists with Whitebeard.

"Then why are you still here?" Whitebeard asked in confusion.

"You've grown old, Newgate. Killing you now, while you're still breathing, is my best opportunity." Charlotte Linlin laughed.

"So that's your goal now? To kill me? Do you really think I'm that easy to take down?"

"You're an old man already. It's time for you to die—preferably by my hand."

"Don't make me laugh! Like I'd die to the likes of you!"

Whitebeard punched in fury, his fist wreathed in the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit. Charlotte Linlin's fist was also wrapped in Haki as she met his punch head-on.

In terms of sheer size, Big Mom dwarfed him. Her dream was to reshape the world into one where everyone was as large as her, so that all would be the same size.

That's why she missed her days in the Elbaf village so much. She longed for a world full of big friends.

Their battle was so intense that no one else could approach. Earthquakes, lightning, and fire, three elements, twisted the heavens and warped the earth.

No wonder people said the Flame-Flame Fruit was useless, fire had become such a basic ability. Both Charlotte Linlin and Kaido were practically elemental gods.

"It's time to end this," Roy said, standing up, cracking his arm joints.

Crocodile watched as Roy twisted his arm and walked toward Charlotte Linlin.

"Boss… is he going over there to get himself killed?" Mr. 1 asked.

"Get himself killed? You're underestimating him." Crocodile exhaled smoke. "That man is anything but ordinary."

"He does give off a unique vibe… but is he really in the same league as those monsters?" Mr. 1 looked toward the battle between Whitebeard and Charlotte Linlin.

At that level of combat, he felt like just one glance from them would be enough to end him. He had no fighting spirit left.

To him, Roy didn't seem that extraordinary. How could he possibly stop such a battle? Even if Crocodile went in, it would also be a one-way trip.

"Just watch. You'll see soon enough," Crocodile said, recalling the moment Roy had defeated him.

That feeling of being dominated, like an ant, utterly powerless.

"Thunderbolt!"

Charlotte Linlin commanded Zeus to summon lightning bolts, striking Whitebeard directly. He really was getting old, after one fight, and now another, he was clearly running out of stamina.

After the lightning hit, Whitebeard dropped to one knee, clutching his chest.

"Damn it…not now!" Whitebeard's eyes bulged, veins popping.

"Pops!"

Marco and the others immediately noticed something was wrong, Whitebeard was showing signs of age.

As people age, all kinds of issues surface. Coupled with a life of relentless battle, his body had long been worn down.

That's why he needed constant medical care, why nurses and IV drips had become a permanent part of his life.

It meant that he really was old, and his body had problems.

"Newgate, you really are getting old," Charlotte Linlin walked toward him step by step.

Victory was in sight. After more than thirty years, she finally had a chance to cut down Whitebeard.

Huff, huff!!

Whitebeard's breathing grew rapid. He tried to move, but no matter how strong his will, he couldn't command his aged body anymore.

As Charlotte Linlin closed in, Whitebeard raised his head, sweat pouring down his forehead.

"Mama mamama… I didn't expect you to reach this point. In the end, you lost to time and to yourself. It's fine. Today, you'll die by my hand. After I kill you, I'll claim the One Piece and become the new Pirate King."

Charlotte Linlin was getting more and more excited; the opportunity she'd waited so long for was finally here. Even if Whitebeard fell due to illness or injury, it was still her win.

She was a pirate. There was no such thing as honor.

Only winners and losers. As long as she won, no one would care how.

"Pops!"

Marco and the others tried to rush in, but members of the Charlotte Family blocked their way.

"You're not getting through," said Perospero and others, standing in their path.

"Whitebeard is finished."

"The Whitebeard Pirates are done for."

"Out of my way, Fire Fist!"

Ace charged forward in a panic, but a biscuit soldier blocked his attack with a shield.

"You're not getting through," Cracker's biscuit warrior raised a longsword to strike Ace.

"Flame Spear!"

Ace's flame spear pierced the biscuit soldier's body, but more biscuit warriors kept appearing.

Things looked dire on Whitebeard's side, and Marco's group couldn't break through.

"Pops!"

Jinbe tried to rush over but was blocked by Smoothie.

Whitebeard's sudden collapse had caught them completely off guard.

"Die, Newgate!"

Charlotte Linlin raised Napoleon high, ready to cleave Whitebeard in two.

But then, Whitebeard raised his head and smiled.

"If you want to kill me… you'll have to ask him first," Whitebeard said with a wide grin.

Charlotte Linlin froze for a moment. 'Why would someone about to die be smiling?'

"No matter. DIE!"

She didn't hesitate and swung down.

"You think you can kill our captain?!"

A voice rang out in her ear.

She turned her head just in time to see a figure appear beside her right cheek.

"When did he get there?!"

Charlotte Linlin felt an overwhelming sense of danger, especially from that incoming fist, growing larger and closer by the second, aimed straight at her eye.

"Airburst!"
