Chapter 4: Ask & Answer
Rachel moved forward, her footfalls silent. Cramnal walked beside her. As they walked two forms pulled away from Cramnal. Their skin was pale and had an opalescent sheen, other than that they looked exactly like Cramnal. They looked to the ceiling, doors formed and they glided up and through the doors to the upper floors.
"Marce! Come out. Let's talk"
The floor was seemingly deserted. Rachel heard distant rumblings from the right left and below her feet. She smiled. She knew telling Rebecca that she could release S level beings that she would release ONLY S level beings.
"Rachel you are not here enough to be Milana. Anis needs to take her place."
Rachel's eyes went wide. She almost stopped in her tracks. Had he lost his mind?!? Marce knew better than anyone that the realm decided such things and forcing the issue could destroy most of the realm.
Cramnal quickened his pace a bit. Rachel could feel his sense of urgency. He was her brother, an Azmin, and she knew he understood the ramifications as well.
'It's best not to speak to him anymore Rach. He is clearly insane.'
'Agreed.'
The siblings burst into action. Rachel sent wind and sparks of lightning to rooms on the right side of the corridor. Cramnal sent rainbow streaks of light to the rooms on the left. There were cries of pain that were cut too short and suddenly they both saw a wave of energy coming towards them.
Rachel put her hand forward and a wall of ethereal song formed before them. At the same time fine rainbow strands moved from Cramnal's fingers to intertwine and form a wall behind the one of song.
The Shockwave hit the song wall and it shook and cracked but it held. An intense wall of blue flame flowed down the hall soon battering the wall of song. The rainbow wall wove itself into the wall of song and a shimmering pool of rainbow sound moved forward snuffing out the flames.
The building rumbled and quaked like it might collapse at any moment.
Rachel turned her head to the side as if she were listening to something. She reached out her hand, grabbed air, and pulled. She pulled gently and a fair arm materialized in her hand. Another pull and a fair skinned redhead with emerald green eyes was before them. Rachel guided the woman to Cramnal who opened the door he had just created, kissed her forehead – causing her eyes to flutter and her heart to calm – and allowed her to walk in on her own accord.
There was a bellowing scream from the other end of the corridor just as Struns reached their side. He frowned. Rachel smiled "Calm down Struns. You know that Anis does not want frown lines on your face".
Struns smiled smugly. "Excuse me… Anis loves me unconditionally."
It was true.
His face became a bit more serious. "How is she?"
Rachel looked to Cramnal. His face turned stern for a moment before he calmed. "She is fine just exhausted. I think they performed sacrificial rituals to bring about a change in the realm… Calm yourself Rachel. "
Rachel's eyes became black as the abyss. "I am calm. I will calmly kill Marce."
She took two measured steps. "Marce you know what you did would never succeed. Who asked you to do this? Who are you appeasing? Who are you serving this time?"
"Things change Rachel. It is not possible for you to be all powerful forever. The realm can not bless you forever. Either you will wither and die like your mother or the realm will allow you to be killed."
Rachel didn't usually have long drawn out conversations with the insane but she needed time to understand the situation. 'Rebecca have you found what is beneath the building?'
There was a twenty second pause. 'Yes. This thing is dangerous Rach.'
'Release it and get over here.'
