Chapter 39 - Dinner and Monster
Four of them moved to a larger table for four people. Li Ling’er and Tian Mi also ordered the most expensive set meals.
For the next few minutes, there was an awkward silence at the table. No one said anything, and the atmosphere felt tense.
Li Ling’er finally broke the silence and asked, “Qing Mu, do you and Senior Lin have any plans after this meal?”
Qing Mu replied, somewhat awkwardly, “Uh, no, we’re just having dinner together, no specific plans or anything.” His explanation only made the situation more awkward, as if he were trying to hide something.
Li Ling’er continued, “If you don’t have plans, how about joining us to watch a movie later? There’s a new film out, ‘Peach Blossom Hero vs. Chrysanthemum Monster,’ and it’s supposed to be really good.”
Qing Mu reluctantly agreed, “Sure, why not? Since I don’t have anything else to do, watching a movie together sounds like a good idea.”
Lin Qianqian chimed in, “Take me with you. I don’t have any plans either, and it’ll be more fun if we all go together.”
Li Ling’er happily agreed, “Great! Since Senior Lin is willing to join us, it’s settled then.”
The awkward atmosphere slowly dissipated as exquisite dishes were served one by one. Despite the initial tension, everyone’s attention shifted to enjoying the delicious food.
While the restaurant was expensive, the quality of the ingredients and the skillful preparation justified the cost. Qing Mu had never tasted anything this good and couldn’t help but admire the talented chefs behind these dishes.
As the refined courses continued to arrive, the awkwardness faded away, and they enjoyed the meal more freely. Qing Mu was grateful that the focus had shifted from their earlier awkwardness.
The restaurant may have been costly, but the quality of the dining experience made it worth every penny. Qing Mu appreciated the exquisite flavors, presentation, and service.
Over an hour passed unnoticed as they savored each dish. With the final dessert served, their meal came to an end. Qing Mu, who wasn’t particularly fond of sweets, sipped some tea to cleanse his palate and decided to visit the restroom.
As he reached the entrance to the restroom, he overheard someone inside talking on the phone.
“I’ve confirmed it. That person is here. When should we make our move?”
“Immediately? But I don’t have anyone else with me right now. With my current abilities, I might not be a match for him.”
“In that case, I’ll find a way to delay that person. You send someone over quickly. This time, we must capture him.”
“Alright.”
The person on the phone concluded their conversation, though Qing Mu couldn’t discern what they were talking about.
As the man finished his phone call, he was about to leave the restroom when he unexpectedly bumped into Qing Mu. The man was middle-aged and dressed in a black trench coat, giving off an unfriendly vibe.
Upon seeing Qing Mu, the man appeared surprised but quickly realized that his plan might have been exposed. His expression turned sinister, and he said, “You heard everything?”
Qing Mu replied calmly, “I did, but it’s not my concern. I usually don’t bother with things that don’t involve me. You don’t need to worry about me.”
The man’s face twisted into a malicious grin, resembling a villain from a horror movie. He said, “Kid, consider yourself unlucky today. Now that you’ve overheard my plans, I can’t let you leave here alive.”
With those words, the man’s body emitted a green light, and he transformed into a grotesque and terrifying flea Worm, covered in spikes.
Qing Mu couldn’t believe his luck. He had encountered a Worm causing trouble just by going out for a meal and visiting the restroom.
He swiftly summoned his Decade Rider Card and inserted it into the Decade Driver, initiating his transformation.
【KamenRide! Decade!】
With a simple transformation effect, Qing Mu became Kamen Rider Decade. The flea Worm, however, wasn’t impressed, as it had the ability to accelerate to extreme speeds.
The flea Worm, as a fully mature Worm, wasn’t concerned about facing a mere Kamen Rider. It was confident in its ability to outspeed and outmaneuver its opponent.
In the blink of an eye, Qing Mu had already suffered numerous attacks from the accelerated flea Worm. His Rider armor emitted sparks as he endured the onslaught. Thankfully, the Worm’s strength was relatively low, so Qing Mu wasn’t seriously harmed.
Facing an enemy with the ability to accelerate while he couldn’t was a disadvantage for Qing Mu. Additionally, the narrow alley offered limited space for him to evade the Worm’s attacks.
Luckily, Qing Mu had a card that could grant him acceleration. He took out the Faiz Rider Card and inserted it into the Decade Driver, initiating a form change.
【KamenRide! Faiz! Complete!】
A red light enveloped Qing Mu, and his entire body was infused with photon blood, enhancing his abilities.
Flea Worm was nearly blinded by the radiance of Photon Blood, forcing it to temporarily cease its attack.
Waiting for Qing Mu to change form.
This seems to be another form of invincibility during transformation.
Before Flea Worm could launch another attack, Qing Mu swiftly inserted the Accel Form card into Decade Drive.
【FormRide! Faiz! Axel!】
Qing Mu upgraded to Kamen Rider Faiz, Accel Form.
“Whoosh!”
Flea Worm’s eyes recovered, and it attacked once again.
However, this time, Qing Mu wasn’t as easy to deal with.
【Start! Up!】
Qing Mu pressed the FaizAxel button, entering an accelerated state as well.
Now, Qing Mu not only could see Flea Worm’s movements clearly but could also easily keep up with them.
Both sides engaged in intense combat.
The narrow corridor endured the impact of a battle it should never have witnessed.
In the real world’s time.
All that could be seen were two streaks of light, one pink and one gray, colliding at speeds beyond the limits of the human eye.
The progress of this battle was impossible to discern.
As they continued to fight,
Qing Mu lost control for a moment, delivering a violent kick that sent Flea Worm flying.
“Bang!”
Flea Worm crashed through the nearby glass and plummeted from the towering building, dozens of meters high, towards the ground.
