Chapter 32
Chapter 32
"Ellis, please understand that my intention is not to involve you in my family politics. I will do everything in my power to protect you. No one will dare to harm my future bride, not while I am alive. My love for you is genuine, and I am determined to make you fall for me. I will not give up until you are by my side as my bride."
As I led Kris away, I could feel Caroline's gaze following us, her eyes burning with determination and love. I knew I had to find a way to let her down gently, without causing any harm to our future relationship. Kris, on the other hand, was seething with anger, her grip on my hand tight.
"What the hell was that, Ellis?! That woman was trying to use you! You can't just go along with her selfish desires!" she hissed.
I sighed, knowing that Kris was just trying to protect me. "I know, Kris. But this is a complicated situation. Caroline is from a powerful family, and rejecting her could have serious consequences. Plus, I can't just lead her on and give her false hope. I have to find a way to let her down gently."
I could see the understanding dawn on Kris's face, and she nodded. "I get it. But promise me you won't get involved in any dangerous situations because of this. I don't want to lose you, Ellis."
I smiled at my dear friend, feeling grateful for her concern. "I promise, Kris. I'll be careful."
With that, we continued on to our next class, and both of us were lost in our own thoughts.
As I considered my options, I realized that Caroline could potentially serve as a means of escape if things took a turn for the worst. While I didn't necessarily feel love for her, I knew that her background, talent, and wealth could provide me with a comfortable life. In a worst-case scenario, I could play the love card and flee with her to safety. It was a risky plan, but it was one that I knew could potentially pay off in the end. However, I was determined to do everything in my power to avoid having to resort to such measures, I had carefully considered my plan, and I knew that while I couldn't change the overall plot, I could still make favorable impressions on the heroines or potentially make one or two of them fall for me so that I could survive in the end. It was a dark and calculated decision, but it was one that I had to make.
We soon arrived at the training stadium.
The anticipation in the air was palpable as we waited for our combat instructor to arrive. As the minutes ticked by, some of my classmates grew restless and complained about the delay. But their grumbling was soon silenced by an overwhelming sense of dread that washed over us like a tidal wave. It was as if an unseen predator was lurking behind us, ready to pounce and take us down at any moment. Kris and I exchanged uneasy glances, both of us feeling the tension in the air. Even Freya seemed on edge. Then, a cold voice broke the silence. "So you are this year's top class, huh?" We all turned towards the entrance of the stadium, where a woman had just appeared.
Black hair flowing behind her, reaching her back, the air suddenly making chilly winds, eyes clear as an ocean, calm, cold, and piercing.
Her eyes were cold and seemed to not care about anyone.
A long soft and beautiful nose and small scarlet lips were making her seem more beautiful.
Seeing her face, a name entered my mind automatically.
Nova Hart.
A main heroine….
So far, I have met 2 main heroines, Alice, the student council president, and Nova, the combat professor.
Others are the side heroines with small arcs in the novel.
Nova was a terrible character to associate with.
An ambitious woman…. Ambition to be the strongest…
She was a heroine that was present in many of the arcs. in the novel and played important roles at many instances
She was actually the daughter of a Sword God teaching at the academy to learn more and grow strong.
She was very clever and intelligent.
She was there to teach the combat class, but it was not her main purpose for being at the academy. In fact, she had come to request something from the dean, who had asked her to teach at the academy for a few years before granting her wish. The woman was searching for a particular artifact, and the dean had promised to give it to her if she agreed to teach at the academy. Despite her reluctance, she accepted the offer and now stood before the class, ready to impart her knowledge and skills.
She was an uncompromising person, accustomed to getting what she wanted and never willing to share her possessions.
Raised by demanding parents from a young age, she had developed a strong sense of self-importance and a desire to always come out on top.
Despite this, she was highly skilled and respected by those who knew her
While her personality may not have been well-liked by many, they were helpless against her due to her formidable strength.
In the novel, actually, her story was that the hero coming into her life changed her personality while she made his life hell.
Yes, the hero was a typical pushover who liked to be the valiant and righteous guy.
He fell in love with her at first sight and proposed to her,
Nova was amused by him and wanted to play with him so she accepted his proposal as their relationship began.
Being the devil she was, she made the hero suffer a lot due to her personality and him being a girl magnet.
But alas, the hero had tough skin and endured her beatings.
What happens next was that Nova showed her colors and became obsessed with him, always pathologically jealous of every woman he talked with.
Most of the time, she would kill any woman talking with him.
In the reality, she wanted him to be the one obsessed with her not the other way around.
She owned things, things didn’t own her.
Guessing the timeline, she must have already met with the hero and have already started making his life hell.
Associating with her was similar to jumping to my death.
She was currently one of the strongest even among the academy professors.
If my memory serves me right, the hero should be in his 3rd year right now.
The class was silent as she spoke as no one dared to speak up in front of her.
The influential ones already knew her background and didn’t dare to act arrogant in front of her.
She examined the class with her cold eyes and spoke.
“Pick your weapons.”
And pointed towards the small storage cabin where dummy weapons were stored.
Although most people used swords here, there were still people who liked other weapons like spears, axes, knuckles, etc.
