The Were in The Wolf

Chapter 2: Family Dinner...

The table was filled with a meat feast. Meat of different kinds. Some were cooked, some were not. At each end of a plate stood a gold jug of wine. The dinner was lavish. There was a little chatter on the table as the parties discussed what seemed important to them while awaiting the King.

Soon the King arrived, they all changed into their wolf form to welcome the King as they all howled in unison.

'Eeeewwuuu'

It wasn't difficult to spot the difference in them by two. The alpha wolves were known to be white in colour. The dinner was meant to host just white wolves but on the table was one black werewolf and a brown wolf. One was looked at with admiration, while the other was looked at with disgust. The Von Druelli family sneered at the queen. They wondered why a dirty Omega wolf would be chosen as the queen. The wife to the King's younger brother Titus bit her lower lip. She had always trained and worked hard when she was young as an alpha wolf to be married into the royal family. Only for the queen to pick up this nobody to assume her long awaited position. She was isolated for a very long time, because she entered her agony mood for a whole week. Her parent were so worried that they blamed the queen for their daughter's agony.

She ended up being married to the thing closest to marrying the King, the King's brother.

Queen Sabrina noticed the look of disgust thrown at her across the table. She felt unwanted yet again, as she had been feeling ever since she got wedded.

Soon the King settled in and they all changed to their human form.

"Let's eat" he said.

All settled down and consumed the dinner. Soon they started talking about the hunt. It was Titus that brought about the topic because he wanted his daughter Kalispel to join the hunt party or maybe lead it.

The hunt party was like an elite group in the pack that every youngster wanted to be in.

"Papa, let me lead the hunt party, I'm sure we would marvel you with our games, please Papa." Tahira said, as she had always wanted to be in the hunt party.

"You know Rodrigo had always been leading the hunt party, he wouldn't want anyone to interfere with his business.

"Just this once Papa, if I don't do it well then I'll never talk about hunting in my entire life." After giving him this persuasive look on the table. The King sure wanted to know how capable his daughter had become and so he agreed to it.

Just then, Titus decided to try his luck one more time.

"My King, Kalispel has been under going some training too, I'm quite sure she's capable of leading the hunting party."

"She can join the hunting party but won't lead" The king said.

Queen Sabrina sneered as she thought to herself, he wanted her daughter to even compete with Tahira for a spot? They sure knew how to look down on people. But, they always made this mistake of underestimating her dearest Tahira.

Soon dinner was over and everyone left the table. Tahira noticed a hooded man in Black that made eye signals to the King. The movement was quite suspicious. But since her Father wanted it to be discreet, then fine, she wasn't going to meddle.

Tahira's training grounds.....

She struck and struck and struck but her master kept on blocking her moves.

"Strike on Tahira, you can't stay weak forever, yes your defences are strong but your attack is too weak. You can't move a fibre with that strength of yours." Her Teacher said.

"Haaa Haa Haa!" Tahira struck harder but it was as if they were making no progress. She attacked again and again but fell to the ground out of annoyance and frustration. She had been training her whole life but her attack still seemed weak. She usually felt this surge of energy in her but to use it in a fight, it was as if she had this bottleneck. Like her energy was being blocked by something.

Her teacher watched her closely and felt sympathy for her. Tahira was a hard-working young lady, what she needed was a bit of patience.

"I'll be leading the hunt party tomorrow teacher, with my little to no progress in attacks, how am I supposed to safeguard the hunters if something goes wrong?" she asked feeling downcast.

"The hunt should not be a problem for you. Your grandmother was very great in hunt and I know you wouldn't fall short in that talent."

Kalispel's room...

She paced up and down the room. The King was quick to allow her daughter to lead the hunt. But didn't even think twice about not letting her lead it. Well, it was so stupid of her father to think that the King would choose her over his precious daughter. She really had to prove herself in this hunt. She was royalty too. Tahira just wouldn't let her shine. She was just good at everything and she was a different coloured werewolf which made people think she was special. That she was made for more. But she knew it was all sham. She was probably a brown werewolf because of Gene mutation. Nothing special and magical. She hated it when people looked to her in admiration. Tahira was just a normal she wolf. Even Ishaka wanted to marry her. Ishaka was indeed very strong and he deserved a strong werewolf beside him, but who said it could only be Tahira? All these thoughts ran through her mind. She knew her mother was the only person she could confined in.

She was just going to make sure she performed very well in the hunt. She believed it would make her look worthy in front of the hunt party. She wasn't going to loose to Tahira, at least not while her name was Kalispel. Everyone would be proud of her if she performed well at the hunt. She desperately wanted to show Tahira that she was the better one. Motivated by all these thoughts, she got ready and made haste to the training grounds. She approached and saw that her very loathed cousin was already there with her teacher. Jealousy seeped through her. She had never bothered about training so much, she only did so to remain fit and not get rusty; but at this moment seeing that Tahira had a personal trainer made her feel left behind.

She stormed out of the training grounds, she was going to meet her father, she needed her own personal trainer!
