We Married in a Flash After One-Night Stand

Xia Zhi and He Jinnan had just entered the lobby when Yan Zihang popped up from somewhere, smiling and greeting them.

"The pair of you have time to come eat at my place today? Tired of hot pot?"

He Jinnan said, "My eldest brother has come back from a business trip, we're meeting here for a meal."

Xia Zhi, however, asked in surprise, "Boss Yan, this restaurant is yours too?"

"Mmm-hmm!" Yan Zihang nodded with a sing-song tone, "Sister-in-law, next time bring friends over, just give me a heads-up."

Xia Zhi knew he was just being courteous, and obligingly said, "Okay."

He Jinnan said, "We'll head on up first," and taking Xia Zhi's hand, began to walk away.

"Brother Jinnan!" Suddenly, a tender female voice called from behind, and the two of them stopped to look back.

Xia Zhi saw a girl who was pretty and cute nearing them with a bright, direct gaze towards He Jinnan.

When she got closer, the girl's gaze paused briefly on Xia Zhi before returning to He Jinnan with a smile, "Who are you meeting here?"

"My elder brother."

He Jinnan then introduced her, "Here, Yun Shan, let me introduce you. This is Xia Zhi, from now on you can call her sister-in-law."

"Wife, this is the little princess of the Fu Family, Yun Shan. Get to know each other."

Xia Zhi extended her hand amicably towards Fu Yunshan with a smile, "Miss Fu, hello."

Fu Yunshan glanced disdainfully at her outstretched hand and, out of consideration for He Jinnan's face, gave a shallow touch as a greeting.

Xia Zhi felt displeased but said nothing, awkwardly retracting her hand.

He Jinnan's brow slightly furrowed, about to say something when Yan Zihang suddenly cut him off.

"Little Princess, only got eyes for your Brother Jinnan? Can't even see your Brother Zihang here, can you?" Yan Zihang asked with feigned jealousy.

Fu Yunshan responded to him with a mock-gagging expression, "Still Brother Zihang? Haven't I always been calling you a miser?"

"Looking for a beating, you are!" Yan Zihang laughed, pretending to crack her on the head.

"What's all the excitement here?" Another person came over while talking.

This time, the newcomer resembled He Jinnan by about fifty to sixty percent, doubtless, this must be He Jinnan's elder brother.

Seeing He Jinhong, He Jinnan looked really pleased, "Big brother!"

"Jinnan!" He Jinhong replied with a smile.

The two brothers shook hands and bumped shoulders.

He Jinhong was nearly the same height as his brother and bore a similar appearance, both refined and handsome. If there was any difference, it was perhaps a more pronounced assertiveness in He Jinhong's demeanor, which made him a bit daunting.

He Jinnan took Xia Zhi's hand, smiling, "Big brother, this is my newlywed wife, Xia Zhi."

"Xiao Zhi, this is my elder brother."

Having learned from Fu Yunshan's response, Xia Zhi didn't reach out her hand this time, merely nodding politely to He Jinhong, "Big brother, hello."

He Jinhong looked at Xia Zhi, whose eyes were as delicate as a painting, serene and endearing, standing beside He Jinnan and looking quite well-behaved. His brows imperceptibly twitched slightly.

"Hello." He replied with a light smile.

Then, turning to He Jinnan, he said, "Little brother, you've really struck it lucky."

He Jinnan replied with a modest laugh, shaking his head, "Not at all. Big brother, let's go upstairs."

Fu Yunshan watched the three of them enter the elevator, withdrew her gaze, and, pouting, said to Yan Zihang, "I don't see what's so special about her."

Yan Zihang, no longer sporting a flippant smile, said seriously, "Regardless, she is now Jinnan's wife. You're not allowed to behave like that anymore."

"Pshh!" Fu Yunshan dismissed him unconcernedly, her face full of defiance.

The trio entered Mu Dan Hall. By this time, cousins from the second uncle's family and the younger sister He Jiarui had all arrived, sitting on the sofa chatting.

As they saw the three of them, everyone stood up and came over to greet them warmly.

He Jinhong looked around and asked, "Lao San not here yet?"

He Jinnan answered, "Jinxing just messaged me, said something's come up, he'll be a bit late."

He Jinhong replied, "Then we won't wait for him, let's start the meal and chat while we eat."

Previously back home, Xia Zhi had met her sister-in-law He Jiarui, and also the second uncle's daughter He Jiabi and son He Jinyan. Jiarui was very friendly, linking arms with her and chatting. The other two, however, looked at her with disdain, not bothering to speak with her. She didn't take it to heart, just chatting with Jiarui.

The dishes were soon served, and everyone began eating lively.

"Jinnan, the company has really been indebted to you while I've been away. You've worked hard," He Jinhong raised his glass, "I toast this to you, brother."

He Jinnan, who had just placed a shrimp ball on Xia Zhi's plate, quickly put down his chopsticks and raised his glass too, "Big brother, you're too kind. As the younger brother, isn't it my job to share the burden and worries?"

He Jinhong laughed heartily, looking very pleased, the brothers clinked glasses and drank.

After refilling their cups, He Jinhong added, "But, Lao Er, I didn't expect that I'd be away for just over ten days and you'd go get married. You really surprised me. An Ruo and I just got engaged."

He finished talking and looked at Xia Zhi, "Sister-in-law, our Lao Er is honest and treats people well. I hope you two will be very happy together."

Xia Zhi glanced shyly at He Jinnan, then nodded a little reservedly, "Big brother, Jinnan and I will take good care of each other."

He Jinnan, hearing this, squeezed her hand tightly below the table.

Across, cousin He Jiabi asked, "Big brother, why didn't An Ruo come today?"

"She's on a business trip too, hasn't come back yet." He Jinhong laughed helplessly, "That little boss of a jewelry store is busier than me. Otherwise, we wouldn't have been engaged for a year and not had the wedding yet, letting Lao Er steal a march on us."

His words prompted a knowing laughter from everyone.

Xia Zhi nibbled on the pile of food He Jinnan had heaped onto her small plate, observing the close-knit interaction between the He siblings, not sure if it was genuine or just for show.

"Sister-in-law," He Jiarui spoke to her, "after we finish eating, are you and my second brother going to head back?"

Xia Zhi looked at her, the young sister-in-law with clear and innocent eyes, clean and simple looking, and very cordial towards her. She felt a strong liking for her.

She gave a slight smile, "Well, that depends on what your second brother plans. Do you have something else in mind?"

He Jiarui smiled, "I was just talking with my cousin about going to a bar to sit for a while after eating, and I was wondering if you and my second brother would like to join. Usually, my second brother isn't keen on such noisy places."

"Oh, is that so." Xia Zhi said, "Then I'll ask him later."

"Alright, it's more fun to go out together," He Jiarui smiled as she placed a slice of lotus root on her plate for her.
