Chapter 1: Fledgling Wings
The first thing I notice is the smell. It's sharp, earthy, and overwhelmingly real. The kind of thing i thought I'd never smell or experience.
I open my eyes, and the sky above is a canvas of leaves, sunlight flickering through like fireflies.
I'm in a forest.
The second thing I notice is the chair. It's beneath me, my legs folded uselessly like always. A wheelchair. Atleast it looks very high quality, this isn't normal steel. It has a blue tint and is very shiny. Looks good.
I raise my hands infront of me and just stare at them for a bit. "This is ... this is surreal. I can move my hands and I can feel the air and humidity on my hands and whole upper body. And I'm really muscular, not like a Jojos part 3 muscular where I'm a hulking beast it's like I'm very lean, almost no fat."
Why am I even saying this out loud? Well i guess i haven't been able to talk for more then a minute without gargling on my own saliva for a few years so I should be able to treat myself with a little speech..
Theres still a little thing Im confused about... well, it's the bag. It sits on my lap, a plain canvas sack, weirdly heavy. Something about it makes my stomach churn, but I don't open it right away. Not yet.
"Okay, think," I mutter, gripping the wheels and rolling forward and back a little. My voice echoes faintly in the quiet forest, broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves. The memories hit me suddenly, foreign but vivid. How to use Ten, and how to use Spin.
Th-This is crazy ... Spin, I understand Spin! My memories on it are kinda weird as it's in the perspective of Gyro Zeppeli at the end of the series. So i guess I'll use him as a refrence. As all i have to use are his memories.
Spin is connected to actual reality, it sounds crazy but let me explain.
if Gyro were to use spin one of his steel balls without any technique by just twirling it, the ball would just have a short lived spin just like any regular spinning object and will have a quite weak impact if launched against somebody, this is why Gyro uses a specific method to make these balls spin:
Gyro uses a sort of "circular" wrist motion while initiating the spin, a motion that resembles the one of a golden spiral, this movement is made with strength but also precision.
Which then gives the steel ball that type of movement. Let's suppose the ball is spinned like that on a reference of the golden rectangle, just like he does in the manga while teaching Johnny, The ball threw in that particular motion will initially spin closer to the edges of the rectangle, subsequently, by gaining momentum, the ball will start to spin closer to the inside of the reference rectangle, positioning itself near the center! The goal of the Zeppeli family is to reach "infinity" and Infinity is the rotation that happens at an infinitely precise point in space, thus, in this case, the ball spinning infinitely precisely near the center of the golden rectangle.
So If the ball is somehow thrown to somebody fast enough, the impact it will have will be focused on such a small point creating an explosion of energy that could potentially kill somebody of the spin is strong enough. How? Because it follows the golden spiral. And the golden spiral has a infinite center.
The golden spiral is a mathematical spiral that goes from the infinitely biggest and widest point to the infinitely smallest and narrowest one, this explains why the spin, if rotated in such a way, will gain intense momentum and energy by focusing all that power on a small point!
Gyro is smart and well trained, so that he is able to recognise the absolute measurements of a golden rectangle without using any physical reference to spin the ball on, Gyro only uses his wrist motion to activate this type of energetical surge. To do the perfect spin throw by accident is so impossibly rare it's about the same probability as the atoms in your foot perfectly slipping through the ground.
This is why only the Zeppeli family has discovered it throughout history even though theoretically anyone can do it. And since I was transfered knowledge of the spin by that entity, I can do that whenever I want.
So by spinning a object, I can make it gain force infinitely, and as the object gains more and more force as it gains momentum by going closer and closer to the infinite center of the spiral. Which of course it will never be accurate enough to reach the center and gain infinite spin without tusk act 4.
As the spinning balls gains more momentum and goes closer and closer to the center the power of it becomes more and more focused on a single spot, the center.
So using spin i can make any object lose zero force as it travels through the air, infact the air resistance would only add force to the object making it approach the center faster and faster.
And as a result, every movement i do instinctly follows the golden rotation, building up residual spin energy which i can use to spin stuff without moving a limb in a certain way, so if I have enough spin energy built up, I can stick a finger in someone's nose and turn their entire body to mush.
