Chapter 10: Maladies
Rachel and Rebecca appeared within a vast hall. The interior was made of a material that was a mix between metal and wood with vines of green, chocolaty brown, and golden yellow growing through and between the slats.
Huge flowers of varying colors bloomed throughout the hall from the walls, ceiling, and floor. There were a myriad of scents that combined to form a tranquil fragrance that made all who entered calm. If someone entered with malicious intent they instantly became docile and compliant.
Rachel inhaled deeply and smiled like a child returning home from a long day of daydreaming about video games at school.
'Where are you Cramnal?'
Although she spoke telepathically everyone on the property heard her so when her brother Cer responded she was not surprised.
'We are in Anis' quarters Rachel.'
Rachel frowned a bit but she motioned for Rebecca. Why would they still be in Anis' quarters? Had Rachel been too quick and misjudged Anis' situation?
Rachel and Rebecca took two steps forward and disappeared from view.
They reappeared in an area with the same walls, floors and ceilings made of the metallic wood but the vines in this area were two different shades of blue and light purple and only white flowers bloomed from them.
They walked to a huge set of deep purple double doors. As soon as they stepped before them the doors swung inward.
Two of Rachel's brothers set in the front sitting room: one of them, Bre, stood and walked to her smiling. He hugged her strongly and released her a bit too quickly.
Bre was tall with vibrant pink eyes and glistening amber hair. He had four dimples that shown deeply when he smiled and a long thin nose.
He looked at his sister with a mix of love and concern. "Go in Rachel, they need your help. Anis is awake but 'disoriented'."
Rebecca's smile instantly became a frown. 'Anis is disoriented?'
Her brother Mis sat on a sofa in a daze. She walked passed him and placed an orange spark upon his heart. He looked up, his face still dazed for a moment, and smiled as his eyes cleared. His eyes glazed over again, almost instantly, as he looked back down.
'Of course Mis would be like this. Twins are such an anomaly.' Rachel assessed as she walked to Anis' bedroom.
The door was lilac glass with veins of rose colored metal flowing through it in an intricate pattern of curves and broken lines. It did not have a doorknob or hinges.
Rachel walked up to the door and found the symbol that represented her and touched it. As she did this Rebecca found her symbol and did the same.
If a person's symbol was not on the door they could not enter the room. Only Anis could create the unique symbols and once she created one for a person the realm recognized the symbol as that person's true name.
This was one of Anis' abilities as a fate weaver.
The glass door shimmered as if it wavered between dimensions and the two women confidently walked through.
Cer, Cramnal, and Struns stood before a very fair woman. Her hair was deep purple, her eyes a sparkling amethyst. The problem was: those eyes were vacant.
A final man, Emil, sat in a gold and purple chair, eyes closed and sparkles of purple gold and turquoise moved randomly about him.
The men stood perplexed, and seemingly mute, as they watched over Anis.
Rachel observed the scene quietly to gauge the situation.
She changed her vision to see her sister's condition.
Her sister generally had a calm aura but now it was chaotic and she had a strange black aura continuously moving over the surface of her skin as if looking for access into her being.
The chaotic portions of her aura swirled in three distinct knots and continually changed positions in her body.
Rachel calmly observed and began pondering what question she could ask to clearly understand her sister's condition.
As she observed Anis' chaotic aura spawned a fourth knot
Rachel asked her question internally and when she received an answer she moved forward to address the situation.
As she did a fourth sparkle of light materialized before Emil and began moving about him with the rest.
With this Rachel verified that her brother was trying to subdue the chaos in Anis but was not powerful enough to truly do so.
