Chapter 29: 27-A talk and sharks
After Ozpin and the General talk with Gaster about explosive eggs not knowing that something more dangerous than the explosion was born from the egg they turn to Ruby and Ron
[Ozpin]: Now that we've settled the issue with the egg, let's move on. Ruby, and Ron, I'd like to hear what brought you two here.
[Ruby]: I'd feel better if my bad guy catching records wasn't three
The room was silent and Ruby already nervous was now embarrassed
[Glynda]: was anyone with them did they look familiar at all?
[Ruby]: I don't know, the girl she was wearing a mask and she didn't say anything, and she fought with glass I don't think it was her semblance through her clothes let up whenever she attacked, but the man his name is Red we met him before when we were after Roman Torchwick, he had a semblance that can bring the dead back to life.
[Glynda]: She sounds like the woman we fought when we first met Miss Ruby as for the man nothing on him
[Ironwood]: Imbedding Dust into clothing is an age-old technique it could have been anyone
[Ruby]: Actually I think I heard her say something about a hideout or something in the southeast just outside the kingdom
[Ozpin]: Interesting. Why don't you two go and spend some time with your teams? I think the rest of Team GRAM is busy cleaning after the explosion.
Ozpin's gaze shifted toward Gaster, his tone more serious.
[Ozpin]: Mr. Gaster, you stay.
Ruby and Ron exchanged glances, clearly curious but not about to question the headmaster.
[Ron]: Well, I guess that's our cue.
[Ruby]: Yeah, let's catch up with the others before things get... more explosive.
As Ruby and Ron exited the room, Gaster remained, his eyes following them momentarily before turning back to Ozpin. The door clicked shut, leaving Gaster alone with Ozpin, Ironwood, and Glynda.
[Ozpin]: Gaster, you've been here long enough to understand the gravity of our situation. You are now well aware that our enemies are becoming bolder. The individuals Ruby encountered... especially the one she calls 'Red'... I have a feeling we're missing something crucial here.
Gaster looked at Ozpin and the rest he had a plan for everything, and he would use one now to keep them away from him and his Team because he knew people like Ozpin don't trust others easily, and their trust disappears when they start questioning your loyalty.
[Gaster]: I understand this as much as you do, Oz. I was there when we first encountered Red. Let me tell you... he has a deep shadow—one that may devour us all if we look too long.
Ozpin's expression darkened, the weight of Gaster's words sinking in. Even Ironwood and Glynda, both hardened by years of battle and strategy, exchanged concerned glances.
[Glynda]: A shadow... Are you implying there's more to this man than meets the eye?
[Gaster]: More than just a man. Red, whoever or whatever he is, isn't driven by normal human ambition. He moves like someone who doesn't fear the consequences. And more importantly... we aren't the only ones playing this game. A third side has joined the fray, Oz.
Ozpin raised an eyebrow, his expression sharp.
[Ozpin]: A third side? Who or what are you suggesting?
Gaster's gaze darkened, his mind turning over the implications.
[Gaster]: I don't have all the pieces yet, but Red isn't acting alone. He's a part of something bigger—something hidden. It's not just the usual suspects like Salem. There's a force in the shadows, making moves we haven't accounted for. Whoever they are, they've managed to remain unseen by us... until now.
Ironwood shifted, his metal arm clicking as he folded his arms across his chest.
[Ironwood]: You're saying we're caught between two enemies? One we know, and another that's been operating under our radar?
[Gaster]: Precisely. And it's that hidden enemy I'm more concerned about. Red is connected to them—whether as a pawn or something more, I can't say yet. But I know this: they're making their own moves in this war. They're using Red and others like him to disrupt us and perhaps even Salem's plans.
[Ozpin]: If that's true, then we've been underestimating the scope of this conflict.
[Glynda]: A war fought on three fronts is far more dangerous than anything we've anticipated. How can we prepare for an enemy we can't even see?
[Back to Ron and Ruby]
[Ruby]: Oh They are so cute I can't stop hugging them, who is a good shark yes you are
Ruby was playing with the small group of ten sharks with Maple, As for Ron he was bandaging Adrian and cleaning the Room and didn't see that Ruby and Maple took the sharks to the Team RWBY dorm.
[Back to Ron and Ruby]
[Ruby]: Oh, they're so cute! I can't stop hugging them. Who's a good little shark? Yes, you are!
Ruby was playing with the small group of ten tiny, four-legged sharks, giggling as she cuddled them. Maple was right next to her, equally enthralled by the strange but adorable creatures, laughing softly as they nibbled on her sleeves.
Meanwhile, Ron was busy bandaging Adrian, who looked like he'd been through a war zone. His face was covered in soot, with minor cuts and bruises from being blasted out of the window by the egg explosion.
[Ron]: You're lucky the egg didn't take out the whole building... or worse.
Adrian groaned, wincing as Ron tied the bandage a bit too tight.
[Adrian]: Yeah, thanks for the reminder. Who knew Gaster's "simple egg" experiment would turn into... well, that.
Ron glanced over his shoulder, spotting Ruby and Maple still happily playing with the newly hatched creatures.
[Ron]: Wait... where are they going with those sharks?
[Adrian]: Oh no... don't tell me they're taking them—
Before Adrian could finish, the girls disappeared out the door, heading straight for Team RWBY's dorm with the sharks happily bouncing along behind them. Ron groaned, knowing exactly what kind of chaos was about to unfold.
[Ron]: Why do I feel like this is going to come back to bite me... literally?
[Adrian]: Well, at least it's not my problem anymore...
Ron gave him a look, tying the last bandage with a huff.
[Ron]: It's everyone's problem now.
Ron sprinted toward Team RWBY's dorm, already sensing the impending disaster. When he finally reached the room and pushed the door open, he was met with a scene that was both chaotic and oddly heartwarming.
Yang was lounging on her bed, three of the tiny sharks happily nestled in her wild blonde hair. She was cradling another in her arms like it was a stuffed animal, grinning from ear to ear.
[Yang]: Look, Ron! I've got shark hair accessories now!
Weiss, surprisingly enough, was kneeling on the floor, gently petting one of the creatures. She seemed more intrigued than disgusted, a rare sight when it came to something unusual.
[Weiss]: I have to admit, they're... oddly adorable. But Ron, what exactly are these things?
Ron's eyes darted to Blake, who was sitting on her bed, staring at one of the sharks with a look that made him nervous. She was drooling, her feline instincts clearly kicking in as she watched the tiny creature waddle around.
[Ron]: Blake, don't even think about it...
Blake blinked, wiping her mouth and giving Ron an innocent look.
[Blake]: What? I'm not going to eat it... right now.
Ron pinched the bridge of his nose, trying not to be angry.
[Short story; inside a sharks-turtle-Maple hybrid head]
We do not know why we were made. The Creator's intentions are a mystery, but we came into existence with one purpose: to serve. When we were born, we faced our first challenge—the one whose essence we were made from. She was strong, fierce, the Great Devourer.
We were ready to fight. We thought that was what we were meant to do. But in a single move, the Mother—Maple, as she is called—defeated us. We expected to be devoured, to be undone as quickly as we were made. But instead, she showed us mercy.
Her smile. Her warm embrace. These were things we had not anticipated. The Mother did not destroy us; she welcomed us. She cradled us in her arms, soft, kind, and full of warmth. It was at that moment, in her gentle care, that we understood.
We were not made to fight her, but to protect her. She was our guide, our caretaker, and we swore an oath—one not of words, but of instinct and loyalty. Even if it means turning against the Creator himself, we will protect the Mother. She is our world, our purpose.
