30 Years in Whitebeard’s Crew, I Became Invincible

Chapter 143: Chapter 143: The Seven Seraphim – The Devouring Power

A brand-new Devil Fruit was in the process of being born.

Both Roy and Vegapunk watched with anticipation.

Shaka, however, had long since given up trying to reason with them. Since Roy had already proven he could suppress the creature with his Haki, there was no point in stopping now.

The experiment proceeded. This time, more seraphim joined the fray: S-Shark, S-Croc, S-Gecko, and S-Snake

Together with S-Hawk, S-Bear, and S-Flamingo, all seven former Warlords of the Sea from two years ago were now represented.

All seven appeared as child-like figures: dark skin, black wings, white hair, and starry eyes.

"You programmed them with a growth lifespan, didn't you?" Roy asked.

"How did you figure that out?"

"They're different from Stussy. They'll age and die. Stussy hasn't changed at all over the years, while the Vinsmoke clones all have limited lifespans. Your Seraphim, created from Lunarian lineage, were developed from embryonic development tech, and their abilities were granted through green blood extracted from Devil Fruit users."

Roy smirked.

"But I'm curious, what ability did you give S-Croc? He was a Logia user. Logia powers can't be replicated."

Roy had tried before.

He had attempted to cultivate Paramecia and Logia fruits using the same method as Zoans.

Whitebeard's Tremor-Tremor Fruit was Paramecia. Ace's Flame-Flame Fruit was Logia.

He had test subjects, but no matter what he did, they wouldn't grow.

It was as if Paramecia and Logia fruits had "no will of their own", while Zoan fruits had vitality and could be mass-produced.

To put it simply, Zoan fruits are like living beings; you can clone them through lineage factors.

Paramecia fruits are akin to objects and or concepts. They could be replicated through factory methods, transferring abilities via blood.

But Logias are different. Their powers might already be part of nature itself.

So, for now, there was no method to clone Logia fruits. Which begged the question: what fruit had they used for S-Croc?

"You're right. Logia powers can't be assigned. We substituted with a Paramecia-type," Shaka admitted.

"Oh? And what ability did you give him?"

"See for yourself."

Roy turned to the monitors as the four new Seraphim sprang into action.

S-Shark used Fish-Man Karate combined with the Swim-Swim Fruit, turning solid ground into liquid terrain. He swam beneath the battlefield before launching a "Water Shotgun" at the 'resentment entity', blasting it into the air.

"Kishishishi!!"

S-Gecko's shadow morphed into a blade, impaling the creature midair.

"Tsk, feels even stronger than the original. Hahaha!" Roy laughed, impressed by S-Gecko's performance.

S-Snake attempted her signature Mero Mero abilities, but they had no effect. Instead, she switched to laser beams, bombarding the monster.

Roy kept his eye on S-Croc, trying to identify the fruit he had.

When the Seraphim merged with the ground, Roy immediately recognized the ability.

A stone colossus rose, Pica's Stone-Stone Fruit.

A colossal rocky fist smashed toward the resentment entity.

Boom!

The entity was knocked into the sea.

The marines watching were startled. They'd been trying to knock the monster into the ocean this whole time, and now that it had happened, it came as a surprise.

"Those are…" Vice Admiral Doll looked up at the seven flying children. She examined their faces, then their powers.

"So it worked, they've replaced the Warlords."

RUMBLE!

"Impossible!!"

Suddenly, Doll gasped in shock.

The monster in the sea hadn't lost its power, nor reverted to a physical form. It remained in its current state.

It swallowed an entire warship, dragging all aboard into its body.

Then black flames erupted from the ship as the soldiers leaped overboard. Within moments, the warship was completely devoured and destroyed.

"This is bad! It's coming this way, Vice Admiral!" her aide shouted.

"Fire the cannons, I refuse to believe this thing can't be killed!" Doll ordered.

The eight remaining warships opened fire. The seven airborne Seraphim bombarded it with lasers as well.

But the monster crawled from the seabed, devouring buildings on the island. This time, S-Croc's stone attack was absorbed and immediately incinerated.

"Haki is the only thing that works," Roy mused.

"Physical attacks, fire, ice, none of them work," Shaka added.

"Let's see if we can compress it back into a fruit. Kizaru should be here soon," Roy said with a smile.

"Aren't you afraid of him?"

"Relax. He can't stop me. If he could, you wouldn't need me to clean up this mess.

"Please. He can't stop me. If he fails, I'll clean up the mess myself." Roy smirked. "Didn't you notice how much bigger this thing's gotten? It started with flesh and blood, and in just half a day, it's swollen a hundredfold. It's become a silicon-based lifeform," Roy said.

"At this rate, it'll consume the entire island, just like a Devourer Beast, endlessly devouring the world," Vegapunk added.

"Tell the Marines to hurry it up," Roy smirked.

The battle continued. The monster, seemingly invincible, was only held back by relentless firepower. Vegapunk again deployed freezing gases, but the black flames it emitted seemed able to burn through anything.

Freezing worked; each time it was frozen, its body shrank. But by devouring things, especially living beings, it grew stronger again.

One reckless marine charged with a sword and was absorbed.

Using precise scanners, they found that the creature's growth accelerated after it devoured the marine captain.

"Devouring life accelerates its growth," Roy noted.

"It's clearly evolving, but still mindless," Vegapunk observed.

"It seems so," Roy agreed.

"How do you know?" Shaka asked.

"I've been trying to communicate with it using Observation Haki. At first, I could still hear Regan's voice. Now, there's nothing. I've tried continuously, but there's no response, no influence. But I can sense that it's afraid of me. It keeps trying to flee Egghead," Roy smiled.

"It senses you as a threat?" Shaka asked.

"Most likely."

"Borsalino says he'll arrive in two hours."

"Tell him to hurry up."

"You're a pirate. You don't get to give orders here."

"I just don't want to see more people die. Look how kind I am."

"If you're so kind, then what about all those you've killed?"

"They deserved it. When I was a slave hunted by the Celestial Dragons, I didn't blame anyone. But I will show those Celestial Dragons what it means to suffer a fate worse than death."

Vegapunk glanced at Roy, then silently returned to analyzing the data.
