Chapter 159: The Elf's Surprise (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_2
Now, he was a "poor farmer" in terms of the number of witchcraft he knew, so he was in no position to be picky. Even though he was of the highest affinity to the fire element, he only mastered two witchcraft spells.
One of these spells was "Scorching Touch", an entry-level contact-based witchcraft. Although it had decent power, it came with many limitations in actual combat.
For instance, during the battle with the flesh-spirit of the tree, it was only with the help of the Sorcery Scroll "Frosty Gale" that he found an opportunity to cast it.
Moreover, "Scorching Touch" required continuous guidance to inflict maximum damage.
In contrast, the casting and effect of "High-Temperature Force Field" were much easier.
Once successfully cast, "High-Temperature Force Field" created a high-temperature field around Rein for about a minute.
Just as Rein wanted to test how the power of "High-Temperature Force Field" had changed, he heard the "clippity-clop" of horse hooves.
Looking out the window of the storage room on the second floor, Rein spotted the Crowley family carriage, adorned with the emblem of a rose and Kite Shield, slowly approaching his home.
After tidying up a bit, Rein went downstairs.
Just as he reached the carriage, a servant quickly opened the door of the carriage, and two beautiful girls dressed in cashmere long skirts and draped in light-colored mink shawls stepped out hurriedly. It was Jenny and her best friend, Agatha.
At the first sight of Rein, the noble young ladies' eyes lit up instantly.
"Lord Reine, you've become even more manly in just a few days!" Jenny couldn't help but praise.
"Thank you!" Hearing the girl's compliment, Rein felt naturally good.
Manly?
Well...
But in Rein's view, it must have been the increase in his spiritual power that enhanced his charm.
"By the way, Lord Reine, this is my best friend Agatha. You remember her, right?" Jenny blinked and introduced.
"Of course, the beautiful Miss Agatha Wiggins. I most certainly remember. Hello!" Rein greeted with a smile.
"Lord Reine, hello." Agatha's face, sprinkled with freckles, flushed slightly as she gave Rein a ladylike curtsy.
Although Miss Agatha had some freckles on her nose, it did not detract from her beauty but instead gave her a youthful vitality.
"Lord Reine, shall we set off now? My father is not at home today, so you can spend more time in the library," Agatha proposed.
"Sure, thank you, Miss Agatha." Although Rein found it strange to hear Agatha say this, as it seemed like a young couple hiding from their parents for a secret rendezvous, he couldn't deny the good intentions.
Moreover, Rein was quite eager to see if he could find anything valuable in the Wiggins' library, so he did not dwell on the awkwardness.
The three of them boarded the carriage and headed for the Wigging family estate where Agatha lived. Find your next read on empire
Once inside the carriage, Agatha took off her mink shawl, revealing her pale shoulders. The fully blossomed curves of the young girl were youthful and alluring.
"Lord Reine, Jenny has been mentioning you these past few days, she said you..."
"Agatha, stop talking nonsense in front of Lord Reine..."
Jenny's face turned red as she immediately covered Agatha's mouth.
Agatha, in turn, quickly 'retaliated' by tickling Jenny, and soon, the two beauties were laughing and playfully tussling with each other.
Rein watched the scene unfold with a gentle smile, and shook his head slightly without a word.
...
Just minutes before Rein had come downstairs, a squirrel had leaped down from the branches rapidly and slipped into Rein's bedroom through a partly open window.
After some searching, the squirrel's large eyes betrayed a very human-like expression of puzzlement.
This was because it hadn't found the Dark Mother Tree seed it was looking for, nor even sensed its presence.
The squirrel was naturally the transformed Elf.
It appeared thoughtful, recalling the process of following Rein all the way, including to the sheriff's office, which it had observed from the side.
As for last night... the Elf had checked every few minutes.
Therefore, it was certain that if the young Knight had not hidden the Dark Mother Tree seed, then it must be... carried on his person!
Having realized this, the squirrel quickly planned its escape.
But in the next second, it froze. The bedroom door was quietly opening, and a human girl, dressed in a pale gray layered cincher, was staring with wide, curious eyes at it.
And its gaze was fixated on the wooden amulet on the girl's chest that it recognized all too well.
Anna had just heard some rustling from Rein's room and, curious, had opened the door to check but instead found this adorable squirrel.
Seeing how it rummaged through things so cleverly, she assumed it was looking for food.
"What a cute little fellow, are you hungry? There's not much to eat here in Rein's room. Come here to me." Anna said softly, squatting down and extending her hands towards the squirrel, ready to embrace it.
The squirrel hesitated but quickly turned and ran towards the window, disappearing from Anna's sight.
Anna couldn't help but feel disappointed!
That squirrel had given her a particularly warm feeling, but unfortunately, it had run away.
The squirrel, still in its guise as the black-haired Elf, was now leaping quickly along the roadside trees, pursuing the carriage where Rein was.
