Chapter 57: Chapter 56: Return to the Zhu Clan, Reunion with Zhu Qing_1
Xingluo Empire, Zhu Clan.
Zhu Zhuqing was dressed in tight black leather clothes, which perfectly enveloped her exquisite body.
She stood quietly by the windowsill, looking out at the scenery, and couldn't help feeling a bit downcast. Xu Ran had been gone for two weeks now, which made her inevitably worry that Xu Ran might be in danger.
Although Xu Ran was strong, that was only in comparison to their younger generation. Even if Xu Ran was an unrivaled genius, he still fell short compared to the older generation of powerhouses. Those elders were much older than them, and even if their talent wasn't as great, their "Cultivation Level" would still be formidable after years of accumulation.
Xu Ran's talent was exceptional, but there were likely many powerful individuals who would target him because of it. After all, if a genius like him arose in a family other than their own, he would become a future threat to other clans. Especially if the Dai family learned of such a talent emerging in the Zhu Clan, they might send assassins to kill him.
"Shameless Xu Ran, if you don't come back soon, I'm going to stop paying attention to you," Zhu Zhuqing said, her normally cool face unable to hide her anxiety.
She put her hands on the windowsill and rested her chin on them, her gaze drifting into the distance, her mind filled with images of Xu Ran.
Life had changed a lot for her since Xu Ran's arrival.
Not only had she become Xu Ran's fiancée, but most importantly, her relationship with her family had begun to improve again.
These days, she finally understood from her father that her sister hadn't intended to isolate her; she had done it to protect her. Her sister wanted her to leave the Xingluo Empire like Dai Mubai, so that in the future, they could avoid a sisterly feud.
It was laughable that she had always thought her sister didn't like her anymore.
It was precisely because she had gotten engaged to Xu Ran, with no further ties to Dai Mubai, that her relationship with her sister seemed to return to how it was when they were young. They no longer needed to keep cold faces towards each other, even as sisters, and could open up to one another. There would be no more need for sibling rivalry in the future.
And all of this was because of Xu Ran.
"Xu Ran, do you know how happy I am now? I haven't been this happy in six years. My sister and I are back to how we used to be. Even the family has started taking me seriously. But you're so shameless, just after signing an engagement with me, you ran off," Zhu Zhuqing murmured softly.
"I also wanted to spend more time with my precious Zhuqing, but here I am, looking for you after taking care of everything," a languid voice came from behind Zhu Zhuqing, and Xu Ran took her into his arms. Having been away for so long, he had missed Zhu Zhuqing terribly.
After all, Zhu Zhuqing was currently his only fiancée, as Xiaowu, Ah Yin, and others were yet to be officially related to him.
"Ah," Zhu Zhuqing exclaimed in surprise, startle by Xu Ran's sudden appearance. Upon realizing it was Xu Ran, her heart fluttered with a mix of embarrassment and joy. Embarrassed that Xu Ran was holding her so intimately, but overjoyed that the long-gone Xu Ran had finally returned. Her modesty as a girl made her want to break free from Xu Ran's embrace, but having not seen him for so many days, she was reluctant to let go.
While Zhu Zhuqing was momentarily stunned, Xu Ran sat down on the lounge chair by the windowsill and placed her directly on his lap.
"Xu Ran, what are you doing?" Zhu Zhuqing asked with a blush spreading across her pretty face, her beautiful eyes looking at Xu Ran as she spoke softly.
"I'm holding my fiancée, what else?" Xu Ran replied, watching Zhu Zhuqing's cheeks flush with shyness and couldn't help but smile. Zhu Zhuqing was quite reserved in that regard. Outwardly she appeared cool, but that was just a protective coloration.
"Oh," Zhu Zhuqing whispered, nodding her head softly in acknowledgment. It was only then that she remembered her engagement to Xu Ran, realizing that being intimate with him was not out of place.
However, for many years, she had been alone and had no experience interacting with others. When it came to relationships, she was a blank slate. She didn't know what to do as a fiancée.
If Xu Ran made those kinds of requests, should she agree?
But wouldn't that be moving too fast? After all, she and Xu Ran weren't at that stage yet. But Xu Ran could be quite flirtatious, what should she do if Xu Ran became unhappy because she rejected him?
Zhu Zhuqing's mind raced with wild thoughts.
A girl in the blossom of youth always entertains such fanciful thoughts.
"What are you thinking about?" Xu Ran's arms encircled Zhu Zhuqing's slim yet slightly plump waist, as he buried his nose deeply into her glossy black hair, inhaling the scent emanating from her.
"It's nothing. Oh, I have some good news to tell you. My sister actually doesn't dislike me; she acted that way only to avoid a feud between us," Zhu Zhuqing said, her eyes warming up at the thought of her current relationship with "Zhu Zhuyun". Since childhood, she and her sister had been the closest, and now their bond had returned.
"That's great. Speaking of which, I've been in the Zhu Clan for quite a while and have yet to meet Zhu Yun Jiě," Xu Ran said, his thoughts drifting to "Zhu Zhuyun". According to the original story, her figure far surpassed that of Zhu Zhuqing. If Zhuqing's figure was already so impressive, Zhu Yun's must require two hands to grasp, right?
Such a perfect figure was probably enough to make every girl in the world pale in comparison.
"My sister is studying at Star Luo Senior Soul Master Academy. During the last clan meeting, she went out on a training expedition with her academy. This time, when she came back and heard about you, she really wanted to meet you. But since you weren't at home, she had to give up on the idea. Now that you're back, I'll go to Xingluo Academy tomorrow to give her the news," Zhu Zhuqing said, her eyes tender with affection. If it weren't for Xu Ran, that misunderstanding with her sister might never have been cleared up in her entire life.
"It's good that the misunderstanding is resolved, and now you won't have to be like before—misunderstanding each other," Xu Ran said with a smile.
