Chapter 23
Chapter 23: The Understanding Sister?
Snore snore That was Wang Jie’s snoring nearby, while Wen Yang was tossing and turning on the bed.
Ning Chu lay flat on his bed, lifelessly staring at the dormitory ceiling, his mind a chaotic mess.
“A bunch of flirty foxes are still trying to hit on Wen Yang. If this can’t be resolved, he might end up giving himself away any moment now.”
“Zhang Shaoqing went to confess on his own and got rejected. No telling when he’ll turn dark; once that happens, peace will be a distant dream.”
He muttered softly, rolling over to rest his arm on his head, his eyes fixed on Zhang Shaoqing, who was gaming at the computer.
The plot related to Wen Yang was bearable. After all, that guy was just endlessly battling with the girls. As long as the story didn’t evolve into Ning Chu becoming a girl and teaming up with Wen Yang, the dormitory would only be dealing with a scumbag.
But Zhang Shaoqing… if he really turned into a villain, weekly girl sacrifices would become a norm.
As his roommate, Ning Chu feared he might also get dragged into the chaos.
How terrifying!
As for calling the police, that would likely be pointless for the main characters of a Small Royal Text.
Ning Chu, lost in worry, couldn’t fall asleep. He closed his eyes, but his mind was filled with scenes from novels, all showcasing him surrounded by boys.
His drowsiness vanished with his worries; lying down made him more awake, yet his eyelids were struggling to stay up.
Suddenly sitting up, he stared blankly ahead, scratching his head in frustration.
“Not sleeping yet?”
Zhang Shaoqing’s voice came from below. Ning Chu looked down to see him lounging with his legs crossed, playing on his phone.
“Can’t sleep, it’s annoying.”
Wang Jie and Wen Yang were already asleep, one snoring and the other breathing heavily; it was impossible for him to fall asleep now.
“Wanna come down and play a game?”
“Sure, why not?”
Zhang Shaoqing watched as Ning Chu slowly climbed down from the bed. In what seemed like just a week, his roommate felt different.
That once delicate young boy’s face now held an indescribable charm, with his eyes slightly reddened from fatigue adding an air of casual allure.
As he climbed down, his shorts tightened around his full behind and thighs, highlighting their curves, while his slender calves swayed lightly.
His previously flat body had made a lasting impression, but now it was filling out, and Zhang Shaoqing immediately noticed the change.
“Gained a few pounds?”
“Uh?”
Ning Chu had just climbed down, caught off guard. He looked down at his shorts and muttered discontentedly, “Yeah, I’ve definitely put on a bit of weight; these pants are a bit tight.”
Time to buy some new pajamas online.
He wiped his face with a damp towel, sat at the computer, and turned to ask, “What game are we playing? Fair warning, I don’t know how to play anything.”
“What do you know how to play?”
“Uh, practically nothing…”
After arriving in this world, Ning Chu had barely touched any games, but Zhang Shaoqing mistakenly thought he had never played games before college.
“I’ll find a suitable game for you.”
Ning Chu nodded and rested his chin on his hand, staring at the computer screen, but after two minutes, he couldn’t suppress his growing impatience, dragged the chair over, and plopped down beside Zhang Shaoqing.
Like a light breeze scented with gentle fragrance, Zhang Shaoqing didn’t even turn his head, just shifted to make a little space.
Glancing sideways at Ning Chu’s conflicted expression, he asked, “What do you want to say?”
“Um… Don’t get mad at what I say.”
“Okay.”
“Since Ling Ling isn’t interested in you, do you not have any other girl you like?” Ning Chu cautiously inquired, worried his words might touch a nerve. “Or what type of girl do you like?”
“Don’t know.”
“Wen Yang is really popular with girls. What’s your type compared to him…”
Ning Chu suddenly halted as he saw Zhang Shaoqing’s expression darken, clumsily trying to divert, “I like action games.”
Why did these two suddenly become at odds? They used to get along well!
Could it be that Zhang Shaoqing feels like the girl he likes is leftovers from Wen Yang because of Ling Ling?
After a little mental substitution, Ning Chu tentatively guessed Zhang Shaoqing’s current feelings.
“Ooh, I think this game is nice.”
“I’ll give it a try.”
Ning Chu quickly looked at the screen; it was a pink-themed game that looked nothing like an action game, more like a romance-adventure!
He hesitated, pressed start, confused yet curious about what to expect.
But in just ten minutes, his face flushed bright red, and the uncensored action scenes on the screen completely flustered him.
He was definitely a perv, or he wouldn’t write Small Royal Text, but it was his first time playing something this raunchy in front of someone else!
“T-This…”
He stiffly turned to Zhang Shaoqing, stuttering, unable to find the right words.
Seeing his flushed face nearly boiling over, Zhang Shaoqing chuckled softly, “This is the action game you wanted.”
“Not…”
What I wanted was Monster Hunter-type action-packed games, not this kind of hands-on experience!
“Why are you so easily embarrassed? Last time we watched a movie together was the same.”
Isn’t this normal at all!
Is this world so open about “sex”? The last movie had the quality of a box office hit, and this smutty game was at least AAA-level! Both times, he was caught off guard!
A pervy’s paradise.
Had he not been stuck in the plot, Ning Chu might even be quite pleased.
He wanted to play games and chat with Zhang Shaoqing to relieve stress and soothe the seemingly darkening Zhang Shaoqing, but now, being toyed with like this only left him feeling annoyed.
Fuming, he closed the game and shot a glance at the title before turning back to his desk.
“Want some milk tea?” But Zhang Shaoqing stubbornly leaned over, “Spend over twenty to get one free; you should order a cup too?”
“Get lost!”
He slouched against the wardrobe, pointing at his face, asking, “Do I look like the type to sulk for days or months after a girl rejects me? Do I really need your consolation?”
“No, I’m just afraid you’ll go crazy!”
Zhang Shaoqing was taken aback, looking thoroughly puzzled, “How am I crazy?”
Ning Chu rolled his eyes and ignored him.
What this guy did in the book was far more than just being psychologically messed up.
“Alright, stop messing around.”
What’s with that tone? Is he trying to play it sweet like a little girl?
Zhang Shaoqing straightforwardly handed over his phone, generously saying, “You choose, I’ll treat.”
“Really?”
“Do I need to be stingy with ten or so bucks for milk tea?”
Ning Chu’s eyes lit up, but he still wore an unhappy face, reluctantly taking the phone.
“If something happens to you next time, you should at least tell me,” he suggested quietly while browsing the milk tea options, “Holding it in isn’t good; letting it out might help you vent.”
“?”
However, Zhang Shaoqing’s expression was a bit peculiar.
“Why do you sound so coy? You’re like a caring big sister, huh?”
“Looks like you really need a trip to Thailand.”
