Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Absolute Kill
"Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang!"
The fierce sound of wind rushed past, carrying the metallic clash between Alex and Weapon Eleven far across the dam. At over a hundred meters high, their battle continued to rage.
Weapon Eleven's figure flickered in and out of sight, his dual blades striking with the ferocity of a violent storm. Yet Alex, fortified by the clairvoyance granted by his Thousand-Mile Eyes, defended flawlessly. His stance was unyielding, as impenetrable as a fortress. No matter how unpredictable or seamless Weapon Eleven's teleportation appeared, it failed to land even a single blow on him. However, Alex could only defend—his counterattacks were just as easily evaded. Over time, he resigned himself to a purely defensive role.
"Three mutant abilities... What luck! For me, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I have to kill this guy and 'devour' him whole!"
With this thought burning in his mind, Alex let out a sharp shout. His Adamantium alloy knife intercepted Weapon Eleven's twin blades once more before retaliating with a swift counterattack.
Predictably, Weapon Eleven ignored the counter and teleported effortlessly to another location, launching a new wave of attacks.
"Damn it! This is going nowhere!"
Alex parried the assault with visible frustration. Though he still showed no signs of defeat, he knew this battle was dragging into a prolonged stalemate, something he despised. It didn't help that Weapon Eleven had yet to unleash his deadliest laser beam attack. If caught off guard, the consequences would be dire.
"I need to think of something, fast!"
Suddenly, Weapon Eleven appeared in a new position. Sensing Alex still standing his ground, his eyes lit up with a savage glint. His twin blades, imbued with a crushing will, slashed down mercilessly at Alex. The ferocious combat instinct of a supreme swordsman erupted in full force.
"Now's my chance!"
Catching sight of the determination in Weapon Eleven's gaze, Alex's eyes glimmered. A plan crystallized in an instant. He stepped forward decisively, raising his Adamantium alloy knife to meet the attack.
Clang!
The collision sent Alex's weapon flying high into the air.
For a swordsman, losing their blade was akin to a gunman running out of bullets—common sense dictated they were rendered nearly useless. Without a proper weapon, their strength would drop drastically, a fatal disadvantage when fighting an equally skilled opponent.
In Weapon Eleven's eyes, Alex was now a tiger stripped of its claws—formidable in appearance but powerless in reality.
The Adamantium knife spiraled higher, completely beyond Alex's grasp.
"!"
Seize the moment, strike the kill!
Weapon Eleven's eyes flashed with ruthless intent. He leaned back to absorb the recoil before lunging forward, both blades aiming to pierce Alex in one decisive blow.
"Lesson one: I'm not someone you can judge by common sense!"
Facing the ferocious assault, Alex, unarmed, showed no hint of panic. Instead, he charged forward recklessly.
Boom!
The docile spiritual energy within Alex's body erupted violently, surging skyward. At the same time, it concentrated into his right fist, creating an overwhelming force. With a roar, Alex unleashed a devastating punch—the most iconic move in two-dimensional combat:
"Rozan Shoryu Ha!"
Inspired by the technique taught by Master Dohko in Saint Seiya, this attack focused all energy into a single punch. While Alex lacked the cosmos-burning power described in the manga, the added boost from his spiritual energy and superhuman strength made the punch capable of launching a car weighing several tons.
Bang!
The punch struck Weapon Eleven squarely in the abdomen, sending him airborne.
Before Weapon Eleven could recover, Alex flipped mid-air, closing in upside down.
"Shinmyoryu: Floating Cloud – Sakura Scatter!"
With breathtaking precision, Alex's legs scissored around Weapon Eleven's head, redirecting his upward momentum into a horizontal spin. The pair rotated in mid-air before Alex drove Weapon Eleven's skull into the dam's unyielding concrete.
Crash!
The impact created a crater riddled with cracks. Although Weapon Eleven's regenerative abilities saved him from death, his consciousness wavered.
This was exactly the opening Alex had been waiting for.
Weapon Eleven's body trembled as Alex's crimson-cross pupils ignited in his eyes. Grabbing Weapon Eleven by the throat with his left hand, Alex whispered coldly:
"Extermination Eye – Devour!"
An invisible force emanated from Alex's eyes, spreading to Weapon Eleven. His body began disintegrating, starting from his limbs and swiftly consuming him whole. Even his formidable regeneration was helpless against the power of the Extermination Eye.
"!!"
Weapon Eleven's consciousness snapped back just in time to realize his body was collapsing. In desperation, his eyes glowed as he aimed a laser beam straight at Alex's head.
Buzz!
The searing heat cut through the air, but Alex had already acted. His right hand, previously concealed, drew a hidden Adamantium dagger and delivered a precise strike, severing Weapon Eleven's head in one fluid motion.
The entire sequence—from Alex losing his knife, launching his surprise attack, and decapitating his foe—played out in less than five seconds.
As Weapon Eleven's remains were absorbed into the Extermination Eye, Alex's body surged with newfound power. His depleted spiritual energy not only replenished but grew exponentially. His physique strengthened, his muscles and bones more resilient, his raw strength reaching the equivalent of lifting five tons, and his speed surpassing 80 meters per second.
"Just one mutant, and I've made this much progress? Incredible!"
Feeling the changes coursing through his body, Alex resolved to hunt more mutants with unique abilities to expedite the evolution of his powers.
"Who knows what kind of new abilities my Extermination Eye might develop? Sharingan, Rinnegan, Mystic Eyes of Death Perception... Perhaps they aren't just fantasy!"
With a faint smile, Alex discarded the remnants of Weapon Eleven's clothes. Picking up his Adamantium knife, he gazed into the distance.
The storm had settled, but Alex's journey had just begun.
