Chapter 4: The First Transaction
Adam entered the market place of the Otherworld and his senses were overwhelmed by the sounds, sights, and smells. Merchants brought out their wares from the colorful stalls, and their cries turned into melodious songs. The air smelled of spices, cooked food and something metallic that Adam couldn't place.
"Concentration" he muttered to himself as he tucked the grimoire under his arm.
He has a plan, albeit a weak one. He tested the water, see if It's a request for what it can offer. Skill books are his trump cards, but he can't show them off right away.
He approached a sun-drenched thrift store. The customer, a stout man with a scar down his cheek, looked at him suspiciously.
"Do you want to buy or sell?" The customer grumbled
Adam hesitated for a moment before answering "Buy".
The salesman folded his arms. "Let's see what you got."
people He placed a small bottle on the counter - a medicinal potion he had found before in prison. It wasn't much, but it was enough to gauge the market.
The customer takes the container and examines it carefully. "Good quality," he said. "I'll give you three pieces of silver for that."
Adam's heart was sad. It was nowhere near what he expected. "Three? It's probably worth ten," he thought.
The salesman sniffed. "Not here, no. Medicines like that are common. "Take it or leave it"
Adam clasped his hands. He had been despised, just like in the original world. But he managed to remain calm. It was a learning experience, nothing more.
"Okay,"
said through gritted teeth.
After the sale, Adam wandered around the market, watching and listening. He noticed patterns—what was selling fast, what people were ignoring, and how the vendors seemed to be very interested.
He noticed something else too: the Lack of skill books
No shopkeepers showed them, and the few stories he heard confirmed his thoughts. Skill books and famous items are rare in this world.
This is my advantage,
thought as his mind raced. "If I can control the supply, I can control the market."
Later, as the sun sank below the horizon, Adam found a quiet corner to think.
He opened the grimoire and flipped through the pages. The symbols used for the dance His eyes, their meaning far away.
"How do I do this?" he wondered.
the systems responded.
Adam's heart skipped a beat. "Skill building? "Can I make a skill book?"
>
His mind wandered. This changed everything. If he could make a skill book, he wouldn't just buy rare items, he would make them.
"But what items?" he asked.
The system responded.
resources: Demon Essence, Soul Stones and a Ritual Circle. >
Adam's face. The monster essence and soul stones he might find, but a ritual circle? It seems complicated.
"Where do I start?"
The system remained as silent as ever.
As Adam prepared for the night, he couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and fear. He was on the brink of something big, but the path forward was clear.
But one thing was certain: he He didn't want to go back
"Adapt or die,"
he muttered to himself, the words taking on new meaning.
And for the first time he seems to adapt.
