Till I Collapse

Chapter 25 : Till I Collapse

As Joy crashed onto the ground, blood trickling from her nose, she fought against the pain, determination etched onto her face. Despite her body's protests, she refused to surrender. "I will never give up... Not yet..." she whispered defiantly, her words a solemn vow as she lay there, her gaze fixed on Melpomene with a fierce frown, her spirit unbroken even in the face of defeat.

Melpomene stood panting heavily, each breath a struggle. "Huff... Huff... Give up now," he demanded, his voice a mix of exhaustion and frustration. "You brats know you can't defeat me," he continued, eyes flickering with a hint of desperation beneath his bravado, as if trying to convince himself as much as them.

"Never!" Joy screamed, her voice echoing with unyielding resolve. Summoning every ounce of strength, she pushed herself off the ground and charged at Melpomene, her fist raised high. "We will never give up!" *she roared, her eyes blazing with fierce determination and defiance, every step fueled by an unwavering will to fight.

With a surge of energy, Melpomene summoned his wind power once more, a fierce tempest swirling around him. As Joy closed in, he unleashed a powerful gust, the force of the wind roaring like a storm. Joy was swept off her feet, sent hurtling backward by the sheer intensity of his power. The air crackled with raw energy as Melpomene stood his ground, the embodiment of an unstoppable force.

Joy was pushed back by Melpomene's wind power, her body skidding across the ground. But she refused to be defeated. Digging deep into her reserves of strength, she surged forward once more, her fist aimed straight at Melpomene.

"You are really strong... but I won't give up!" she shouted, her voice trembling with raw emotion and determination, each word a testament to her unbreakable spirit.

Chris, feeling strength return to his limbs, pushed himself to his feet and rushed to Joy's side. Chris launched himself into the fray, ready to fight alongside Joy. The two stood united, their combined determination a powerful force against their formidable foe.

Exhausted and barely standing, Chris summoned every ounce of his remaining strength. His body ached, and his breaths were ragged, but his determination was unwavering.

Staggering towards Melpomene, he aimed a desperate punch at his stomach, his eyes filled with steely resolve. Despite his weakness, Chris's spirit burned brightly, a testament to his unwavering commitment to stand by Joy and fight until the very end.

Melpomene deftly dodged Chris's punch, but the distraction was all Joy needed. Seizing the opportunity, she delivered a powerful kick to Melpomene's stomach, the impact resonating like thunder. "You are going down!" she shouted, her voice echoing with unyielding fury and determination.

Melpomene instinctively tried to use Orve to shield his stomach, but his stamina was nearly depleted. "Huh?!" he gasped, a look of shock and desperation flashing across his face as he realized he couldn't muster the energy. The sudden vulnerability left him reeling, his confidence wavering in the face of Joy's relentless assault.

Joy's kick landed squarely on Melpomene's stomach, sending him stumbling backward. Seeing his chance, Chris sprang into action, channeling all his remaining strength. He drove his fist into Melpomene's face with fierce determination. "This is for Joy!" he roared, his voice filled with raw emotion. Fueled by their shared resolve, Chris struck again, each punch a testament to their unbreakable spirit and unyielding fight.

Melpomene struggled to rise, his body trembling with exhaustion. He tried to push himself up, but his limbs felt like lead, and he collapsed back to the ground. Defeated and drained, he looked up at Chris and Joy, his eyes reflecting a mixture of frustration and resignation. The weight of the battle had finally taken its toll, leaving him unable to continue the fight.

Chris and Joy exchanged a weary glance, their chests heaving with exertion. Despite the exhaustion that weighed heavily upon them, a sense of satisfaction washed over their tired forms.

They had fought with all their strength, overcoming every obstacle together. As they looked upon Melpomene, defeated at last, a mix of relief and triumph filled their hearts. The battle had been grueling, but in that moment, they knew their perseverance had paid off.

Melpomene's breaths came in ragged gasps, his body trembling with exhaustion. "Huff... Huff... My age..." he paused, the weight of his words heavy with resignation, "...really put a toll on me." Each syllable carried the weight of years of battles fought, a poignant reminder of the relentless march of time and the toll it took on even the mightiest of warriors.

Joy approached Melpomene, her gaze piercing through the haze of exhaustion. "You lost, old man," she declared, her voice firm with resolve. "I won't let you hurt anyone else anymore." Her words carried the weight of her determination, a solemn vow to protect those she cared about from further harm. With a cold expression, she stared down at him, her eyes reflecting a mix of triumph and defiance, unyielding in her stance against the threat he posed.

Melpomene's gaze locked onto Joy's, a myriad of emotions flickering in his eyes. He opened his mouth as if to speak, but no words came. Instead, he fell silent, the weight of defeat heavy upon him. But as his eyes shifted, he caught sight of Robert's men surrounding Chris and Joy, a sinister grin spreading across his face. "It seems that it's not over," he remarked, his voice tinged with a chilling mix of anticipation and malice.

As Chris and Joy exchanged a weary glance, their breaths still labored from their recent battle, they realized they were once again surrounded by Robert's menacing henchmen. With their strength depleted and their backs against the wall, a sense of dread crept over them. Despite their valiant efforts, it seemed the danger was far from over.
