The Adeventures of DeadPool (and Young Justice)

Chapter 56: shitty twist~

Aqualad and Artemis exchanged a glance, clearly sizing him up. Aqualad took a step forward, readying his water-bearers. "wade, you have.... changed"

"yeah yeah let's skip that part already~?" Wade twirled his knife with his left hand, his right twitching with excitement.

Wade steadied himself, his grin widening as Artemis prepared an arrow.

'Time to be a badass~'

("do it!...catch it catch it catch it !!!")

Artemis launched the arrow, and Wade extended his hand, catching it mid-flight with a grin. "You really think you can defeat a god with—"

*Booom*

The explosion hurled him backward, his body ragdolling through the air, caught totally off-guard.

He crashed down, smoke and ash curling from his scorched hand—or what remained of it. Wade struggled to his knees, his head spinning, yet he let out a laugh, wilder now, almost unhinged. "Oh, nice try, ! Hawkeye would be proud!"

Then, through the smoke, Aqualad stepped forward, "Well done Artemis!"

a shadowed figure emerged behind Wade, tall and foreboding. Owlman.

The grim figure walked with an unyielding calm, his gaze dark and unreadable, as if he had been watching the whole fight unfold from afar. Aqualad froze, taken aback by the sheer presence of this newcomer.

Without turning to face Aqualad, Owlman spoke in a voice that was low, precise, and devoid of any emotion. "You have two choices, Aqualad." He gestured coolly to Artemis, unconscious with a ticking device attached to her waist. "You may either save her or fight me. Choose."

The weight of Owlman's words lingered, chilling the air. Aqualad's eyes darted between the ruthless figure and Artemis, lying helpless and vulnerable, the device's timer counting down relentlessly.

There was no warmth, no mercy in Owlman's tone. He was as implacable as a force of nature, and his intent was clear. With barely a pause, he watched Aqualad, already knowing his answer.

Reluctantly, with a final glare, Aqualad made his decision, sprinting toward Artemis, his mind racing with strategies to disarm the device.

Owlman observed, unblinking, until Aqualad was gone from sight with the team to the ship. Then, with a calculated silence, he turned back to Wade who was laughing"Thanks honey~"

Owlman leaned in, his face expressionless, then seized Wade's remaining arm, gripping him firmly. Without a hint of hesitation, he pulled Wade into the shadows with a smooth, fluid motion.

Aqualad was left with the echo of Owlman's words, his cold, commanding presence imprinted in the silence.

Once Aqualad was out of sight, Owlman shifted his attention fully to Wade, who was still grinning despite his injuries. "thanks for the save, honey~," Wade chuckled, thinking cheshire went back for him

Owlman merely looked down at him, emotionless. Then, with brutal efficiency, he reached out, grasped Wade by the neck, and with a single, precise motion, sliced clean through.

Wade's eyes widened as he felt the cold steel and watched, dazed, as his head left his body, toppling to the ground. His world went black.

The chains around Wade's wrists clanged with each strained movement, but he didn't scream. No, not Wade. He had long since lost the capacity to scream—now it was only twisted chuckles, a dark mockery of the pain. The room reeked of sweat, blood, and rot, the faint sound of skittering rats echoing through the space. They were coming for him, not with the creeping caution of prey, but with the confidence of hungry scavengers that knew they'd get their meal. Wade's vision blurred, sweat dripping down his face as sharp teeth nipped at his ears, his exposed skin. His left hand twitched, fingers stiff with the sensation of rat claws burrowing into his brain. The little bastards—they were gnawing at his skull, crawling into his mind like unwanted tenants. Tick, tick, tick, each bite louder than the last. But Wade? Wade just grinned through the madness.

"You guys think you can mess with me? I'm the mercenary who's still alive after all the garbage this world has thrown at me. This? This is nothing."

And then the dogs came.

The pack of mangy, feral creatures were salivating, their teeth bared as they circled him, their growls low, hungry.

They started biting his foot..then moved on to his thighs...

"Oh no...all but that...no..not my fucking BAAAALLS~"

Wade's eyes flickered open, his body still aching from the torment. His mind was a warzone, trying to piece together fragments of pain and the sharp sting of memory.

Wade chuckled, his voice hoarse but still carrying that unmistakable edge of madness. "Well, well, look who's here to join the party. What's it been now, a few hours of my time? A few days for you, maybe? Feels like you've been gone forever."

Owlman stood, unmoving, the air around him cold, as if even the darkness feared his presence. He didn't answer right away, just staring at Wade with those cold, unblinking eyes. The silence stretched.

"Cat got your tongue?" Wade sneered. "Or are you just here to finish me off? Not that it would work~"

He shifted his weight, testing his bound limbs, but only pain responded. "Still... you had to drag me through all that, huh? Rats eating my brain. Dogs gnawing on my junk. Yeah, that's what passes for fun in your world? What's the matter, Owlman? You don't like me talking? Or are you too busy with your little toys, making sure everything's just so?"

Owlman's eyes narrowed, his voice as cold as the stone around them. "You think you're the first to suffer at my hands?" He stepped closer, his figure looming over Wade. "What you had was just a taste. You see.... I don't want you dead, deadpool."

Wade's grin widened, though there was something darker in his eyes now. "Oh? You want me alive, huh? What, planning to use me as some sort of test subject? You know, if you wanted to experiment on someone, you could've just asked. I would've signed up for that... for the right price." He chuckled low, then winced. "Well, maybe not after that~"

Wade's eyes flicked over to something in Owlman's hand, something that caught the dim light in a way that made him tilt his head.

He craned his neck to get a better look, eyes scanning the picture.

"Is this your family?" Wade asked, voice mocking yet almost wistful, a touch of dark humor under the surface. "Must've been a real happy family, huh? What'd they do, die in some tragic accident? Classic story, huh?"

Owlman's grip tightened on the photo, but he didn't say anything, just holding it in front of Wade as if it were an answer in itself. Wade could see the flicker of pain behind the mask, but he wasn't one to let anything slip. Not yet.

"So you don't remember... even that?" Owlman's words were sharp, a quiet cutting edge to them.

Wade's eyes narrowed, his grin faltering for just a moment as the pieces slowly started to fall into place. Something about this kid felt too familiar, but it took a moment for Wade to place it.

"Hold on... for a sec," Wade murmured, his voice dropping to something more contemplative. "So you are the kid... the one whose parents I killed. The one I... oh, damn.

Wade's laughter came in a hoarse, jagged burst, but it wasn't full of humor this time. More like a bitter realization. He didn't wait for Owlman to respond, though—Wade already had the pieces, already saw the shape of the tragedy behind the twisted face before him.

"You were modified, weren't you?" Wade's tone was surprisingly soft, the words coming out slow as he pieced it all together. "By the Court of Owls, right? Made to grow faster, stronger. Some kind of special methods. But the trauma..." He tilted his head slightly, his grin starting to fade as something dark flickered in his eyes. "The trauma didn't leave, did it? That day... the horror of it all. Must've just eaten you alive, huh?"

Wade stared, his eyes widening as the face beneath the mask wasn't quite a face at all. It was just... flesh. Bare, exposed, raw bone and tissue where a face should have been. No eyes, no mouth, no features—

Wade's breath caught in his throat. "What... the hell?" he whispered, unable to stop himself from recoiling. But then, it clicked. The words came to him in a sickening rush.

"No..." Wade whispered, almost to himself, as the truth hit him with a staggering force."You aren't really the kid,are you?

Owlman didn't speak. He just stood there, the silence between them suffocating as the realization set in. His head was lowered, his eyes—if they could be called eyes—locked onto Wade with an intensity that spoke volumes.
