Chapter 16: 16: Recrui + Announcement/Question?
A/N: Please read the Note at the end of the chapter today.
________________
The journey to Recrui would take about 7 days. Eren felt that this would be the perfect time to put Wyper through the hel-, ahem, training that he and Enel had experienced every day for the last 6 years.
Each morning he would have to train with heavy weights that Enel would make out of the gold they carried with them. After that he would spar with either Eren or Enel. Of course, both of them would use Haki and not hold back a bit.
At least physically. They didn't use their Devil Fruit powers, except for the elementalization on the off chance that Wyper would hit them.
In addition, he had asked Enel to create a weapon for him. It was a spear with a double-edged spearhead. He had thought about giving him a Naginata, similar to Whitebeard's Murakumogiri, but realized that such a weapon was more focused on brute force.
Wyper's fighting style was too agile for such a simple weapon, so the more complex spear would suit him much better.
In fact, from the moment he received the weapon, the Shandians' fighting power improved greatly. This proved that it was the right weapon for him. Much better than the graceful sword or the brutal naginatat.
During their journey, they passed through the climate zones of 3 different islands, experiencing the weather of the Grand Line for the first time.
During the first incident of terrible weather, they accidentally entered a heavy snowstorm that completely blocked any vision. Eren quickly made the decision to switch to flight mode and take to the skies.
This turned out to be the only right decision, because when they looked down, they saw some huge rocks sticking out of the sea. If they hadn't avoided them, they probably would have ended up like the Titanic.
The second time, they simply suffered from extreme heat. It wasn't really an accident that they had narrowly avoided, but it was very annoying, and they almost collapsed from the intense heat.
The last time they ran into a monstrous storm, but they didn't have to be afraid of it. After all, they had the number one thunderboy on their ship. With Enel's fruit ability, he was able to dispel the storm quite easily.
All of this strengthened Eren's decision to look for a capable navigator soon. At the same time, he had realized that they might also need some sails on their ship. At first, Eren hadn't bothered to install any, since their journey would mostly be powered by their fruit powers.
Sometimes Enel would make the boat fly, and other times Eren would manipulate space to shrink it and make them move extremely fast, even when they were just going with the current.
That was all great, and during those times he really didn't need a sail, but Eren had noticed a problem - it was kind of annoying to be reduced to a motor all the time. Whenever they flew, it might be okay, because Enel was the one who powered their journeys. But whenever Eren had to transport them for several hours, he was somehow annoyed.
When they were about to arrive on the island, Eren formulated three goals in his mind. First: Kill that weak-ass warlord. Second: get a navigator and finally, I should definitely install a main mast.
Theoretically, Enel could easily create a mast out of pure gold, but it was impractical. The mast didn't need to conduct electricity, so it would be much cheaper to just build it out of wood. It wasn't like they had an infinite amount of gold lying around.
In a few minutes they would finally reach the island, and from here they could already see some parts of it. It was filled with some small mountains, with hardly any plains.
The most interesting thing about the island was the fact that all the mountains were extremely reflective. They almost looked like they were made of mirrors and were slightly blinding to the eye.
"Be careful when we set foot on the island," Eren warned his crew members. "Do not look at the mountains or anything reflective higher than about 1 meter. Otherwise you might see Paolo's face, which would cause you to be hypnotized."
It seems that this pirate was a clever one. He had chosen his location perfectly to find a way around his exposed Fruit powers so that he could still use them almost to their full potential. It seems that this guy will be harder to beat than they thought.
"It will probably be best if Enel and I both wear blindfolds. After all, we should still be able to sense our surroundings with the help of our Observation Haki. But you should be especially careful not to see anything Wyper."
As they approached the island, Eren steered their boat towards what seemed to be the largest city. He would estimate that it probably had about 10,000 inhabitants, but he couldn't be too sure since he wasn't close enough to see the whole thing yet.
When they finally arrived, he and Enel blindfolded themselves with a piece of clothing. After getting off the ship, Eren looked around for people to pay a fee for docking, but strangely enough, there wasn't a single soul around. That made him frown, because such a big city couldn't be unattended.
"Where are all the people?" The still bruised Wyper asked both Eren and Enel. After he had learned about Observation Haki, he knew that they should theoretically be able to sense everyone around them as long as someone was present.
"For some reason, they are all inside the buildings," Enel replied, having also used his Observation Haki to sense their proximity. "It's almost as if they're hiding from something. Though it shouldn't be us, since we don't even have any pirate flags visible on our ship."
At that moment, Eren picked up on some movement above them with the help of his Observation Haki.
A group of men suddenly appeared on the roof above. All of them held either guns or swords. They all seemed quite strong, with thick muscles and a few scars from battle. It looked like they had been in a lot of fights.