Well, I suppose I should be summoning my stand. And stop touching this weird smelling bag.
The bag shifts slightly as I reach into the air, palm open. "Alright... Tusk Act 1?"
It feels stupid saying it out loud, but then- there it is. A small, pink figure materializes in front of me, floating in mid-air. It has stubby arms, a beak with a string attached to it that connects to the little star on its head, and tiny blue eyes that seem to stare into my soul.
"Oh my God," I whisper. "It's... cute."
The stand tilts its head, as if it understands me. I can't help but grin. "Alright, let's see what you can do."
I focus, holding my breath. The memories swirl in my head, like instincts I've never had but somehow trust. With a flick of my fingers, Tusk Act 1 raises its hand, and I feel something build in my own. The air twists and compresses, a soft hum vibrating through my body.
Then, with a thought, I release it.
My nail flies out, spinning like a bullet. It cuts cleanly through a nearby branch, slicing it in half before embedding into the trunk behind it. I stare, wide-eyed. "Holy crap. That's... strong."
It even re-grows in 2 seconds!
I fire a few more nails, watching them cut through leaves and branches with precision. Each one spins like a miniature buzzsaw, tearing through anything soft enough. But-
*Slice*
What just happened? I missed a shot and it went into the bush and then-
The nail embedded into a rabbit! a weird one with antler horns, tough gray fur and bloodshot eyes. I gasp, panicking. "Oh no, oh no, oh no!"
The rabbit squeals, not in pain, but in confusion. Its body twists unnaturally around the nail, spinning violently like a ragdoll caught in a vortex. Its legs fold in ways they shouldn't, its spine bending as the Spin forces it to contort.
I watch, horrified. "Oh my God. It doesn't just cut, the spin stays..."
The nail didn't have enough force to pierce through the rabbit's tough hide completely, but what it left behind was worse. Its all ... contorted.
The rabbit's body finally untwists, falling limp to the ground. My stomach churns as I wheel closer, expecting it to be dead. But it isn't. It twitches and leaps away, wobbling, its horn bent sideways like a misshapen corkscrew. With a hole in its side.
I sit there for a moment, stunned. "Okay... noted. Tusk is terrifying."
Noted, my spin is stronger then Johnnys Spin. So when the nail is embedded into something it keeps spinning, plus in the manga most times the nail either cuts straight through or is embedded into a solid object and not living being. So that's why the spin-affer effects probably aren't shown.
Oh yeah, i forgot about Nen, I only know how to use Ten, but i use it subconsciously like I've been using ten my whole life. Strange, but it feels very energising.
It's like if I was breathing with a stuffy nose my whole life and it finally cleared up. I guess I can try to manipulate my Nen.
I close my eyes and visualise my aura, I see it. I'm able to grasp it. I'm currently controlling it to surround me instead of leaking away, which is basic ten.
Let me try to move it away, ren works by pushing your nen forwards to attack. So all I have to do is ...
I can not move my nen at all, it's like it's permanently in Ten mode. Understandable, it's better then It leaking away. It's more like I don't know how to move my nen in any way.
If I meditate just a bit longer and- oh my God what the fuck was that.
The leather bag just rolled around on my lap. It felt so ... wrong. I hated every second.
The bag on my lap shifts again, drawing my attention. Swallowing hard, I finally open it.
Inside is something fleshy, pink, and grotesque, the Saint's Arm. I can feel its power radiating, pulling at me, whispering that it's the key to more strength.
But when I think about eating it, my stomach lurches. Theres no way I'm doing that now, not yet.
Now that i think about it, when I was visualising my Nen, I could feel tusk as a extension of it. So I guess Tusk acts as my Nen ability. And when I used alot of my nail shots, my energy dropped ever so slightly.
Which means I don't have a stand technically, I have a Nen ability that acts like a stand. And everything I do with tusk drains some of my nen.
Doesn't matter anyways, once I get tusk act 2 I'll get the basic forms of nen.
Now that I think about it, I should really explore. I didn't come to this universe to think. Im pretty sure I heard a very light beep, like a beep from a car west of me. So maybe there's some civilisation there. Hopefully Hunter language is just English, cuz if not I'm screwed.
