Starting with 50 Spirit Stones and 2 Hours with My Senior Sister as Daoist Consort

Chapter 25 - Slack Off in Cultivation, and Your Dao Companion Becomes Someone Else’s

“Senior Sister’s about to hit Foundation—why’s Senior Brother looking so glum?” Li Chuan asked, playing dumb.

Zhao Bingqian snapped out of it, his face twisting with bitterness. “I should be happy,” he sighed, “but I can’t muster it. Guess my mental discipline’s still lacking.”

“I think so too,” Li Chuan said. “Senior Brother, you’ve got some work to do on that front.”

“No need to sweat it, though. Worst case, Senior Sister ditches you, ends up under some other senior brother—or maybe a junior brother.”

Zhao Bingqian’s face darkened. “Junior Brother, stop—keep going, and you’ll wreck my Dao heart.”

But Li Chuan didn’t let up. “Senior Brother, you’re overreacting. Just find a new Dao companion if it comes to that.”

“I haven’t been here long, but I know the Yin-Yang Sect loves power couples. If your strength lags and you cling to her, they’ll mock you.”

“Or more likely, they’ll rag on Senior Sister for not snagging a stronger partner.”

Zhao Bingqian finally caught the vibe, eyeing Li Chuan warily. “Why’re you saying this now? Trying to trash my Dao heart on purpose?”

“No, no,” Li Chuan shook his head. “I’m helping you toughen it up. You’ve been in the sect plenty of years—how’re you still rattled by this? Your mental game needs work.”

That rang a bell for Zhao Bingqian. He flashed back to his first run-in with Li Chuan—snapping at him, only for Chu Mengyou to say something similar.

It clicked why Li Chuan was jabbing him now.

“So,” Zhao Bingqian said, “this is about me mouthing off to you way back. Didn’t peg you for holding a grudge this long over something so small—I’d forgotten it till you brought it up.”

“My words were out of line then, sure. But last time, you felt how open I was—shared all my cultivation tips. Why’re you still nitpicking?”

Li Chuan snorted. “You mean the 30 spirit stones you tossed me to sweet-talk Senior Sister Chu Xuan into getting you onto Seventh Elder Peak?”

“What, you think I’m dumb? You wouldn’t have spilled your guts if you didn’t want in there.”

“Senior Brother, you’re so naive—like a kid thinking I’d let that slide just ‘cause of your little gesture.”

Zhao Bingqian flared up. “So you’re out to ruin me?”

“Ruin you?” Li Chuan scoffed. “If you crumble this easy, it just proves your Dao heart’s weak—needs more training.”

“Oh, and those 30 stones you gave me? Guess how I spent ‘em? On Senior Sister Mengyou.”

“You—what’s that mean?” Zhao Bingqian didn’t want to ask, but his mouth outran his brain.

“What’s it sound like? From your face, you’ve already guessed.”

“Yup—had her keep me company for half an hour. You won’t ask what we did, but I’m a good guy—I’ll tell you anyway.”

“Nothing wild—just some kissing, cuddling, then undoing her sash, slipping off her dress, peeling off her…”

He rattled off the play-by-play with Chu Mengyou like it was nothing—stuff so steamy it’d be banned if written down.

“No, no way,” Zhao Bingqian muttered, eyes bloodshot, shaking his head. “Even if Mengyou picked someone, it wouldn’t be you. Look at you—who’d choose you? Lifespan’s shot, stuck at Qi Refining third—wait, fourth? You’re fourth now?”

His words snagged mid-rant.

Only now did he notice—Li Chuan wasn’t just fourth level; his whole vibe had shifted.

White robe, white boots—not so sleazy anymore. Not quite sage-like, but he had a cultivator’s air.

The old-man look still clung, though.

“Why wouldn’t she pick me?” Li Chuan smirked, smug as hell. “Forgot to mention—after you ran your mouth, I was in her arms that same night, letting off steam.”

“Right—the time you tipped me off about her hunting task. Thanks to you, I tracked her down quick.”

“And these past few days, you didn’t really think we were off helping Senior Sister Chu Xuan, did you?”

“She’s been crashing at my place the whole time.”

“Guess why? For my convenience whenever I—”

This was murder by words—Li Chuan was shredding his Dao heart.

You didn’t need to wound a cultivator’s body—crushing their spirit hit harder.

A body could heal; a broken Dao heart was a lifetime bust.

Sure, Li Chuan and Zhao Bingqian weren’t sworn enemies. Hell, he’d even slept with the guy’s Dao companion.

He wasn’t petty, but he wasn’t a saint either.

Why not settle a score while he was at it?

“Idiot, you’ve pissed me off,” Zhao Bingqian growled, swinging a palm at him.

A tenth-level Qi Refiner didn’t have to take crap from a fourth-level punk.

But a jade hand shot out, blocking him.

“Junior Sister—” Zhao Bingqian’s face twisted as he saw Chu Mengyou. “You… you’ve hit Foundation…”

His expression soured further.

“Zhao, Junior Brother,” she said with a smile, “you should call me Senior Sister now.”

That smile—so familiar.

But to Zhao Bingqian, it stung like a hidden thorn. Fear crept in.

Then Li Chuan reached out, wrapping an arm around her slim waist.

“You bastard, let go—” Zhao Bingqian lunged again, furious.

Hugging his Dao companion right in front of him? He’d be a lousy partner if he didn’t react.

Chu Mengyou stepped in again, stopping him cold.

“Junior Brother Zhao, if you keep losing it like this, you’ll never hit Foundation in this life.”

He opened his mouth to argue, but she cut in. “I’ve broken through now. Thanks for walking the immortal path with me these years—I think our bond’s run its course.”

“What—what do you mean?” His lips trembled.

“What’s it sound like?” Li Chuan chimed in, gloating. “Senior Brother, she’s crystal clear—still don’t get it?”

“She’s saying you’re done as Dao companions. She’s dumped you.”

Zhao Bingqian stared at her, pained. “Senior Sister… you’re not waiting for me anymore?”
