Chapter 8: Don't Mess with the Void... IT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY.
- "Ha… That idiot really thought he had a chance with you, Lunira…" said Cassian, with disdain.
- "Hahaha! Do you remember his face when he realized it was Lunira who told us to do that to him?" commented one of Cassian's friends, laughing.
- "Ha… That fool is worthless. I hate that type" added Lunira, with a cruel smile.
Cassian, indignant, continued:
- "But honestly, I really needed to smash someone's face. That bitch Aurëalis didn't even give me the time of day when I approached her… Tsk!"
- "Ha! Even a bitch is better than that girl. Did you see how many males were around her? I wouldn't be surprised if she was with all of them! Hahahaha!" provoked Lunira, joining Cassian's laughter.
While hiding behind a tree, listening to every word, my blood boiled. My heart raced like never before, not just from anger, but from the absolute contempt those words stirred in me. I knew everything they said was born of envy and the pathetic ego they cultivated. To me, people like them had no place in the universe. At that moment, I knew exactly the kind of lesson I would give them. A lesson that would be etched forever, not just in their minds, but in their souls.
...Sound of vegetation rustling…
- "Good evening to everyone present… " I said, with a calm smile, as I stepped out of the shadows of the forest.
- "Huh? Who are you? And what do you want here?" asked Cassian, confused but maintaining his arrogant tone.
- "Me? I'm glad you asked. After all, I'm here to talk to you about some things I heard… and clear some things up" I replied, still smiling, with my eyes closed.
- "Ha… What? You came to clear something up? With us? Ha… Haha… Hahahaha!" Cassian started laughing, and the group soon joined him.
- "Pay attention, kid. Who do you think you are to come clear something up with us?" Cassian stood up, walking towards me with an air of superiority.
- "Kid? We're the same age, old man. And one more thing: why don't you sit down so we can talk?" I continued smiling, keeping my eyes closed.
- "NOW!" I added, in a tone so dark it seemed to come from another world.
The moment my voice echoed, a crushing pressure settled in. Those who were standing fell to their knees. Those who were sitting became unable to move, no matter how hard they tried. It was as if they were trapped under the force of a planet with gravity thousands of times greater. Or perhaps, as if there was a black hole hovering over each of them, impossible to bear.
- "ARRRGH… W-WHAT DID YOU… DO?" Cassian managed to ask, visibly suffocated.
- "What I did or didn't do doesn't matter… Sigh… Honestly, you've caused me some problems, and I'm here to collect payment." I responded indifferently.
- "But first, let's go somewhere more private…" I said, lightly tapping one of my feet on the ground.
The moment I tapped my foot, everything around seemed the same: the school, the forest, the sky. But something was different. Time had stopped. The stars, which once shone like lamps in the firmament, began to disappear one by one, until the sky became completely black, empty.
- "Sigh… Okay, you can move now." I released them from the pressure.
- "Huff… Huff… Who are you?" Cassian asked, panting, his eyes full of fear.
- "Who I am is none of your business… I'm here because I heard rumors that you're the kind of people even the school laws can't contain. And that you make the lives of those who irritate you, and the people close to that person, a living hell. Is that true?" I asked, in a casual tone.
- "Ha… That's none of your business, you bas—!" He began, but, raising my right hand, I suspended him in the air.
As I slowly closed my hand, he began to scream in pain. It was as if his organs were being crushed by an invisible force.
- "Listen carefully… He who commands does so because he can, he who obeys does so because he is wise. Understood?" I said, staring directly at him.
- "ARRRGGHH! I-I… I UNDERSTAND! AAAARGH!" Cassian screamed, bleeding from his mouth.
- "Great. Now answer the previous question." My voice was firm and cold.
- "Huff… Huff… N-no… We would never do that… Huff… It's too much work… Huff… and could attract the attention of more powerful people… Our target is always unique… Huff…" he replied, panting.
- "I see. Well, then one problem is solved. Two more to go" I said, still smiling, with my eyes closed.
I turned to Lunira.
- "You, girl… Your name is Lunira, right?" I asked.
- "Y-yes… Why do you want to know?" She replied, with a scared and irritated look.
- "Let's say you caused me a big problem today… And do you know what I hate most in this world? I asked, approaching her, until we were face to face.
- "I-I don't know…" She said, retreating, visibly frightened.
- "I'll tell you what I hate…" I said, my voice growing in intensity.
- "I HATE BEING WOKEN UP WHEN I'M SLEEPING, YOU BITCH!" I shouted, as a storm of wind formed around us.
My shout echoed like thunder, accompanied by a gale that seemed an extension of my rage. Lightning crossed the sky, followed by deafening thunder, almost announcing an imminent storm.
