Chapter one
Year 2062
In the abandoned storage building, Sally and Daisy cautiously investigated their surroundings.
“Are you ready to go inside?” Sally asked, holding her flashlight steady.
“Mhm, totally ready,” Daisy replied, her voice trembling.
As they ventured in, Daisy clung to Sally’s back.
“You can’t hide behind me forever, Daisy,” Sally chided.
“I’m not hiding. I’m protecting you from behind,” Daisy retorted.
“Sure you are,” Sally thought, knowing Daisy was using her as a human shield.
A noise to their right startled them. From the shadows emerged a Yegaer wielding a sickle, bloodied and menacing. With a flick of her wrist, Sally’s strings sliced the Yegaer into a million pieces.
“That was easier than I expected,” Sally said as the strings retracted into her gloves. She turned and saw hundreds more Yegaers advancing.
“What are we going to do, Sally?” Daisy asked, panic rising in her voice.
“There’s one thing we can do,” Sally replied. She pulled a grenade from her hip, tossed it at the Yegaers, and shouted, “Run!”
They bolted as a massive explosion erupted behind them. Daisy sprinted towards a crumbled wall, leaping through it only to realize they were in mid-air.
“Ahhhhhh!” she screamed as she plummeted. She used her flux energy to keep herself safe from not dying from the fall. She fell into a ditch where she building was on her knees and trying to get up. But she heard feet walking towards
“I came here to save Daisy,” a voice said. She looked up to see Griffin standing above her.
“Weeeeekaling,” he mocked.
“Shut up!” Daisy snapped, furious.
A giant explosion rocked the building as Sally burst out, Yegaers swarming behind her. Daisy and Sally prepared to fight, while Griffin watched.
“Flame style, flame universe,” a voice intoned. All the Yegaers disintegrated as Adam appeared, flames emanating from his blade.
“Hey Daisy, hey honey,” Adam greeted.
“Hello, Adam,” Sally replied, blushing slightly.
“Wow, these bastards show up just in time,” Daisy thought.
“What’s with that look, Daisy? You should be happy we saved you,” Nicholas said, appearing beside Griffin. Daisy ran up from the ditch and hugged him tightly.
“I was so scared. I don’t ever want to go through that again,” she said.
“Wow, the crybaby hugging her boyfriend. Unlike you, Sally—you’re a wife badass beating up Yegaers,” Griffin teased.
“Thank you, this wife is the best I will ever be, even somewhere else,” Sally said, glancing at Adam. Adam, feeling her gaze, moved to stand beside Griffin and Nicholas.
“Are you really that scared of her?” Griffin asked.
“I’m afraid of what she might do to me,” Adam admitted.
“By the way, did you complete the mission in San Francisco?” Sally inquired. The trio exchanged worried glances.
Later, in the Yeager Force headquarters, Falcon, the leader of the Yeager force.
“So, 300 humans died due to a Yeager rank, and whose brilliant idea was it to skip the mission?” Falcon demanded. Adam and Nicholas pointed at Griffin.
“Boss, let me hunt down the bastard and kill it,” Griffin volunteered, only to receive a smack from Falcon.
As they left the office, they headed to the break room to play video games.
“How did no one tell us it was a Yeager rank? I would’ve killed it,” Griffin said, killing a enemy
“It was our fault those 300 people died. We are to blame,” Adam said solemnly.
“No, those humans challenged the Yeager rank themselves. They should have let the strongest handle it,” Griffin argued.
“Are you saying the strong should handle everything while the weak die?” Adam asked, incredulous.
“Yes, the weak should bow to the strong,” Griffin declared.
“We protect humanity, and you’re saying we shouldn’t care about them?” Adam yelled.
“Those are your ideals. I focus on getting stronger,” Griffin retorted, flames flickering around Adam.
“Perfect time for ice cream,” Nicholas said, dashing out as Falcon entered.
“What the hell is going on in here?” Falcon demanded. Adam’s flames extinguished, and Griffin stood still sitting.
“Nothing, boss. Do you need something?” Adam asked.
“Come with me, both of you,” Falcon ordered. They followed him.
“You two are going on a new mission,” Falcon said.
“Pass. I don’t want a lame mission,” Griffin replied.
“No, the higher-ups specifically requested you. Retrieve someone and erase their memories and flux energy,” Falcon explained. They were intrigued.
“Who is this person?” Adam asked.
“She’s the Flux Princess, she has boundless flux energy ,” Falcon revealed.
“If the Yegaers get her, we’ll lose this war. But if we erase her memories and flux energy, we’ll be fine,” Griffin deduced.
“Exactly,” Falcon confirmed.
“But who is she?” Adam pressed. Falcon stopped and turned to Griffin.
“It’s your sister, Natalia Locke,” Falcon said. Griffin’s eyes widened in shock.
“No way! She can’t even use flux energy,” Griffin protested.
“Somehow, she can. You two are heading to New York City to pick her up and take her to Glacier National Park in Montana to erase it,” Falcon instructed.
Days later, Adam and Griffin arrived in New York City. Walking together, Adam asked, “Griffin, two days ago you said your sister couldn’t use flux energy. How did she get it now?”
“I have no idea. My family, the Locke family, is one of the strongest in the world, but they treated Natalia as nothing and sent her to New York to live her life,” Griffin explained.
“Your family sounds terrible,” Adam commented.
“It really is,” Griffin agreed.
They arrived at her apartment. “You get her. I’ll stay here,” Griffin said.
“Understood,” Adam replied. Inside the building, he took the elevator, thinking Griffin might be avoiding a reunion. Reaching her floor, he rang the doorbell. Suddenly, a massive explosion occurred. Shielded by his flames, Adam saw a girl being dragged away by a Yegaer. Adam rushed in and killed the Yegaer.
“The Yegaers are here, Griffin,” Adam said.
As Griffin heard this, a knife flew past him, which he caught. “So, you’re Griffin Locke. You’re quite popular among the Yegaers,” his attacker said.
“Thanks, but I’m going to kill you now,” Griffin declared, drawing his sword. In a split second, the Yegaer’s head was off. “Weakling,” Griffin muttered.
“Adam, I’m coming up to you. Wait for me,” Griffin said.
“Understood,” Adam replied.
Meanwhile, at the top of the World Trade Center, Luna and another woman watched.
“So, Night Sora, do you want to lead the operation to kill the Flux Princess?” Luna asked.
“Its Saito. I took my husband’s last name. But sure, it sounds fun,” she said with a smile.
