Chapter 15: The Strategy of Capturing the Childhood Sweetheart CEO 14
"How is it? Do you like the taste?" Lucas, knowing Elora's love for fine cuisine, had heard that the dishes here were exquisite and brought her here without hesitation.
"Mm, it's fine," Elora replied, though the food was to her liking, she could only take small bites, feeling quite restrained. If only Lucas weren't here, she thought wistfully, then I could eat freely without care.
Lucas, observing the blissful expression on Elora's face, felt a deep sense of fulfillment.
"Do you remember what we talked about last night?" Lucas asked directly, his gaze fixed intently on her.
"What are you talking about?" Elora, always so busy, couldn't recall the specifics of their conversation.
"Hmm?" Lucas narrowed his eyes dangerously.
"Hehe... I think I remember now. Dating!" Elora, feeling nervous under Lucas's gaze, swallowed audibly, the memory flooding back in an instant.
Lucas's eyes were drawn to her rosy lips, and without thinking, he gently brushed his lips against hers. "What's wrong? Do I have something on my face?" Elora looked at him with confusion.
"You do!" Before Elora could react, Lucas closed the distance between them and kissed her. He only lightly brushed his tongue over her lips, never deepening the kiss, and pulled away before she could respond.
"The taste is quite nice," he said with a casual smacking of his lips.
Was this just dinner? Did this scoundrel take advantage of me? This is flirting, it must be!
Elora shot him an indignant glare, while Lucas, utterly charmed by her playful displeasure, couldn't help but smile.
...
"Wait… wait a minute." A girlish voice called out, and Elora quickly pressed the elevator button.
A girl dressed in a simple office outfit rushed in. "Phew... phew..." She panted, resting her hand on her chest as she shot Elora a grateful look. "Thank you so much, I almost missed the elevator."
The girl's cheeks were flushed, and two adorable dimples appeared when she smiled. Elora immediately took a liking to her, and her own smile grew more sincere.
Serena, lost in admiration, couldn't help but gaze at the beautiful woman before her. She was truly stunning, with eyes that curved sweetly when she smiled.
"It's nothing, just a small favor," Elora replied casually, "By the way, what's your name?"
"I'm Serena. I'll be working here from now on," the girl said, clearly fond of Elora.
"Nice to meet you, Serena. I'm Elora," she replied warmly, her smile genuine.
Serena, encouraged by Elora's friendly demeanor, began chatting animatedly. "You have no idea—if I had missed the elevator, I'd have been late, and then... blah blah blah..."
Though Serena was quite talkative, Elora was more than happy to listen.
...
"Lora, you're here," Lucas greeted, his gaze softening as he looked at her.
"Mm, by the way, do you know Serena?" Elora suddenly remembered the girl who had been talking non-stop in the elevator, and she couldn't help but smile.
"Who?" Lucas's face darkened slightly, jealousy creeping into his tone as he noticed the sweetness of her smile.
"She's a lovely person I met today."
"Is she a man or a woman?"
"A woman. She works at your company!"
"Oh, really?" Lucas breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness she's a woman. He wasn't sure why, but the thought of her mentioning a man's name had made him uneasy.
"By the way, I came to see you because I have something to discuss." Elora suddenly remembered the business at hand. "The construction for the West City property starts today, and as usual, we need to visit the site. So, I came to pick you up."
"You could have just called me, no need to come in person."
"Only because you're my fiancé, otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered." Elora shot him a look, her expression one of playful reproach.
"Alright, alright, I take it back!" Lucas immediately raised his hands in surrender. "Let's go, we'll be late if we don't hurry." He naturally took her hand in his, and they walked out side by side.
