The Devil’s Destiny

Chapter 5: An Unexpected Interruption

Joseph and Destiny stood there, locked in each other's gaze, the world around them melting away.

Time seemed to stand still as they stared at each other, the tension between them palpable.

Just as it seemed like they would stand there forever, Destiny's phone rang, shattering the spell. She apologized and answered the call.

"Destiny, I need you right now in the office," a voice said urgently on the other end.

Destiny's expression changed from relaxed to tense in an instant. "I'm on my way," she said, already starting to hurry away.

Joseph quickly realized that the caller was Destiny's boss, and she was needed urgently. He also noticed that Destiny had dropped a sheaf of papers in her haste.

Without hesitation, Joseph bent down to pick up the papers. Destiny rushed back to help him, and together they gathered the scattered documents.

As they worked together, Joseph couldn't help but notice the way Destiny's hair fell in soft waves down her back, or the way her eyes sparkled with gratitude.

Once they had gathered all the papers, Joseph handed them to Destiny. "Here you go," he said, smiling.

Destiny smiled back, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "Thank you," she said. "We might meet again, if wishes come true."

Joseph smiled, feeling a sense of connection with Destiny that he couldn't explain. "I'd like that," he said.

With that, Destiny hurried away, leaving Joseph to watch her go. He couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment that their encounter had been cut short.

As he walked to his car, Joseph couldn't shake the feeling that he had just met someone special.

He thought about Destiny's bright smile and her sparkling eyes, and he couldn't help but wonder if he would ever see her again.

Joseph got into his car and started the engine, but his mind was still on Destiny. He thought about the way she had laughed, the way she had smiled, and the way she had made him feel.

As he drove away, Joseph couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. He had no idea what the future held, but he knew that he wanted to see Destiny again.

The drive home was a blur, Joseph's mind consumed by thoughts of Destiny. He wondered what she did for a living, what her interests were, and what she liked to do for fun.

As he pulled into his garage, Joseph realized that he had been driving on autopilot. He had been so caught up in thoughts of Destiny that he hadn't even noticed the road.

Joseph turned off the engine and sat in the silence, his mind still racing with thoughts of Destiny. He knew that he had to see her again, and he was determined to make it happen.
