30 Years in Whitebeard’s Crew, I Became Invincible

Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Cloning Technology, Buggy Makes His Entrance

CRACK!

The lightning struck with unimaginable speed, a burst of flames erupting at Roy's feet.

If an ordinary person were hit like that, they'd instantly collapse. Of course, there's always a small chance of surviving a lightning strike.

But faced with a bolt as thick as a barrel, Roy didn't even flinch, it struck right beside his foot.

"Hiss… a bit numb. I'll leave this to you, your problem now," Roy shivered and redirected the lightning away from himself with a twitch.

"Mm, go get some rest," Whitebeard said.

"Have fun fighting. If you can't hold out, give me a shout," Roy turned and walked away.

Big Mom watched in confusion.

She ignored Roy and rushed in, wielding Napoleon to clash with Whitebeard.

Meanwhile, Marco and the others began fighting Katakuri and his group.

This battle was even more intense than the one with the Marines, with more combatants on both sides.

"Are you the only one who stayed?"

Roy sat on a rock. Behind the rock leaned someone wearing a helmet that looked like a motorcycle helmet.

"Just me," Shaka confirmed.

"Charlotte Linlin probably came for you," Roy had analyzed her motives.

She wouldn't have mobilized her entire fleet without a goal. And the only prize worth her time here was Vegapunk.

To the World Government, Vegapunk was extremely important, and he was equally valuable to Big Mom. After all, he was a genius with technology 500 years ahead of his time.

After all, she had once pursued the Germa 66 for their scientific advancements. But compared to Vegapunk, Judge's research was child's play.

"Why keep me here? What do you want?" Shaka asked.

"Cooperation," Roy said simply. "Egghead will be returned to you. Once this battle ends, we leave tomorrow."

"Cooperate? On what?"

"On "Lineage Factor and Devil Fruit cloning."

"Impossible! We will never agree to that kind of cooperation. If that tech is misused, it could bring a catastrophic disaster. Power will spiral out of control," Shaka reacted strongly, as Roy had expected.

After all, with pirates wielding such power, who knew what they'd do with it?

"Power has already spiraled out of control. The seas grow more dangerous by the day. The World Government has already sensed the threat."

"You think they don't want this technology? Why else would they tell you to develop the Mother Flame?"

"Did you ever think what disaster it would bring if paired with certain weapons?"

"I bet you've studied it too, haven't you? The true threat looming over this world."

"As islands vanish, the oceans will eventually consume everything. The only solution is to stop it before it's too late."

"So, you really did figure it out… I don't know how, but technology must not be misused."

"Where has it been misused? Technology is meant to benefit humanity. How much of your work has the World Government actually put to good use? Almost none."

"Instead, they've asked you to create weapons. So-called Pacifistas? They don't bring peace. They bring oppression."

"You might as well sell the tech to me. At least I'll put it in the hands of ordinary people."

"We'll never trust a pirate's word. There's no way we'd give you our technology," Shaka shook his head.

Indeed, they had made countless inventions, but the World Government never saw the true value in many of them.

The government only wanted one thing: power to enslave the world.

"I only want one technology," Roy said.

"Which one?"

"The cloning technology for Devil Fruits."

A pause. Then-

"....You can have it. Whether you succeed in replicating it is your problem."

"Deal. Then I'll share something with you."

"Go ahead."

"The one who will betray you is one of your own. York."

"It was her… I see." Shaka nodded and handed Roy a data chip.

With the exchange complete, Shaka returned to Punk Records.

The battle between the Emperors raged on, but Roy lost interest.

Cloning Devil Fruits… this would allow an endless supply, far better than Blackbeard's crude method of hunting.

Unfortunately, cloning Logia-type fruits was nearly impossible. If only that could be done…

Vegapunk once said that cloning Zoan and Paramecia types was relatively simple, but Logia types were almost impossible.

But if the tech was advanced enough, even Mythical Zoan types could be cloned.

Years ago, Vegapunk had already succeeded in cloning the Azure Dragon Fruit of Kaido in Punk Hazard.

Because the clone was pink, Vegapunk, being a perfectionist, considered it a failure.

So he publicly claimed the experiment failed. But it hadn't.

That fruit was the Azure Dragon Fruit. Momonosuke was just too young. Once grown, he'd naturally take on Kaido's form.

"Grow my own fruits…" Roy carefully stored the data chip away. He knew Shaka wouldn't dare lie to him.

"Hmm?"

Suddenly, Roy looked up at the sky. He'd heard something.

He raised his head and listened to the whistling wind.

"Is someone up there?"

"AAAAAHHHHH—!"

"WE'RE GONNA DIE!"

"ARE WE GONNA CRASH?"

"SOMEONE HELP"

"DAMN YOU, WARLORD! DAMN YOU, BARTHOLOMEW KUMA!"

"MOM I DON'T WANT TO DIE!"

The voices were chaotic, but oddly familiar. One by one, streaks of light, like meteors, crashed down onto Egghead Island.

The sudden noise caught everyone's attention, even Whitebeard and Big Mom paused mid-battle to look.

"Oww, that hurt…"

"We survived?! We're alive?!"

"Captain Buggy! Are you okay?!"

"Waaah, someone help me!!!"

One by one, people appeared, scattered on the ground. Seeing a paw print in the sand, Roy instantly understood what had happened.

From the smoke emerged Jinbe, eyes locked intensely on the battlefield.

Crocodile was brushing off dust on his coat with a scowl, and Mr. 1 stood up and stretched.

"Buggy, are you alright?" Mr. 3 turned to Buggy, whose body was half buried in the sand, the rest sticking out.

His crew panicked, digging frantically. "CAPTAIN! WE'LL SAVE YOU!"

Buggy's crewmates rushed to dig him out, but accidentally pulled him in half. In a panic, they dug faster and got him out of the sand.

"Saved… I'm saved…" Buggy spat out a mouthful of sand.

"Where are we?"

"Captain Buggy, we've arrived at Egghead Island."

"Really?! Where's the Whitebeard Pirates? The Marines?!"

Buggy instantly perked up and looked around.

He didn't see a single Marine, but did see two giant figures staring at them.

"You guys are…"

Buggy's soul nearly flew out of his body.

His eyes bulged out, tongue sticking out comically.

"Ch-Ch-Charlotte Linlin?! Isn't it supposed to be the Marines fighting the Whitebeard Pirates?! Why is Big Mom here?!" Buggy screamed in shock.

"Something's seriously wrong here. Where's Ace?!" Jinbe was sweating too. Why were the Big Mom Pirates here?

"What's going on? The Whitebeard Pirates are fighting another Emperor?!" Crocodile was stunned by the sight before him.

Weren't they supposed to be fighting the Marines?

How did it become a war between Two Emperors?!
