Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Those in White Coats Aren't Gods, Perhaps They're Devils
Someone beside them laughed, "Miss Qin, aside from your face, what else do you have to be so willful? Why not make us happy instead? When Qin Kejing inherits the Qin family's assets, we might even support you in the dispute."
After that came a round of jeering from the group.
Qin Kejing is Qin Zhao's younger sister, the child their parents cherished the most.
Wu Guanrong stood up, reaching out to grab Qin Zhao.
Qin Zhao stepped forward, picking up a bottle of red wine from the table and smashed it over his head.
With a loud bang.
Everyone shut their mouths as the private room fell silent.
"You want to assault me?"
She curved her lips into a smile, yet her eyes were ice cold.
"Don't even look at what kind of trash you are."
"You! Bitch! You're asking for it!"
Wu Guanrong reacted, wiping the fresh blood and red wine from his face, and swung his hand to hit back.
Qin Zhao grabbed his hand in one swift motion, twisted his arm behind him, and slammed it onto the table.
In front of everyone's eyes, the coldly beautiful woman drove shards of glass into the man's hand. The private room was filled with screams, yet she smiled enchantingly.
"Ah!"
"Even without the Qin family, trash like you has no right to mess with me."
Qin Zhao, with hands covered in fresh blood, patted his face, "Got it?"
Of course, all that blood belonged to Wu Guanrong.
Qin Zhao turned and left, Wu Guanrong instantly collapsed on the floor.
Only then did the others come to their senses.
"Damn! That woman is ruthless."
Someone spat out in disgust and hurriedly helped the bloodied Wu Guanrong up, calling for an ambulance.
"Hey, Zhaozhao, why are you covered in so much blood?"
Her agent, Su Xiaotong, came over and was scared to death at the sight of the blood on Qin Zhao.
"Quick, quick! I'll take you to the hospital!"
"It's fine, it's not my blood."
Qin Zhao went to the restroom to wash the blood off her body.
Her phone rang; it was Chu Yan calling.
Qin Zhao frowned slightly and said to Su Xiaotong, "Please tell the director that I'll head back first."
After leaving the restroom, she picked up the phone.
"Weren't you supposed to come over to my place today?"
She had agreed with Chu Yan when she came back that afternoon to have him move in.
"Did you pack your things?"
"Hmm, come pick me up."
"..."
Dream on, you dog.
Qin Zhao directly sent her location to his WeChat and then ignored him, hailing a taxi home.
Once home, Qin Zhao took a bath and disposed of her blood-stained clothes.
The doorbell rang outside; Chu Yan had arrived.
She went to open the door, and Chu Yan saw her in a bathrobe with damp hair and her cold, beautiful, peach-blossom eyes seemingly veiled with mist. His gaze darkened.
"You will stay in the guest room, and you are not allowed in my bedroom."
Chu Yan didn't say a word and with a cold expression pulled his luggage inside.
As Qin Zhao was about to close the door, two policemen appeared outside.
"Qin Zhao, right? Someone filed a report that you intentionally assaulted them. Please come with us."
Qin Zhao narrowed her eyes, a hint of coldness flashing within, that piece of trash Wu Guanrong actually dared to call the police on her?
"Let me change my clothes."
Qin Zhao turned and headed to her bedroom, Chu Yan looked towards the two policemen, "Who filed the report?"
"The president of Guanghua Entertainment, Wu Guanrong. The injuries are severe, emergency services were called."
Before long, Qin Zhao came out and followed the police away.
She didn't speak to Chu Yan either, having no interest in explaining herself to him.
The apartment was left with only Chu Yan inside.
He stood by the balcony's edge, looking down at the entrance of the community, as Qin Zhao got into the police car.
Chu Yan dialed a number, "Find out why Wu Guanrong from Guanghua Entertainment got beaten up."
"Alright, Mr. Chu."
A few minutes later, he got a response.
"People in the same private room said Wu Guanrong took a fancy to Qin Zhao and probably wanted to manipulate her. Then Qin Zhao hit him with a wine bottle and broke his right hand.
Wu Guanrong has found a lawyer and is preparing to sue Qin Zhao."
The lingering light of the setting sun cast his silhouette longer, with an uncertainty flickering in his eyes. Covered with a layer of darkness, his handsome and cold features seemed eerily shadowed.
His slender, pale hand rested on the railing, fingertips idly tapping.
His indifferent voice carried with the wind, "Suppress this matter."
"Understood."
The other person waited for Chu Yan to hang up the phone, but he did not disconnect for a long time.
After a while, he asked, "Has he come out of emergency care?"
He was asking about Wu Guanrong.
"Almost, he's had a few stitches on his head, and despite the broken right hand, there's no life-threatening danger."
"I want to see him tonight."
After saying that, Chu Yan finally hung up the call.
The person on the other end was a bit puzzled about Chu Yan's intentions, but simply arranged for someone to watch Wu Guanrong at the hospital. When he came out of the emergency room, they took him away.
After Wu Guanrong was injured, the ambulance took him to the best hospital in the Imperial City.
The Imperial Capital First District Hospital.
That was where Chu Yan worked.
Or rather, it was his territory since he was the hospital's largest shareholder.
As for Qin Zhao, after she arrived at the police station, the officers casually asked a few questions. She said Wu Guanrong wanted to take advantage of her, the police believed her without asking for evidence, and then they released her.
She had never dealt with modern police before and thought this was normal, so she didn't mind.
But when she got home and didn't see Chu Yan, only to find his suitcase in the living room.
-
Deep into the night, the dim yellow light cast the tree shadows grotesquely, as if they were monsters lurking in the night.
The shadows on the ground added to the eeriness.
Caw, caw, caw, a few caws of crows came from the woods, along with the rustling sound of insects.
Someone was dragging a chain over, and at the end of the chain was a dog collar, tied to an injured person. The person seemed unsteady on their feet, stumbling with every step.
In front of an abandoned shipping container, there was a very clean glass cabinet.
"Get in!"
A few burly men shoved Wu Guanrong into the glass cabinet and secured the chain at the bottom.
The scene shifted, and under the shadowy trees, there was a wicker chair.
A cold and noble man sat there, legs crossed, speaking detachedly, "Fill it with water. He wanted to delve, didn't he? Let him delve to his heart's content."
The sound of rushing water filled the area as the glass cabinet was sealed shut and the water level inside slowly rose.
Wu Guanrong kept slapping the glass with his left hand, looking in terror at the distant man, his lips parted, faintly audible muffled pleas for help, begging for mercy.
The waterline gradually submerged him, and fresh blood from his wounds surged out, staining the water red.
The blood mingled with the light, reflecting in the depths of Chu Yan's eyes.
Those long, phoenix eyes took on a faint red hue, the mole under his eye pronounced. The cold man acquired an eerie, cryptic darkness, like a devil returning from hell.
He watched quietly as the glass cabinet slowly filled with water, and the dying man struggled.
Gradually, the struggle ceased.
It appeared as if the corpse had floated to the surface.
Then he spoke, as if bestowing mercy, "Take him to the hospital."
Wu Guanrong disappeared from the hospital, and the Wu family searched for hours without finding him.
Later, a nurse came by, saying he had run out on his own and accidentally fallen into the hospital's backyard pond, with severe water in his lungs, and was once again rushed to emergency care.
