30 Years in Whitebeard’s Crew, I Became Invincible

Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Preparing to Head to Mary Geoise

Dragging a massive haul of gold and jewels, Roy left Dressrosa behind. Sabo and the Revolutionaries also departed, taking their share of the spoils, the gold chunk and weapons to fuel their cause.

The battle had exposed the true nature of the Warlord system, revealing the ugly reality of pirates to the world.

What once happened in Alabasta finally appeared before the world again in Dressrosa, this time under the leadership of a Marine Admiral kneeling in disgrace.

That's why Akainu was so furious, even issuing an order forbidding Fujitora from entering any Marine base.

He was an admiral, after all, who would've expected this?

Akainu was painfully aware of how difficult his position as Fleet Admiral had become.

With the Reverie approaching, the leaders of twenty nations began their preparations to gather at Mary Geoise for the meeting.

Though it was called the World Conference, it was more of a symbolic gesture than a meaningful one.

.....

"Big bro, are we going straight back?"

"Yeah, it's been a while since we left. Time to head back, and this time, we don't need to hide in that place anymore. We can show up openly," Roy said with a smile.

"Really?" Atmos asked, delighted.

"At this point, the World Government can't touch us anymore," Roy grinned.

"That's great! No more hiding in the Calm Belt," Atmos said cheerfully.

"The world's about to fall into chaos, and now we have enough strength to face it. No need to keep lying low."

The dragon soared through the skies, returning to their hidden base in the Calm Belt.

"Big bro is back!" Marco said with a smile.

"So soon?!" Whitebeard grumbled, looking down at the tiny infant giggling in his massive palm. His expression was a mix of reluctance and affection.

With Whitebeard's massive frame, Roy's daughter looked tiny in his palm. But children are the purest beings in the world. Whitebeard, now in his seventies, was thrilled to have a grandchild.

While Roy was away, Whitebeard spent almost every day with the baby and hadn't even played mahjong.

Boom!

A massive pile of gold was dumped down, and several division commanders excitedly ran over.

"Big bro, where'd you loot all this from?" Thatch flew over, eyes wide with joy.

"What do you mean 'loot'? I just took it," Roy replied, jumping off the golden dragon throne.

"We're pirates. Of course, we loot. But still, that's a ton of gold," Thatch said. He had never seen this much.

"This must be worth tens of billions in gold," Blamenco added.

"Gold is better than Berry these days. Berry's losing value. The World Government's printing too much, inflation's crazy now," Vista laughed.

"Reminds me of the time we beat up Marco over a single gold coin," Jozu grinned.

"You beat up who?" Marco's voice suddenly came from behind.

"Haha, of course it was you! Walking around flaunting a gold coin like a brat," Jozu laughed loudly.

"Yeah, some punk waving gold around to buy books," Thatch said.

"Totally deserved to get robbed," Vista joked.

"You three want a beating?" Marco growled, launching himself at them. Soon, the three had him pinned to the ground, and he cried out in protest.

"Thirty years later, Marco, you still can't beat us three."

"Come on then, fight one-on-one!"

Marco lay on the ground, unwilling to admit defeat, pinned down by the trio.

"Big bro always said, if you can gang up, never fight solo. Only idiots fight one-on-one. Hit first, suppress with firepower, and screw the rules. We're pirates, not Marines," Thatch laughed.

"This gold came from Doflamingo," Roy said.

"Doflamingo? Wasn't he taken down by the Straw Hat Pirates and the Heart Pirates?" Marco asked.

"Exactly. That's why I said I took it, not stole it. I didn't lift a finger. I just took the money," Roy chuckled.

"Big bro, any progress on that fruit experiment?" Marco asked.

"Not yet, but I've got some clues. It's dangerous, don't touch it for now," Roy replied.

"Got it. So what's our next move?"

"The World Conference is about to begin. I'm thinking of heading to Mary Geoise," Roy said.

"Mary Geoise?!"

"You're joking, right?"

"That place is way too dangerous."

"Yeah, big bro, you can't go there."

"At least eat a Devil Fruit for protection!"

"No need. I'm just going to take a look. Nothing more," Roy assured them.

"It's still too risky. Is it urgent? If it is, let us go with you," Marco said, shaking off Jozu and frowning.

"It's fine. I'll bring two or three of you at most."

"I'll go with you, big bro," Atmos said.

"Me too," Jozu added.

"We'll decide later. No rush. Either way, it's time for us to leave this place. It's been a year, we should return to the world."

"Really?"

"Awesome! We can finally go outside again."

"I heard Loxus's gotten really strong. I wonder what's the situation in the new world is like now."

Everyone was thrilled. They'd been cooped up too long and were eager to return to the outside world.

Roy left the gold for the crew to sort and headed home.

"Where's Rein?"

Back home, he found Whitey Bay cooking. She had been making dinner, knowing Roy was coming back. But when Roy saw the burnt food, he took a deep breath.

"It's burned again!"

"I'll take over," Roy said, grabbing the spatula.

"Why can't I get it right?" Whitey Bay looked at the blackened food, questioning her life.

"You just don't have the talent," Roy said, rolling up his sleeves and starting to cook.

Whitey Bay, somehow, could never cook. It was almost supernatural, as if her very touch cursed food.

Ever since they got together at seventeen, it had been this way for over thirty years. Every time she tried to cook, she burned it, and Roy ended up doing it himself.

"Fine, I won't cook anymore," Whitey Bay huffed.

Roy had heard that same line for nearly thirty years, and yet, she'd always try again.

"Where's Rein? Already asleep?"

"No, she's with Pops."

Whoosh!

Roy vanished from the kitchen. Whitey Bay propped her chin on her hand.

"Honestly, he treats his son like an enemy and his daughter as the most precious being."

Moments later, Roy arrived in front of Whitebeard.

"Here, here. Your daughter's right here," Whitebeard said, half annoyed, half reluctant to let her go.

Roy carefully took his daughter in his arms. Rein stared at him with big eyes, and after a moment, perhaps recognizing him, reached out and grabbed him.

"Da… da…"

"HAHAHA! Newgate, did you hear that?! My daughter called me 'dada'!" Roy exclaimed with joy.

"Yeah, yeah. She'll marry someone else someday."

"SHUT IT, NEWGATE."

"Look at him, he's seething! Gurararara!"
