Chapter 551: Chapter 544: Who is the real villain?_1
Jiang Que looked worriedly at Little Q's struggle against the two robots and took the opportunity to shoot him a meaningful glance.
Zheng Kai's expression still belonged to someone who had yet to recover from a shock, "Your robot isn't a combat robot; continuing to resist is futile."
Jiang Que's worry deepened, "But I won't just surrender hands down."
"Actually, you don't need to resist, because I will negotiate with humanity shortly," Zheng Kai said:
"As long as you agree to send ships to release all the No. 7 Bacterium and Orange Leaf Assassins, we will seek other intelligent beings to parasitize.
"The staff in this Space City are treasures of the Solar System State; I believe they will accept our terms.
"So, please let me turn off the device behind you, or I will throw you to the Orange Leaf Assassins hunting outside."
The fight between Little Q and the two armed robots ended, and just as Zheng Kai predicted, Little Q was captured by the two armed robots, and his power source was shut down.
Zheng Kai's tone did not become smug with the robots' victory; it was still as detached as ever, "How about it?"
Jiang Que noticed that Zheng Kai's expression became even more panicky.
Jiang Que wasn't too desperate. If she hadn't guessed wrong, the bacteria could still only control Zheng Kai's speech and were still unable to control his expressions.
That's why the scene before her was unfolding; Zheng Kai's tone was as cold as a killer, yet his expressions conveyed a different meaning.
Jiang Que said, "It's hard to imagine, a microbe actually possesses the intelligence to converse with humans!"
She continued, "Please answer a few questions for me, then I will let you turn off the device behind me."
Zheng Kai let out a muffled laugh, "Ha ha ha, haven't you realized? You no longer have any qualification to negotiate with me."
"That remains to be seen." Jiang Que laughed flawlessly, "Since you've parasitized Professor Zheng Kai, you must know about the detachment mechanism of this snowflake-shaped Space City, right?
"Although most of Galaxy III's functions have paralyzed, it can still be manually detached.
"I have placed a robot near the detachment mechanism; if my actions fail, the robot I set up will immediately detach Experimental Zone Ten.
"Then you will only have District 10 to threaten the Governing Council with, and they won't be so hesitant anymore, breaking your perfect plan."
Jiang Que remembered her father telling her: Deception is always humanity's most potent weapon! Although it has nothing to do with virtue, it is useful and should always be maintained because the universe is not a place that values virtues for the time being.
Some joy appeared on Zheng Kai's face; that must still be the emotion Zheng Kai wanted to express, but he remained silent for a long time—this reaction must be that of the bacteria inside him.
After a dozen seconds, Zheng Kai finally told one of the armed robots beside him, "Go check the manual detachment button and stand guard there."
Jiang Que made an inviting gesture, "Now please answer my questions. As long as I get the answers I want, I will immediately leave District 10 and not obstruct your plans."
Zheng Kai paused for a few seconds before saying, "The harsh environment on Mars has already endowed us with enough intelligence."
These words seemed unbelievable even to Zheng Kai himself.
Jiang Que guessed as well, "You're the No. 7 Bacterium, aren't you?"
"Yes! The torment humanity inflicted on us has 'reminded' us of many things," Zheng Kai said:
"Our memory system is different from humans; it's hereditary memory, sometimes dominant, sometimes recessive.
"The sense of crisis given to us by humans has triggered our evolution once more.
"Even behind iron walls, we gradually gained the ability to go through them and perceive humans.
"And through long observation, we understood the workings of the human body, orchestrating this escape."
Zheng Kai's tone turned colder, "Humanity should also be locked in a cage, to feel the fate of being repeatedly killed and researched.
"All humans should die!"
At that moment, the police robot sent out by Zheng Kai reported back, "I have reached the manual disengagement button, and have not found any suspicious people or robots."
Zheng Kai looked at Jiang Que.
Jiang Que sneered, "The police robots were slow to respond to my alarm, I knew they were controlled by you.
"Did you really think that robot would just sit there foolishly waiting to be discovered by the police robots?
"It wouldn't appear until the most critical moment."
Zheng Kai said, "Won't Humanity feel ashamed? How can you take pride in deceit?"
"Don't be naive," Jiang Que said. "The universe is just that unreasonable.
"You think Humanity owes you too much for treating you as lab rats, but doesn't the universe owe Humanity?
"It has always been the victor who is the king and the loser who is the villain, there is no such thing as morality, nor any moral high ground."
Jiang Que spoke solemnly, "Now answer me another question, how did you break free from the control of a sealed laboratory?"
In theory, the research on No. 7 Bacterium is conducted in a completely enclosed environment, preventing researchers from coming into contact with it.
For hundreds of years, there has never been an incident of a pathogen escaping from a laboratory.
Of course, the research on No. 7 Bacterium never mentioned that it possessed such high intelligence.
By this time, Jiang Que had already determined that the incident was a trickery between civilizations, not just a simple case of a pathogen escape.
Zheng Kai replied quickly this time, "By using the swapped-out laboratory equipment!
"We had tried before, even if we broke the lab equipment to escape from 'jail,' the lab's sterilizing environment made it hard for us to survive.
"So we changed our strategy and hid inside the laboratory equipment that was being replaced. Before it entered the incinerator, we escaped through the trash chute."
"A very detailed plan," Jiang Que remarked. "I still find it hard to imagine that a microorganism came up with this method."
Zheng Kai said, "That's because you don't understand the power of a Third Era Organism!"
Seeing that Zheng Kai did not continue, Jiang Que asked, "Are these concepts, like Third Era Organism, all from the memories of Zheng Kai?"
"Yes, I can access many of his memories, since they are stored as biological signals."
Jiang Que asked again, "You just mentioned Third Era Organism; do all organisms of this era have such abilities?"
"No, we are an exception!" Zheng Kai said. "Third Era Organisms come from the desolate, cold space.
"In the memories we awaken with, there are parts about being in space.
"It's cold and hungry out there, our ancestors could only survive by hibernating, attached to celestial bodies, waiting to enter a warm environment with food, where they would wake up.
"Then they used their last strength to complete division and reproduction, creating new individuals."
Jiang Que was taken aback, "Are you saying that the Earth's life came from outside? That it had cellular structures when it arrived on Earth?"
"No," Zheng Kai explained, "Third Era Organisms are Third Era Organisms, you are you.
"Some Third Era Organisms also evolve into intelligent life, but at most into multicellular structures.
"Whereas you are a product of constant chemical reactions."
Jiang Que said coldly, "Let me guess, when the native intelligent life on Earth was first thriving, weren't they the main prey for Third Era Organisms like you?"
After a long pause, Zheng Kai finally said, "Yes."
Jiang Que sneered, "Your moral high ground has collapsed under its own weight."
