Chapter 71, The Whisper of the God of Love (Part Eleven)
“Good afternoon, Eluka, have you eaten?”
“The roasted whole lamb from last time was very delicious.”
Mu En stepped on the writhing flesh and blood, looking down at Eluka.
All the killing intent was concealed, all the malice was discarded. Mu En smiled lightly, wiping the blood from his face, as if meeting an old acquaintance, his brows and eyes gentle.
The sunlight was warm, and he was backlit, shrouded in a sacred halo.
“Ah…”
Eluka stared blankly at Mu En, as if the smile at the corner of Mu En’s mouth soothed her anger. Her still fair and charming face also became calm.
“Mr. Mu En, are you finally going to accept my love?”
“I will not accept your love,” Mu En said.
“Why? Is it… my love not enough?”
Eluka widened her eyes in confusion:
“But I have already given my all—my blood, my flesh, my soul—aren’t these… enough?
I just want you to be with me forever, I just want you to accept my love.
But why, Master too, you too, you all refuse?”
“Of course, we all refuse.”
Mu En lowered his gaze, speaking softly:
“Because what you have is not love at all.”
“Not love…”
Eluka murmured softly, then her expression suddenly twisted into a grimace, as if she had received a tremendous insult:
“Nonsense, nonsense! This is love, this is love!
Look, everyone accepts my love, how happy they all are!”
Around Eluka, the hundreds of faces roared once more, countless “I love yous” merging into a sea of sound, swallowing everything.
The limbs shattered by the man were reborn again, like predatory sea anemones, approaching Mu En.
“Come on, Mr. Mu En, let us be together forever, my love, which is boundless!” Eluka smiled, fixating on Mu En’s face, her expression utterly infatuated.
Like a girl gazing at her beloved.
But how could Mu En ever be her beloved?
Her beloved should be someone else.
Love cannot possibly be boundless.
Only the one who loves can be called love.
“Indeed, trying to wake you with words is a naive thought that is impossible.” Mu En sighed softly.
He raised his eyes, his expression turning cold.
No longer paying attention to the danger behind him, for he knew that An, freed up, would definitely protect his back.
Thus, Mu En tightened his grip on the short knife and suddenly plunged it into both sides of Eluka’s head.
“Ah!”
Eluka’s face twisted in a scream, as if she was truly experiencing pain for the first time.
The monster’s massive body thrashed violently, the flesh beneath Mu En’s feet writhing madly, like waves whipped up by a storm!
It wanted to throw Mu En down.
“An!”
No need for too many words, the steel bridge suddenly pierced through the monster’s flesh, resting beneath Mu En’s feet.
With a foothold, Mu En took a deep breath and forcefully brought down his twin blades!
Huge wounds were carved out on both sides of Eluka’s head, where the crimson flesh intertwined and reformed, healing at a rate much faster than elsewhere.
As if… hiding something.
“It seems I’ve found the right spot.”
A smile involuntarily crept onto Mu En’s lips as he suddenly released the short knife and plunged both hands into that grotesque wound.
The monster’s blood corroded his arms, but he remained oblivious, his hands continuously groping through the flesh.
The monster roared, becoming increasingly frantic, but all its assaults were desperately blocked by An, who gritted her teeth.
At this point, she would never allow the young master to be harmed even slightly.
Finally, Mu En’s hands found a hard object.
“Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t! Stop! Please stop!”
The moment she touched that object, immense terror flashed in Eluka’s eyes.
She screamed for Mu En to stop, but with only her head remaining, what could she do?
She couldn’t even lift her beloved wand.
And the one who had always protected her had recently become just another face among those who only said, “I love you.”
Mu En’s smile grew increasingly radiant, while her eyes became ever sadder.
“Finally, I’ve caught you! Damn evil god!”
Mu En pulled her hand out from the flesh.
In her palm, she tightly held a statue.
It was a young girl, embracing a heart, as if she wanted to crush it fiercely into her chest.
Though it had been pulled from the flesh, the statue was not stained with a single drop of blood; instead, it emanated a holy glow that evoked an irresistible urge to kneel.
Indeed, this was the source of the corruption!
Next, all that was needed was to destroy it, and everything could come to an end.
“An!”
There was no need for Mu En to shout; An, who had been paying attention to this side all along, was already prepared.
The moment the statue was thrown into the air by Mu En, the steel jungle came crashing in like a mud truck racing down the road.
A massive amount of steel engulfed the statue, twisting and compressing it continuously, like a gigantic stamping machine grinding it down, until the sharp blades spun, cutting both the steel and the statue into fragments.
Under An’s control, the metal solidified once more, but the statue’s remnants could not be restored, scattered by the raucous autumn wind, leaving not a trace behind.
Truly, not even a scrap was left.
“It’s over.”
Seeing this scene, Mu En finally let out a long sigh of relief.
It was finally over.
But just as her spirit relaxed, the fatigue that had accumulated in her body surged in like a tidal wave.
She stumbled, nearly falling to the ground.
Fortunately, she managed to brace herself against the monster’s body.
“How disgusting.”
Mu En straightened up, shaking her hands in disgust, wanting to find a place to wipe off the monster’s filthy blood and slime, but suddenly realized—
She was still only wearing that beastskin skirt.
“It’s a miracle that An can hold back from making a comment.”
A hero clad in a tiger skin skirt… it really felt off no matter how she thought about it.
But it probably didn’t matter to anyone.
After all, the only living beings here… were herself and An.
Mu En glanced at the head of Eluka, whose eyes were tightly closed, and at those faces that no longer shouted “I love you,” giving a bitter smile. She turned and waved to An, who was jogging over in the distance, just about to say something—
Suddenly came to a halt.
Wait, something’s not right.
Since the medium through which the evil god projected its power has disappeared, why is this monster’s body still here?
This monster is clearly a grotesque creation stitched together by the power of the evil god. Logically, without the evil god’s power, shouldn’t it just disintegrate?
Could it be that…
“Don’t come over!”
Mu En shouted at An, then immediately turned back.
In the instant he turned, Mu En heard the sound of dripping water.
A drop of pure black liquid, unknown in origin, fell onto Eluka’s forehead.
There was no time to stop it.
Eluka opened her eyes.
Within her eyes, there was neither white nor pupil, only an abyss-like profound darkness.
