Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Revenge Without Waiting Until Tomorrow
Chapter 39: Revenge Without Waiting Until Tomorrow
Memories of the past appeared.
Dim lights, a shabby house, and the man with an angry face drinking beer.
No crying out loud, because crying would make Father angry, and when Father is angry, he hits people, using slippers, chairs, sticks, or anything handy to beat.
"You waste! Trash!"
He hit while shouting loudly.
"Why did you give birth to a daughter? I need a son! Do you understand what 'Five succeed of men' means? Money, cars, houses, sons, wives, do you understand? Why did you give me a daughter? Want our family name to die out, don't you? This kind of waste will not carry our family name after being married, why am I raising this thing?"
He also beat Mother, cursing while pulling her hair, pushing her to the ground and punching her one blow at a time.
"It's because of you! Without you, why should I live a life like this!"
Mother also hit others. She used needles to stab, used her nails to scratch, and screamed louder than Father.
There were always many reasons for the beatings.
If you left the house too late in the morning, you'd be beaten, and if you came home too late at night, you'd be beaten.
If you spoke too loudly, you'd be beaten, even if someone just saw you in the hallway, that was not allowed.
I was very hungry.
Because there was often nothing to eat.
Father and Mother said this was to remember the hard days, you had to learn to endure hunger to grow up.
Knock knock knock!
The knocking sound rang out again.
Father owed a lot of money, and whenever the creditors came, he pretended not to be home.
He said next time he would definitely win, he took all his salary and almost never brought any home. He stole Mother's earnings too, if she didn't give it to him, he would beat her, then Mother would come and beat me.
If Father was caught by a creditor on the street, he would be beaten, then return home and beat me and Mother even harder. Mother would also beat me.
The teacher once told me that parents are a child's harbor.
What is a harbor?
Does it hurt like this?
…..
Takahashi Takakai opened his eyes.
He felt as if his vision was being affected by something, the image in front of him became blurry, and he couldn't see clearly at all.
A severe dizziness surged in his head, it seemed like there was always a sound ringing but he couldn't hear it clearly.
His limbs were numb, and although he tried to move, every motion was incredibly slow, as if all his senses had been paralyzed, unable to control his body normally.
Next to him, there was the suppressed moan of a woman.
Someone was struggling right next to him, but couldn't escape from something, squirming and twitching on the floor.
Where is this?
In his haze, Takahashi Takakai wanted to sit up, but no matter what he did, he couldn't lift himself up.
"You disobedient dog!"
An angry voice shouted, accompanied by a feeling of coldness.
A pair of hands grabbed Takakai's face, forcefully pulling his mouth open.
A needle pierced his lips, stretching them, the thin thread passed through the flesh.
"Ugh…"
He couldn't scream.
His whole body lost the ability to resist.
Only the intense pain, extremely clear, remained at this moment.
It hurts... so much...
The needle pierced again, stabbing and pulling out.
Takahashi Takakai could only hear the painful moans of the woman struggling beside him, the moans growing more suffocated, as if her mouth was sealed by something. At the same time, on his own body, the pain became increasingly sharp, almost unbearable, to the point that he wanted to die.
I can't... I can't stay like this...
I have to do something... I must do something...
I absolutely can't... die here like this...
From the haze and chaos in his mind, Takakai tried to scrape together some ability to think.
He struggled, doing his best, enduring the burning pain of droplets hitting his skin, enduring the intense pain as if every piece of his flesh were being sewn together with needles. Bit by bit, he managed to touch the rescue badge in his jacket pocket.
There was no time to play around with the small pin on the badge anymore.
Grinding his teeth, Takakai immediately used the sharp pin at the back of the badge to stab it straight into his shoulder, driving the pin deep into his flesh.
The chaotic sounds in his ears seemed, for a moment, to turn into the synchronized shouts of a group of young men running. Then, the two sounds intersected, tangled, and became a loud, jarring noise. Finally, they turned into a sharp roar with intense vibrations.
Takahashi Takakai collapsed to the floor.
His vision gradually became clearer, and he could try to see that he seemed to be in a severely distorted room.
The walls were structurally slanted, some areas were indented, others bulged, and some slanted diagonally against the floor and ceiling.
Tables and chairs were floating upside down on the ceiling, plates of food were placed on the walls, the kitchen was almost split in half, with one side leaning on the floor and the other lying horizontally on the wall, connecting to a window. Other furniture was similarly distorted—nothing was normal.
Whoosh—
Takahashi Takakai saw a kettle boiling, continuously releasing hot steam.
There were many kettles scattered throughout the room, so many that looking at them felt unsettling.
So many that the whole room was enveloped in mist, obscured by steam from the countless kettles.
"Huff... ugh..."
Takahashi Takakai couldn't get up from the ground.
His clothes were soaked, completely drenched in scalding water.
The pain was clear all over his body, and Takakai could feel that many parts of his flesh were sticking tightly to his clothes. Just moving a little would tear them off his body, so his clothes quickly became stained with dark red.
"Huff... ugh..."
Takahashi Takakai couldn't make a sound.
The threads had pierced through his mouth, and blood continued to flow from the wound. Each breath brought even more intense pain.
It's okay, there's still some good news.
Takahashi reassured himself in his mind.
One, his right arm was severed, and now the wound had been burned by the boiling water, so the bleeding had slowed down.
The other thing was that, right beside him, a woman was lying, writhing on the ground.
It was Maeda Miwa, or rather, a player with more experience who had disguised herself as [Maeda Miwa] to infiltrate the game—a profit-seeking person who wanted to exploit Takakai and Kaguya, the newcomers, to enjoy the spoils.
Her situation was much worse than Takakai's.
The threads didn't just sew her mouth but extended all over her body. Every part of her body had traces of being sewn together, and her burns were far worse than Takakai's. Large patches of flesh had fallen off, and her entire body looked like a monkey that had been boiled alive.
