Chapter 10: Gone is the dreamer
"You used to be a dreamer," he said.
"You also used to be a guy who keeps his word. You used to be a brave guy who would fight against the entire world to keep his word. Everyone changes at some point in their lives. The same happened to us, life happened."
Despite her cool acts, her words were sharp enough to hurt one. They were hurting Andrew but he was too proud to vocalize anything.
Both of them were too proud to express their sorrow and open their heart to the other person.
Or maybe both of them were scared. One was scared to open her heart and end up being left out with a broken heart while the other was afraid of not being able to fulfill his promises.
Either way, both of them were insecure in their own way.
They decided not to talk for a few minutes. They looked at the hills. It was right behind their high school.
A forest that has lots of precious memories of them. As a student, they used to come here almost every day.
Someone spread the rumors of this jungle being haunted, the reason why the other students won't dare to come here.
But it didn't affect them at all. They would come here every day either way and spend time with each other.
In this place, they smiled, cried, and argued with each other.
But despite everything, it was a safe heaven for them. They can't remember having more peace of mind in any other place.
This place was full of natural resources and it was more than enough to calm them down.
Whenever they feel down or less energetic, they would come here. Both of them have the same habit but since they never met each other in the jungle after leaving school, they don't know about it.
The jungle was too big. It was easy for one to get lost here if they don't know the way out.
"My mind is clouded with thoughts. I want to clean it and for that, I want to take a walk around the jungle. Do you want to join me?" Andrew finally said, breaking the silence between them.
"I am suffering from something similar. Hence, I guess that a walk would be a good idea," she said, starting to walk on her own.
He started following her. They could hear the chirping of the birds. This place was too peaceful.
"I recently discovered a place. Would you like to go with me there?" He asked and she nodded her head. She was ready to do anything to clean her mind.
Nature has always been a source of peace to her. She would forever find comfort in nature. No matter how hurt she is or how messed up her mind is, a single walk in nature and she would feel recharged.
Nature had this invisible power over her. It would always restore her energy and enthusiasm.
She was sure that had nature not existed on this planet and she was left alone dealing with all of the things she has been through, she would have gone mad by now.
It was her comfort zone, her home.
Nature has always been like a comforting hug for her. She was in love with nature more than anything else in this entire world.
They didn't know when one second became a minute and it became more than an hour.
They continued to walk and walk until they reached a beautiful pond.
The fog was guarding the pond against the naked gaze of others. It was surrounded by wildflowers that were so beautiful that Veronica felt like they are called wildflowers because their beauty didn't know where to stop and continued to spread.
She so wanted to be like them. She wanted to be called a wild girl.
She thought it was such a beautiful compliment even though people don't mean anything good when using the term wild for something.
She wanted to be called a wild girl just so she could reply to them that wildflowers are called wildflowers because their beauty didn't know where to stop and continued to spread.
Similarly, she was called a wild girl for not limiting herself to a certain point.
She wanted to be wild and free. She wanted to experience all of the good things in this entire world. She wanted to go diving, climb mountains, see the world's most beautiful places, meet amazing people, and learn new things.
And she has successfully claimed that title. Everyone was now scared of her and she was living like a queen.
There was something really dreamy about this forest. It seems to be under a fairy's spell who has cast her magical spell all over the forest.
On the pond, they could see a few water lilies. The water was so clean that they could see their faces.
Veronica felt like she was glowing today. She always felt beautiful before. But she never thought she was this beautiful till today's date.
She was feeling like a fairy herself, an absolute goddess, a queen, and most importantly, a dream.
She looked at Andrew who was already looking at her with a soft smile and she felt like her heart was beating really fast. The teenager inside of her was doing all of these. She hated yet loved this feeling but she knew not to expect anything this time.
There was something about his gaze that made her breathing stop. It was so intense that she felt naked despite being fully clothed.
She felt like he could read her like an open book. His gaze made her feel like she was his favorite story to read over and over again.
She wanted to look into his eyes with the same intensity yet at the same time she wanted to look away and never look his way, afraid that she might melt and her soul might get mixed with this clean and pure water.