"Follow. me. to. palace. now!" The man in front suddenly spoke. His voice was strangely distorted, though, and he spoke as a primitive roboter would probably do.
Since neither Eren nor Wyper nor Enel were stupid, they all realized that the men in front of them were probably under the influence of the Hypno-Hypno fruit, which meant that they were here on Paolo's orders.
"Don't kill them. Just incapacitate them, and try not to hurt them too much," Eren said suddenly, before he warped the distance between himself and the roof to an extremely short one.
He didn't teleport on purpose. He had thought about this years ago. If Imu had eaten a Heaven Fruit, then her fruit would probably be extremely strong as well. It could be the Logia of Time, the Paramecia of Destruction/Creation, or maybe of Life or Death. At the very least, it would be related to one of the basic rules of the world.
If another, previously unknown fruit with the same or similar properties and strength appeared now, it would be very easy for Imu to guess how it might be related to the Will of the World. At the moment, this would be his downfall, as he was still far too weak. And the Space-Space fruit obviously fit that criteria.
Therefore, he had decided to pretend that he had eaten another fruit. The Distance Distance Fruit. It allowed him to freely manipulate distances, either shortening or widening them. This was a partial ability of his fruit, and it was still quite strong, so he wouldn't weaken himself too much.
At the same time, there was one very big limitation. He would have to deactivate his Elementalization, as there was no way that a Distance-Distance Fruit would be of the Logia type.
But Eren had also thought of a method to create a similar invincibility that might be even stronger. It was similar to a certain sorceror from JJK, but he didn't have enough mastery over his fruit to achieve it yet.
Eren had already thought about creating a second persona for himself, in which he would only use the teleportation abilities of his fruit, but he wasn't sure about it now.
He didn't have time to think about that problem right now though, because he was standing in front of about a hundred men with dangerous weapons. He had to take them out now.
He decided not to use his Armament Haki, because that would be overkill. In this way, he flashed through the people, shortening the distance and taking out one by one with a clean blow to the head.
Enel did the same with the help of his speed granted by the Thunder Logia. He didn't need to hide his abilities, as the government had known about his fruit for a long time.
Wyper also did his best, although he had to fight a little harder to dodge all the bullets.
In this way, one enemy after another fell unconscious, most of them almost unharmed except for the damage to their heads. It took only a single minute for them all to fall to the ground. The speed of the two brothers was almost unfathomable.
"It seems that someone is constantly watching every ship that arrives on the island. This also means that Paolo is most likely already aware of our presence. We have to be extra careful from now on." Eren warned the crew once more before they left for the inner parts of the island.
The men who had tried to capture them spoke of some kind of palace where the warlord probably resided. They quickly approached Paolo.
___________________________
So I've been thinking about writing another story with the same fruit, but different premise. After writing some chapters, I've noticed that Eren got too strong too fast, which I don't like.
In the new story he would instead obtain a system (I know most of you don't like it) but that would be purely assisting, but in another way than this one. The promise of the story would basically be, that many of the overpowered Devil Fruits actually regrow in fruits that are located underwater, undiscovered by the people on the surface. Eren would then have a system that shows him the location and abilities of these Devil Fruits as long as he is within a certain distance of them.
(Maybe not just Devil Fruits but also other treasures, as I've always felt like the treasure hunting aspect of being a pirate is somehow neglected in One Piece)
In addition he would also become a fish man instead of a sky man, as I feel like they are very underappreciated in most fanfics, even though they have huge potential.
The new story would allow him to grow more organically, as he would only discover his Devil Fruit a bit later on and it would also help him to build a crew that doesn't depend too heavily on canon-characters. I always feel like its hard to explain why some mcs suddenly discover so many admiral-level figures that never appeared in the original work.
The restrictions of him not interacting with Luffy's antagonists/ allies would also be lifted.
As I've only written 25 chapters of this novel by now, that would not be too much of a delay in the release date, though I would need about 2 weeks to come up with a satisfactory storyline. I would somewhat delay release in the next two weeks anyway, as I'm going skiing. (Not much time to write, but a lot of time to think.)
Due to my load at college I won't be able to write both books as that would take too much time.
Let me know under this paragraph or at the end of the chapter if you would appreciate such a (somewhat more unique) novel more. Also let me know if I should keep the same DF or come up with a new one (Mythical Zoan for example).
Thanks for reading the book. Keep in mind that I will simply keep on writing this one if the amount of readers that want me to change the story is not large enough.
The mc would probably also aim to create his own organization comparable to the Marines instead of just a normal pirate crew, with the sheer amount of Devil Fruits he can equip people with.
I will decide in the next 2 or 3 days depending on the feedback. Thanks in advance :)
Please use your power stones now, as you will be hypnotised by Paolo otherwise.