If it weren't for he mouth being sewn shut, really, even in this agonizing pain, Takakai would have wanted to laugh at this woman.
But before he could do so, she suddenly turned her head and looked straight at Takakai.
"It's all your fault!"
Although she didn't speak, Takakai could imagine the words she wanted to say.
He really wanted to curse her out, but his mouth was sewn shut as well, so after thinking for a moment, he reluctantly raised his hand and gave her the middle finger.
He could see the furious expression on her face, which made Takakai feel quite satisfied.
But right after that, she suddenly crawled up, using all fours to ground herself, and with extreme speed, charged towards Takakai.
Takahashi Takakai wanted to avoid her, but his body was severely burned. Despite gritting his teeth and enduring the pain, he could only struggle to roll over, completely unable to avoid her actions.
Bam!
In a fit of rage, the woman lunged at Takakai, pinned him to the ground, and raised a small knife.
The knife appeared ordinary, but it was so sharp that it seemed like something not from this world; with just a light cut, it could sever bone, directly chopping off Takakai's right arm.
As she prepared to stab him, Takakai's heart rate rapidly spiked. He quickly tried to dodge, but saw the knife embed itself into the ground beside him, its blade slicing through the concrete as easily as it would through sand.
This knife is definitely not an ordinary one! Could it be some kind of supernatural object?!
In a panic, the woman withdrew the knife and prepared to strike again.
There was no more room to dodge, no way to escape at this rate.
He clenched his fist tightly.
Before the woman could stab down, Takakai threw a powerful punch with his left hand, striking her directly in the face.
Bam!
The woman was unprepared for the punch, her head snapped back, blood pouring from her mouth, her lips torn open.
Takakai's body seemed to suddenly gain strength, his clothes began transforming into rescue gear, and he stood up forcefully, pinning the woman to the ground.
Based on the previous encounters between this woman and Shinomiya Kaguya, although she was an experienced player, her stamina wasn't that strong; she was just much faster than an average person. In fact, Takakai's timely reaction was enough to push her out of her stance.
Also, the woman did not act like a seasoned player such as Old Guo, perhaps she wasn't good at direct confrontations and pretended to be weak, hiding in the team to take advantage?
If that's the case, the most effective strategy Takakai could think of was to pin the woman down and beat her mercilessly.
"Ugh… Ugh…"
The woman, pinned beneath Takakai, struggled to get up and counterattack. She had great strength, far surpassing that of an average adult man, but Takakai was pouring all his power into his body, easily keeping her pinned, rendering her immobile.
Takakai clenched his fist again.
The woman swung the knife, aiming for Takahashi's face.
Bam!
However, with his longer reach, Takahashi's punch came first, landing directly on her left eye, filling her eye socket with blood.
Her resistance weakened, but she still didn't give up, continuing to swing the knife.
Thus, Takahashi's third, fourth, and fifth punches landed in quick succession, each one fueled by all the strength he had, showing no mercy as they struck her face, almost deforming it.
Initially, the woman still tried to counterattack, her knife cutting into Takakai's face, causing wounds on his cheek, ear, and arm, adding several more injuries to his body.
In response, each punch from Takahashi became stronger, each one landing on the woman's head with a heavy sound.
Soon enough, the woman's gaze became unfocused, the knife falling from her hand as she lay motionless on the ground, her eyes lifeless.
Breathing heavily, Takakai used his left hand to snatch the sharp knife from her grasp. The moment he touched the knife, he felt a shiver run through his body, then realized that at some point, his suit had transformed into rescue gear.
It seemed like a surgical knife.
Just holding this knife, Takakai could imagine a blood-soaked doctor, bent over a hospital bed, using the scalpel to cut into something.
He couldn't keep the knife for long; holding it would affect his mental state.
Realizing this, Takakai carefully used the small knife to cut the thread on his mouth. Luckily, the knife was incredibly sharp, and as soon as the blade touched, the thread automatically snapped, so Takakai didn't have to endure much pain during this process.
As for the woman who had been knocked down and lay motionless, Takakai still felt fear that if she died, she might turn into some grotesque creature and chase after him. Therefore, he didn't kill her but instead severed her leg bones and continued searching her body. He found a dark red doll, resembling a cloth doll. He wasn't sure if this was another "obsession" of hers, but Takakai decided to pocket it before slowly standing up.
As for the woman who pretended to be dead on the ground, after her leg was severed, she started to struggle again and was punched a few more times by Takakai. It was clear that when she had first jumped out, she was full of momentum, but now, she was nothing more than a dead dog.
"Hehe, you think you can just take from me? You thought it'd be that easy, huh? Pfft—Eat shit, you bitch."
Finally, Takakai spat on the woman, cursed her, and due to the pain from his mouth wound, he gritted his teeth and turned away, starting to observe his surroundings more closely.
It seemed like this house had been completely deformed.
There was no obvious light source, but Takakai could still see the room, possibly because of the badge on his chest. He began to notice that his body was changing, partly thanks to the badge.
The burning sensation on his body had significantly diminished; it seemed like the badge had a greater effect than he had imagined. When worn, not only did it help him heal his wounds, but it also seemed to affect his body.
However, the longer he wore it, the more his consciousness seemed at risk of being altered, so Takakai didn't dare to wear it for too long and only used it in his current condition.
Now, how could he get out of here?
Takakai thought for a moment, then began to scan the surroundings. His gaze pierced through a steaming kettle.
Then, he saw something behind the kettle.
A pale woman's face slowly emerged from behind the kettle.
She was holding the kettle, one hand holding a sewing kit. Her face was bloodless, expressionless, just staring at Takakai intently, her lips slowly moving.
[The dog doesn't listen!]
