Shinigami: Medicine Can't Save The Soul Reaper Society

Chapter 181: Chapter 182: 1 on 1 Training Session

As Hanataro gradually immersed himself in his duties, Makoto allowed himself to fully relax, even finding time to occasionally glance at the many vibrant graduates gathered before him.

However, a sense of regret lingered in Makoto's mind. The Shihakusho was not exactly a garment designed to accentuate a person's figure. Its original purpose was purely functional—crafted for combat.

Save for the exception of the more... developed Rangiku, whose mature figure practically defied the constraints of the Shihakusho, revealing traces of her natural curves, the other female Shinigami found their forms rather obscured and bound by the outfit's design.

Yet, for the Fourth Division, which bore no combat responsibilities, the Shihakusho seemed particularly unnecessary.

More importantly, the black hue of the uniform clashed with the nurturing environment required for a medical team. For patients, the color carried an unwelcome weight, both literally and symbolically.

"Perhaps, once the Fourth Division stabilizes, we could consider introducing white uniforms more fitting for medical professionals."

Makoto rubbed his chin thoughtfully, his eyes glinting with sudden inspiration.

To him, this wasn't just about comfort for the team; it was equally about fostering a better psychological atmosphere for their patients.

Of course... there wasn't even a shred of personal desire involved in this idea—certainly not because he wanted to see Unohana in such a uniform and imagine how stunning she might look.

As this thought crossed his mind, Makoto felt his throat go dry. He instinctively reached for the tea before him and took a sip.

The next moment, as the tea slid down his throat, Makoto's expression stiffened slightly. Shifting his gaze, he noticed Aizen sitting beside him, watching with a gentle, knowing smile.

That very tea... had been personally poured by Aizen himself moments ago.

Without missing a beat, Aizen picked up the teapot again, refilling Makoto's cup as he spoke warmly. "Makoto-kun, this tea comes from Captain Hirako's private collection. What do you think?"

"...Not bad," Makoto replied, his lips twitching slightly. Simultaneously, he focused his attention inward, using his Spiritual Particle Control technique to dissipate the tea he had just consumed into harmless vapor and expel it.

Given his own penchant for leaving 'surprises' in others' bodies, Makoto had developed an ironclad policy: never leave a trace of anything from Aizen within himself.

The rest of the division assignment ceremony proceeded without further incident. Aizen refrained from causing any chaos, such as summoning two or three Adjuchas to slaughter the newly graduated recruits of the Seireitei.

Unexpectedly, the Fourth Division emerged as the biggest winner of the day, claiming over one-third of the graduating class.

This was unprecedented. Historically, the Fourth Division rarely recruited more than ten new members per year—sometimes fewer. This year's intake was more than tenfold.

When Makoto returned to the division headquarters with the large group of recruits, even Unohana's typically composed expression showed a flicker of surprise.

For the normally reserved Fourth Division to suddenly swell in numbers to this extent was completely outside her expectations.

As Makoto approached to report, Unohana couldn't help but ask, "Makoto, how did you manage to recruit so many people?"

"By emphasizing the numerous benefits of joining the Fourth Division, highlighting your esteemed position in the Seireitei, and, of course, appealing to the nobility of serving as a healer," Makoto replied smoothly, gauging Unohana's reaction carefully.

After a brief pause, he added nonchalantly, "By the way, Captain Unohana, a graduate raised an interesting point earlier: since the Fourth Division lacks combat responsibilities, the Shihakusho seems rather unnecessary.

"I gave it some thought, and it does make sense. The black Shihakusho isn't particularly suited for a healing environment. Perhaps we could consider introducing specialized uniforms more appropriate for medical work."

Unohana regarded him curiously. "Oh? What sort of design do you have in mind?"

Makoto pretended to mull it over before replying, "I was thinking of drawing inspiration from modern medical institutions in the World of the Living."

"If that's the case, then go ahead and design something," Unohana said casually. Given Makoto's role as Vice-captain, it was reasonable for him to propose improvements for the division.

She had more pressing concerns anyway—like how to accommodate the sudden influx of over a hundred recruits.

The Fourth Division's current roster wasn't much larger than the group of new graduates Makoto had brought in, and their facilities were hardly equipped to handle this many newcomers.

Despite increasingly delegating most administrative duties to Makoto, Unohana found this particular situation perplexing. She unconsciously glanced at him again.

"Makoto, do you have any suggestions for managing these new recruits?"

Makoto, having anticipated the question, responded confidently, "Captain Unohana, while these graduates have been selected with care, most of them are far from proficient in Kaido or medical skills. Without substantial training, they won't be able to contribute effectively."

Unohana nodded, fully aware of the problem. The Shin'o Academy rarely produced students focused on healing arts. The core disciplines—Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Hoho, and Kido—were the primary focus, leaving Kaido specialists in short supply.

"Captain, I propose centralized management with a mentorship system—pairing experienced members with new recruits for one-on-one guidance, supplemented by regular training sessions."

Unohana's eyes brightened at the suggestion. "Go on," she urged.

Makoto proceeded to outline a refined version of a training system from his past life, tailored to fit the Fourth Division's unique needs.

It was, without question, the most efficient way to quickly cultivate competent medics without disrupting the existing order.

After some contemplation, Unohana's gaze softened with approval. "Makoto, I'll leave this matter to you."
