Chapter 37 Being treated as a god
Brandon stared at the statue closely and his mood fluctuated. He couldn't calm down for a long time. When he came back to his senses, he found that all the cannibals had retracted their steps, leaving him in front, staring at the statue. He was startled.
Could it be that they had some conspiracy? He turned around and looked back, and was stunned. All the cannibals in the tribe had been kneeling together. Under the leadership of the old man and the clan leader, their heads touched the ground.
When the old man saw Brandon turning around, he was shocked and started talking loudly and making gestures, which was very odd to Brandon who was confused.
It seemed that communication was indeed a big problem. If he can't communicate, How would I be able to understand the situation at all? Brandon's big head questioned, nodding slightly.
A thought came into his mind. The old monk once said that there were many eminent monks in Buddhism who could understand anyone's mind. Even before someone would start speaking, they'd know what that person would be thinking, which was very mystical.
According to the monk's teachings, it was the result of strong mental qi. Those eminent monks had to meditate every day. Meditation was the method of cultivating mental qi.
Through strong mental qi, he would be able to detect the other party's thoughts. Brandon couldn't help but be curious. His mental qi had been accumulated through training, and coupled with today's adventure, it had reached an extremely strong level.
I wonder if I could communicate through this? Why not give it a try? Brandon didn't care what consequences his recklessness would produce. In his eyes, those cannibals were not his kind at all.
His mental qi was slowly released, and he guided it towards the head of the old man who looked like a wizard. Suddenly a very strange feeling originated in his heart. The old wizard's words seemed to resound directly in his heart, very clearly. Although he could not understand the other party's language, he understood exactly what he meant. It was incredible, as if he was speaking directly to his heart.
"O God, you are the highest of them all. Please forgive ignorant humans for offending you. You must have come down from the sky to protect our people."
Brandon smiled bitterly in his heart, it seemed that he was being treated as a god. However, he was still seriously injured and needed to be recuperated in time. It seemed that he would have to stay for a while. Moreover, Brandon was also planning to stay and observe.
What is going on with this god? Does it really exist? Thinking of this, he tried to put on a majestic posture. The wings opened slightly, slowly releasing the draconic aura, and suddenly a faint intimidation filled the air.
The cannibals felt that their hearts suddenly became heavy, breathing became difficult, and a breath of fear spread in the air. They unconsciously pressed their bodies lower, and began to become more pious to the god in their hearts.
He released all his mental qi and slowly looked towards the heads of the twenty or so people in front. Brandon imitated the old wizard's tone and began to speak. "Humble humans, I am the great dragon Brandon Drake. Your offence against me made me very angry. If it weren't for your piety to me, you would have turned into ashes."
Hearing the majestic voice of their God, the people in front were obviously excited. If it were not for this occasion, they would definitely not be able to control themselves and shout loudly. But now they realised that their piety had been recognized by God, and they couldn't help but feel more pious in their hearts.
The solemn and fanatical expressions on his face seemed very contradictory. The old wizard seemed very excited. He had been pretending all his life, and he didn't even believe that this God really existed. He didn't expect that the god would actually appear in front of him today and talk to him in person.
His expression became even more respectful. He knelt on the ground and said loudly. "O Protector, thank you for coming to our tribe. I will ask my people to prepare the most abundant blood sacrifice for you immediately."
When Brandon heard about the blood sacrifice, he immediately thought of the human skin bags on the stone pillars outside the thatched cottage, as well as the human body parts and internal organs inside. He couldn't help but feel sick in his stomach.
He immediately spoke. "My followers, blood sacrifice is no longer necessary for me now. As long as you remain pious to me. In addition, prepare food for me every day. I plan to stay here for a while to test your faith."
After deceiving the cannibals, he felt mentally exhausted. He suddenly realised that the minds of more than twenty people had reached his limit. He walked into that thatched hut, and now his body was in a mess.
Although the external injuries were almost healed due to his strong self-healing ability, the internal energy in his body was like a mess, twisted into a pile. The internal qi had gone astray in some spots of qi veins. It kept colliding with the meridians, causing severe pain all over his body. If it weren't for his physical strength, he would have gone crazy by now.
Now he urgently needed to find a place to relax and straighten out his inner strength. He found a clear space next to the statue, laid down on the ground, closed his eyes and regulated his breathing.
Soon he discovered that the internal qi in the entire meridians has gone rogue. The internal qi was moving eastward and westward, each spinning rapidly according to its own centre of the circle, as if treating this place as a Dantian, stretching the meridians bigger and bigger. If it weren’t for the tenacity of his meridians, he would have been at the point where his meridians would be ineffective by now.
Among the clumps of internal qi, some small droplets had appeared, which was a sign that the internal qi had been liquefied. Brandon was one step away from becoming an earth-level master. But there was no joy in his heart.
He stabilised his mind, began to control his internal force, and slowly guided it back to its normal course. But he found that this method simply did not work. Those small rotating rogue qi masses moved quickly and had a very strong attraction.
As soon as Brandon's organised qi approached, it was absorbed by the rogue qi and became a part of it. The rogue qi mass grew a little larger.
Brandon slowly opened his eyes. This can't go on like this. His huge head showed a bitter expression. The situation was worse than he had imagined.
He fell to the ground from a high altitude, and the huge impact directly knocked away his internal qi. The internal qi of all of his meridians was in a state of disorder. And before he could adjust his breath, he encountered cannibals again.
As a result, as time went by, those disordered internal forces attracted each other and gradually turned into clumped masses. And the longer it would go on, the more serious it would become. It was like a malignant tumour that would slowly grow in the meridians. If it was not dealt with in time, the best result would be that his blood flow would slow down.
