The Village Disciples

Chapter 30: Vol. 1: Chp. 30 The Arcade {Pt. 2} (Filler)

Hello! This chapter may seem like filler and not branched with the main story, but making chapters like these can allow me to show more character traits, not just in fights or school.

These chapters can also contain information for the main story, but won't affect it too much. Chapters like these will have the word 'filler' in parenthesis in the title of the chapter, just inform you of that type of chapter.

But I hope you enjoy this chapter!

"So, now what?" asked a confused Naderamu,

With Akogare, Naderamu, and Tanjo freely roaming the arcade, coins in their hands, they need to determine which game to play first.

"Uhm, why not.... DANSU no HANGYAKU!?" Akogare suggested, pointing a finger at a game station with two metallic-like pads containing various colored squares, rails behind said pads, and a giant screen that takes up most of the user's peripheral vision directly in front of it.

"What is Dansu no Hangyaku?" Tanjo questioned, Naderamu also nodded to join in with her curiosity.

"Dansu no Hangyaku is a fun game where two people typically face off in a dance battle! You follow the screen's instructions on how to move your feet, ultimately making you dance! Some people even add their moves when playing." Akogare enthusiastically explains, only to turn back to Naderamu and Tanjo and see them walking away.

"Not for us." Tanjo declared, getting a humph in approval from Naderamu.

As they were walking away, they felt Akogare grab their shoulders and drag them to the previously spoken-of game. With Naderamu and Tanjo now standing on each one of the pads, they only grew anxious as time went on.

"I don't really... know how to dance, Akogare," Tanjo informed, making Akogare smile brightly and stick his right thumb up in encouragement.

"It's fine, the game guides you anyways!" Akogare encouragingly explained, "Besides, this could prove useful for better leg-work, as well as great exercise!" Akogare added on.

"Fine, let's hurry up before this place gets filled with kids that might go to Buranmajikku with us." Naderamu anxiously stated, wanting to get this done and over with.

"Alright, let's start!"

"Hello, dancers! To continue; please pick a song and start moving!" The game narrator excitingly announced.

Clicking through a list of songs by pressing down on the arrows laid on top of the metal platforms the duo was standing on, they searched for a song that was simple and enjoyable to listen to.

"Selected! Enjoy dancers!"

Naderamu and Tanjo both breathed in and out slowly, preparing themselves before the game counter went down, initiating the game at zero.

"Alright, dancers. The game will commence at the alert sound, so listen closely and pay attention to the game at all times! Enjoy!

Immediately after the game alert sound, the screen transitioned to a barrage of arrows of different colors, all flying downwards. The screen was also split in half with a thick, white line tracing down, separating the duo's arrows.

As the first set of arrows rained down from the top of the screen, Naderamu and Tanjo quickly started racing their feet to the designated arrow-shaped buttons on the platform below them, attempting to match the songs' pace and rhythm.

*Bum-Bum*

"Argh!" Naderamu grunted, the platform below her shining red ever so dimly, indicating the arrows she's missed. The same could be said for Tanjo, who's also missed an uncountable amount of arrows.

"C'mon guys, just thirty more seconds!" Akogare cheered out to his friends, not noticing the impending crowd surrounding them.

As the game progressed, the duos' footwork improved, gaining in pace and following the songs' arrows to near perfection. Both of their eyes are locked on and lasered onto the screen in front of them, running lapse to identify all of the newly formed arrows making themselves present in the game.

A timer in some white text then appeared in the middle of the screen, starting at ten seconds,(10:00) seemingly the start of a counter to render the game finished.

'C'mon! A little more!' Akogare mentally rooted, surprisingly containing his brimming excitement.

'Almost ther- wait,' Akogare stopped mid-thought, now, unfortunately, noticing the growing crowd that flooded the arcade, 'uh-oh'

The crowds' eyes seem to be glued to the timer in the game, as well as the nearly unnoticed score the duo had.

Naderamu: 1,438

Tanjo: 1,420

Shortly after the game-ending buzzer, the words 'Game Over!' in red text zoomed onto the screen, obviously indicating what the text means.

Naderamu and Tanjo can be seen panting aggressively, both of their legs being surprisingly sore, 'It's not like I don't exercise,' Naderamu thought, surprised at how much energy was used.

"Looks like I won, sucks to suck." Naderamu pridefully declared, relishing in her tiring victory,

"Yeah, yeah, whateve-"

"WOOO!"

An onlooker suddenly cheered, making the previously dancing duo freeze, then turn around and nearly pass out from seeing the humongous crowd. 'That must be like twenty people or more!' the duo collectively thought, anxiety once again rising into their cores.

A plethora of cheers and acknowledging congratulations were heard throughout the arcade. While this was happening, the old owner of the store was seen smiling gleefully behind the counter, happy beyond belief at how much positivity was being presented in the arcade.

'Have a blessed day, youngins'

Hey! I hope you enjoyed the second installment of 'The Arcade' filler set, I still think that it's a good way to see the characters act in other ways than seriously 24/7 and enjoy themselves in this chaotic world. Sad that Akogare never got a turn :(

Have a Good Day