...Sound of wind and thunder...
- "Look at me…" I ordered, my voice firm.
- "LOOK AT ME!" I repeated, now shouting, when she hesitated.
When she continued to avoid my gaze, I grabbed her hair, forcing her head close to mine. Her body trembled so much she could barely open her eyes, but instinctively, she half-opened them.
- "...W-why are you d-doing this?" She asked, stuttering in fear.
- "Why?" I repeated, with a cold smile.
- "I already told you... you interrupted my sleep, so I came to return the favor."
Even with my eyes closed, I knew my demeanor terrified her.
- "Listen well, you worms…" I continued.
- "I hate fights. I hate anything that disturbs my peace. But when someone bothers me, it becomes personal. What you're seeing now... is not even a fraction of what I'm capable of. My real desire would be to break all your bones, one by one, and watch as you eat your own limbs. Then, I'd throw you into the primordial void, a place where even hell dares not touch."
My voice trembled with rage as I stared at them.
- "However, as I said, I don't want to get involved in trouble, especially not with the school. So, let's resolve this in a more... peaceful way." I finished, relaxing my shoulders, still with a dark smile.
- "A-a peaceful way?" Lunira asked, hesitant.
- "Exactly. How about we end this without more trouble? No one gets hurt more than necessary, and we go on with our lives as if nothing happened."
- "...O-okay… but how?" She asked, still suspicious.
- "It's simple. The problem that made me wake up today is my roommate, Karix. You've caused him a lot of trouble. From now on, leave him alone. That way, I can sleep peacefully without having to take care of someone beaten up by a bunch of cowards like you."
- "...S-so that's why you're here…o-ok… we'll do that… is..t-that all?" She asked.
- "Yes, that's all."
- "O-okay. We promise we won't do anything to him anymore..." Lunira replied, trembling, and reluctantly.
- "Great. Now I can sleep knowing idiots like you won't bother me anymore." I smiled slightly.
- "Well... with that, our second problem is solved." I said, turning to them as quickly as a blink of an eye.
- "Now it's time for the third and final problem." I continued, raising my right hand slowly, as if holding something invisible.
With this gesture, the whole group, including Cassian and Lunira, began to levitate. As they hovered in the air, grunts and groans of pain began to echo. I was compressing their internal organs, forcing them into indescribable agony.
... Sounds of pain and agony...
- "You made some comments earlier that didn't please me at all. Comments about someone I met recently, but who I know, without a doubt, would never do what you said." My voice overflowed with rage as I intensified the pressure on their bodies.
- "If I ever... hear you talking about that person again, I swear what you're feeling now will seem like a fun trip compared to what I can really do to you." I said, letting a vengeful smile appear on my face.
- "DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" I asked.
- "Y-YES... AAAARGH... S-STOP... AAAARGH... P-PLEASE!" They begged, with evident pain in every word.
Although I had already achieved my goals, hearing the groans and screams of agony was almost satisfying, making me want to continue, even though they asked me to stop. It was a lesson. A guarantee that they would never dare cross my path again.
After a few seconds, I finally released them.
...Sounds of coughing and heavy breathing...
- "Well, with that, we've finished all the matters that brought me here. I hope you don't take it to heart, since, after all, you started it." I said with a cutting smile on my face.
- "I'm leaving now. You can go back to doing... whatever you were doing." I said, turning my back, ready to leave.
As I walked back, still with my eyes closed, I clearly felt the weight of angry and vengeful looks on me. I knew what that meant: they would still try something, and now I was the target.
...Sounds of footsteps...
So, to ensure there were no chances of this happening again, I stopped and turned slowly.
- "Oh, yes, one more thing..." I said, as I turned and opened my eyes.
At that moment, their gazes met mine. My eyes, black as the void, pulled them into an endless abyss: the eternal void. There, they were forced to face their worst nightmares, trapped in a torment that seemed to last years, though only seconds had passed in the real world.
When they returned to the forest, they were paralyzed, as if time around them had ceased. Their gazes wandered into the void, lost. Some let tears silently stream down their faces, while others trembled with uncontrollable fear. But to me, none of that mattered. They deserved much worse.
I closed my eyes again and spoke, with a dark voice, cutting through the silence:
- "Don't try anything you might regret... playing with the void is not a good idea. It doesn't know how to play."
With a serious face, I turned again and started walking back to where I came from. The darkness of the forest soon enveloped me, but before disappearing completely, I murmured:
- "Good night, gentlemen."
And then, I vanished into the forest, leaving only the sound of the wind and the weight of the terror I planted in their souls.
