The Curse of Time (Harry Potter Fanfic)

Chapter 90: Kill the Basilisk

Pov General,

Evelyn landed on bones that once belonged to small rodents.

She realized she was not yet in the secret room but likely in an antechamber.

Moving forward cautiously, she prepared to close her eyes at the slightest suspicious movement.

She soon came across what appeared to be the basilisk's shed skin.

Estimating its length, she was astonished by the sheer size and surprised that the castle walls were large enough to let the monster roam freely.

Finally, she lifted her gaze and proceeded until she reached the actual entrance to the Chamber of Secrets.

"Open."

Just as she had done at the washbasin in the girls' bathroom, she commanded the mechanism to unlock in Parseltongue.

The door opened, revealing the true Chamber of Secrets.

Once inside, Evelyn made a peculiar gesture — she clapped her hands together, the sound echoing throughout the vast room.

She moved as if nothing had happened, though there was a difference — the box she had been carrying had disappeared from her arms.

Her hand rested on the handle of her katana, ready for the monster to appear at any moment.

Finally, Ginny's body came into view, pale and lying on the ground.

Evelyn did not rush; she knew the heir was likely watching her — she could feel his gaze.

Once she reached Ginny, she knelt to check for a pulse.

"Still alive, but too weak to be conscious."

"It's normal. After all, she will give her life for me."

Upon hearing a voice, Evelyn immediately took a defensive stance and turned toward the source of the sound.

"Heir of Slytherin, I presume."

She remained calm, carefully analyzing his every move, noting that he appeared more phantom than living being.

"Indeed. Even if I am not the one responsible for the victims this year, it is that little girl at your feet whom you should thank."

"She is not guilty of anything. I know she had been eager to attend school, and as time passed, she only felt worse. She would never have committed these attacks consciously. The only explanation I see is that you forced her to do it."

A small smirk appeared on his lips.

"Clearly, I can't hide anything from the one hailed as the most intelligent person of this era."

"Keep your compliments to yourself. I don't care about your motives or your past. The only thing I know is that you attacked someone you shouldn't have."

The hostility in her voice made it clear she had no interest in further conversation.

"Anyway, you don't need to tell the whole story. Seeing this journal, I suppose it was the key that allowed you to force Ginny to reopen the Chamber of Secrets."

"Indeed, the poor person who got beaten by a person you despise and therefore performed a ritual so that you could not come after her son. Learning that the great Voldy was beaten by a newborn must have given you a huge blow to your pride."

Upon hearing this, she realized the journal was a Horcrux.

"You've given me enough information, Tom Marvolo Riddle."

His face twisted in anger.

"Don't call me by the name of that slimy bastard who abandoned my mother! I am Voldemort!"

"Indeed. The same 'great' Voldemort who was defeated by someone you despise and was forced to perform a ritual just to avoid being bested by a mere child. Learning that the mighty Dark Lord was beaten by a newborn must have been quite the blow to your pride."

He took a breath to regain his composure.

"I admit, I was surprised you opened the Chamber of Secrets, but no matter what you say, you can do nothing against Salazar's legacy."

"You mean the same legacy likely scarred by a Muggle-born? I'm sure you were terrified that the monster might be killed by my girlfriend."

He spoke with a loud voice in Parseltongue to call the creature. Even though Evelyn did not understand what she heard, she knew the monster was coming.

She closed her eyes, focusing on her surroundings to try to locate the creature.

Finally, she heard a sound indicating that it was close to her. It was at that moment that she turned and shouted,

"Incendio! Sonorus!"

The two spells shot toward the cardboard box, and as soon as they struck it, the sound of a rooster echoed throughout the room.

The sound was so loud that Evelyn covered her ears.

The creature, looking frantic, struck the pillar of the room before finally collapsing, dead.
