Chapter 31 - The Dormitory Supervisor's Corpse
Seeing the white-clothed store clerk suddenly turn into a black-clothed one, He Gu’s expression changed. Without giving it a second thought, he grabbed Wang Tao and ran.
However, after running only a couple of steps, He Gu felt something was off. Wang Tao didn’t respond at all, appearing just like a walking corpse.
He Gu glanced back to find Wang Tao had closed his eyes, letting He Gu drag him along.
Wang Tao had actually sleepwalked while standing up!
At the same time, the black-clothed store clerk came out from the store, a sinister smile on his face, running towards He Gu.
Just then, sleepwalking Wang Tao suddenly grabbed He Gu’s wrist: “Let’s go, I’ll take you for barbecue.”
A chill ran down He Gu’s spine, and a sense of impending doom enveloped him.
Without thinking, He Gu summoned all his strength to kick Wang Tao in the waist, sending him sprawling on the ground, and freeing himself from Wang Tao’s grip.
Then, without looking back, He Gu sprinted towards the dormitory.
As he began to run, a series of hurried footsteps sounded behind him.
Someone was catching up!
The footsteps were right behind He Gu!
Not daring to look back to see if it was the black-clothed clerk or Wang Tao chasing him, He Gu held his breath and ran for his life.
The footsteps were relentless, almost brushing against He Gu’s back.
He Gu felt that the slightest slowdown would result in being caught!
Soon, He Gu ran into the small grove.
After crossing this grove, he would see the dormitory building!
Not daring to let his guard down, He Gu sprinted madly.
At that moment, He Gu suddenly heard a shrill cat’s meow.
“Meow!”
As the meow sounded, He Gu saw a black shadow pounce towards him.
He didn’t have time to react and subconsciously turned his head to dodge.
The black shadow flashed past. He Gu screamed as his face burned, a warm liquid flowing down his cheek.
Only then did He Gu realize that a black cat had pounced and scratched his face.
The black cat was entirely black, its eyes a bizarre orange, a part of its left ear missing, giving it a sinister look.
The black cat, after scratching He Gu, swiftly ran ahead of him, fluffed up its fur and hissed at He Gu, then turned and disappeared into the grove.
He Gu felt a burning pain on his face. He wiped it with his hand, and it was covered in fresh blood.
And the footsteps from behind were still relentlessly pursuing!
He Gu dared not stop, enduring the pain, he continued to run madly.
Soon, He Gu finally dashed out of the small grove, with the dormitory building in sight.
Just as He Gu ran out of the grove, the footsteps behind him disappeared.
He ran all the way to the entrance of the dormitory building before he stopped, panting heavily. He looked back and saw no one.
This was definitely the most exhaustive and tense run of He Gu’s life. He was panting heavily, feeling as if all the strength had been sapped from his body. He stood there, knees buckling, gasping for breath.
After a while, He Gu suddenly heard a series of hurried footsteps again.
Could it be chasing him again!?
He Gu’s heart tightened. He looked up to see several figures in white hazmat suits running this way.
Seeing this, He Gu was taken aback.
He Gu instinctively wanted to run, but quickly realized these people weren’t coming for him.
They rushed straight to the dormitory entrance, surrounding the Dormitory Supervisor.
Only then did He Gu notice that the Dormitory Supervisor seemed to be maintaining the same posture from the morning, sleeping soundly in his chair.
Following this, He Gu saw two individuals dressed in white hazmat suits lift the Dormitory Supervisor from his chair.
Another one began to undress the outer jacket of the Dormitory Supervisor’s uniform.
The Dormitory Supervisor was still unconscious, allowing these individuals to manipulate him at will.
Witnessing this scene, a chill ran through He Gu’s heart, giving rise to an ominous premonition.
As expected, the next moment, the outer jacket of the Dormitory Supervisor was stripped off.
Simultaneously, a plume of black smoke emerged from the Dormitory Supervisor’s body.
As the black smoke dissipated, the Dormitory Supervisor’s entire person became emaciated, his face, hands, neck, and everywhere skin was visible, were covered with black lines.
The Dormitory Supervisor’s mouth was wide open, his eyes bulging in what seemed to be immense pain.
This expression was now fixed; the Dormitory Supervisor’s body had become rigid.
Clearly, the Dormitory Supervisor was dead.
The individuals in white hazmat suits hoisted the Dormitory Supervisor’s body onto a stretcher and hurriedly loaded him into a black van parked nearby.
Watching this scene, He Gu felt a mix of emotions and a certain oppressive feeling in his heart.
At this moment, He Gu suddenly saw one of the individuals in white protective suits exclaim and point at him, seemingly shouting something.
Immediately, all the individuals in protective suits turned their heads to look at He Gu.
The next moment, they turned around and charged at He Gu.
He Gu’s heart tightened. Not thinking twice, he turned and ran into the dormitory building, sprinting up the stairs.
Before long, He Gu had rushed back to his room, locking the door behind him, leaning against it, and panting heavily.
Soon, He Gu heard a rapid succession of footsteps in the corridor outside. Those people were actually catching up!
However, they didn’t seem to see which room He Gu entered. The noisy footsteps outside faded and disappeared after a while.
Only at this point did He Gu let out a long sigh of relief. He realized that his upper body was soaked in sweat.
After two intense runs, He Gu felt completely drained of energy. He slid down against the door and sat on the floor.
At this time, He Gu noticed that Xiao Ying was sitting on the edge of the bed, holding a food box and quietly watching him.
Xiao Ying’s skin was frighteningly pale, devoid of all color.
Her hair was messy and randomly strewn, half of her face was obscured by the fallen hair.
Only half of Xiao Ying’s face was visible, and He Gu could only see one of her eyes. He felt that her gaze… was strange.
“What’s wrong?” Xiao Ying’s voice was somewhat cold.
He Gu waved his hand, “Nothing, just went for a run.”
Xiao Ying glanced at He Gu, hesitated, then said, “Your face…”
Only then did He Gu remember that his face had been scratched by the Black Cat, he had no idea how bad the wound was.
With this in mind, He Gu pulled out his phone and switched on the front camera to take a look.
Upon looking, He Gu froze.
On the phone screen, He Gu saw his face was dark and sallow, his cheeks and eye sockets appeared sunken, his lips slightly blue, he looked like a dead man.
Most importantly, on He Gu’s right cheek were three scratches nearly 10 centimeters long.
The wounds were deep, with flesh turned inside out.
Although the bleeding had stopped by now, half of He Gu’s face was swollen, and the wound looked as if it had festered. It looked incredibly horrifying…
