Faced with Asuma's request, Night Star merely picked up his teacup, took a light sip, and calmly said,

"Why bother humiliating yourself?"

"Cut the crap!"

Asuma snorted coldly, stiffening his neck as he spoke.

"I just want to see clearly how big the gap between us really is!"

"Is that so?"

Night Star smiled slightly, lightly tapping his fingers on the table, producing a rhythmic sound.

"You've already become one of the Twelve Guardian Ninja. Is it really necessary to compete with me? Losing face isn't a good look."

Asuma felt his vision blur for a moment and then rubbed his eyes, noticing nothing unusual. After a brief pause, he continued in a deep voice.

"Stop with the excuses. Losing face is my own problem. Just say whether you'll fight or not!"

"Alright."

Night Star stood up and responded, walking out of the barbecue restaurant first.

Kakashi and the others followed as well. Looking at Asuma, who was eager yet tense as if facing a formidable enemy, Kakashi sighed helplessly and said,

"The difference in talent is so vast between you two. You're not even in the same league. What's the point of a duel?"

Might Guy, however, shook his head, disagreeing with Kakashi.

"As long as you work hard enough, you can defeat geniuses."

"Hard work, huh? Maybe."

Kakashi had a thought but kept it to himself.

Back in the Ninja Academy, he had already realized that Night Star Uchiha never displayed his full strength.

Perhaps it was because Night Star understood that with the status of the Uchiha clan, showing exceptional talent would only provoke the village leaders' distrust.

Hard work might surpass talent.

But ordinary people, unless they find an alternative path, can never overcome geniuses of this level through sheer effort.

Moreover, Night Star is effort far surpassed Asuma's.

"Let's begin!"

Asuma shouted, quickly forming several hand signs.

"Fire Style: Great Flame Technique!"

Intense flames spewed from his mouth, surging toward Night Star.

"Where... where are the people who were eating with me?"

Hearing Asuma's question, the shopkeeper frowned impatiently and said,

"Them? They left half an hour ago. Didn't you watch them leave?"

"How is that possible?!"

In Asuma's memory, only five minutes had passed since they left the barbecue restaurant.

Yet the shopkeeper said Kurenai and the others had left half an hour ago?

Could it be... another genjutsu?

But Asuma couldn't understand. Night Star hadn't activated his Sharingan, nor had he made any hand signs. How had he trapped him in a genjutsu?

Asuma suddenly remembered. When he issued the challenge, Night Star had started tapping his fingers on the table, producing a rhythmic sound.

Asuma couldn't believe it.

Night Star Uchiha had mastered an extremely rare auditory genjutsu?

In general, genjutsu can be divided into three types.

The first type, like Kurenai's, uses hand signs to disrupt the enemy's chakra flow. It's the simplest and least complex type.

The second type is the Uchiha clan's Sharingan, the so-called visual genjutsu.

The last type, although rare, is virtually impossible to defend against.

It uses auditory cues to manipulate the enemy's mind.

Asuma had heard of auditory genjutsu, which typically required instruments like flutes to be effective.

But Night Star Uchiha, with just the sound of his fingers tapping the table, had trapped a jonin like himself in a genjutsu?

And even altered his perception of time's flow?

Such talent was truly terrifying.

On the other side.

After finishing their meal, Kakashi, Might Guy, and Hayate left first.

Kurenai stayed behind, looking at Night Star is profile, and hesitantly said,

"Um... since we're all old classmates, losing to you like this won't leave Asuma with a psychological shadow, will it?"

Night Star replied indifferently,

"This was the gentlest way I could think of to defeat him."
