Chapter 7: Leisurely Fun
Deidara let out a sigh of relief as he looked at the boy lying on the ground, clutching his stomach. He couldn't help but lament internally that he still hadn't mastered his strength.
Originally, Deidara hadn't intended to hit so hard, but the earlier situation had made him a bit anxious.
Using his keen eyesight, he narrowly avoided a straight punch from his opponent and had just prepared to strike from behind to finish him off for his first victory. However, to his surprise, the boy seemed to anticipate this and lunged forward, executing a scissor kick aimed directly at Deidara's chest.
Hearing the whooshing sound of the kick, Deidara had no doubt that it would hurt if it connected. So, he employed the technique he had just learned, concentrating chakra in his feet and leaping upwards, positioning himself directly above the boy, ready to deliver a punch.
Then came the moment that had just transpired, all happening in the blink of an eye. Kurotsuchi, watching from a distance, gasped when she saw Deidara almost get kicked, ready to call it off. But when she saw him counterattack, she smiled instead.
"Next!" Deidara said with an air of superiority, his demeanor aloof as if these kids were nothing more than a mere nuisance that he could easily crush in an instant.
Before his bravado could influence the others, it had already provoked the boy on the ground.
Struggling to get up and rubbing his stomach, the boy declared, "I just let my guard down! This time I lost; I admit it. But next time, I will definitely defeat you!"
Deidara decided to fully embrace the role he was playing, so he replied in a taunting manner, "Oh."
Sure enough, the boy exploded with frustration, shouting, "Ahhh! Just you wait! I, Magu, will definitely beat you next time!" After waving his hand, he shouted, "Let's go!"
With that, the group quickly dispersed. Kurotsuchi's presence then became visible, and Deidara wondered why she had come along.
Understanding his confusion, Kurotsuchi explained the situation. Deidara was understanding but couldn't fathom the point of connection between a five-year-old girl and a twenty-something man.
If such a thing were the case on Earth, it would typically result in severe consequences.
Even though this was the world of Naruto and he was just a six-year-old child, Deidara had never thought of Kurotsuchi in such a manner.
Regarding the slightly anticlimactic confrontation, Kurotsuchi explained why it had unfolded that way, and Deidara understood. The boy named Magu was the leader of their group, which was why he was the first to challenge Deidara.
Having dealt with a bunch of kids, it was time to resume his earlier plans, repaying Kurotsuchi for her kindness from before, as well as addressing the favor he owed for his prior meals.
Kurotsuchi hesitated, wondering if this might create a rift between her and Deidara, since he was her only friend.
Before she could make a decision, Deidara took her hand and led her toward the local ramen shop, "Noodle Paradise." Deidara preferred straightforwardness, finding excessive deliberation a bit tiresome.
Thus, a cheerful blond boy pulled along a blushing black-haired girl into the noodle shop.
Deidara tried various ramen dishes and, of course, couldn't resist ordering some deep-fried eggs as well. Kurotsuchi chose the same ramen as him, but at Deidara's request, she piled on extra toppings.
As they continued to eat, Kurotsuchi transferred some of her noodles to Deidara's bowl. He accepted them without hesitation, continuing to enjoy his meal.
Following the cheerful banter from the middle-aged noodle vendor, Deidara and Kurotsuchi left the shop.
They still had plenty of time, and since they both wanted to relax, they didn't mention returning home and instead made their way back to the spot where they had first met.
"Is it okay if I call you 'sister'?" Deidara asked Kurotsuchi.
She nodded in agreement, looking at him expectantly.
"Sister, it feels a bit like we are wasting time just sitting here," Deidara remarked. "How about we practice the Body Flicker Technique? I've heard practice can enhance your abilities!"
Deidara remembered an old saying from Earth: "When a man and a woman work together, they don't tire as easily." Upon hearing Deidara's reasoning, Kurotsuchi became embarrassed, her face flushing as she playfully hit him a few times.
'I'm going to pound your chest!' The thought flashed through Deidara's mind, causing him to shiver. He shook his head, dismissing the thought.
Since Kurotsuchi hadn't yet mastered the Body Flicker Technique, Deidara first demonstrated the Substitution Technique and the Transformation Technique. Then he began teaching Kurotsuchi the Body Flicker Technique step by step.
He shared everything—hand seals, the feeling of chakra, and his personal experiences—without holding anything back. In this world, personal experiences and ninjutsu were kept highly confidential and valuable. Typically, without a special relationship, others wouldn't share their knowledge.
But Deidara felt that Kurotsuchi was now the only person he could confide in—the only one he could truly trust.
Kurotsuchi was bright, and her struggles had merely stemmed from impatience, wanting to get out of the house. Deidara explained everything to her in detail, and she listened intently; before long, she successfully performed the technique.
Both of them still had very limited chakra, and after a few basic ninjutsu attempts, they found themselves nearly drained. Thus, they decided to sit down, remove their shoes, and dangle their feet in the river, splashing around.
Although it was autumn, this temperature was merely a slight discomfort for them, as they were no longer ordinary people.
Deidara glanced over at Kurotsuchi and formed the seals again. With a 'bang,' two Kurotsuchis appeared by the riverbank. The real Kurotsuchi made a disdainful pout, and then with another 'bang,' there was another Kurotsuchi and Deidara by the river.
They exchanged knowing glances and then simultaneously dispelled the Transformation Technique, bursting into laughter.
Deidara soon calmed down, looking around and feeling a wave of emotion wash over him. He couldn't believe he was truly in this world, having learned to harness chakra and utilize ninjutsu.
He wasn't sure if this world was merely a manga universe, but right now, all he could feel was that he was living in this world, seamlessly integrating into it.
Noticing Deidara's pensive mood, Kurotsuchi chose to remain quiet, silently accompanying him as they watched the sunset slowly descend in the sky.
To be continued…
