Rebirth: Super gene

Chapter 131: The death of an Empress

"Tyrant!"

As soon as Bian called his name, the last member of their team, who had been patiently waiting with his eyes closed, made a move.

In one fluid motion, the halberd was pulled out of the Ivory Serpent and Tyrant swung it full force, aiming for the throne that was in battle against Man Tian.

The water split in half under the tyrannical pressure of his attack. The copper throne weaved a shield out of all its copper snakes, but it was to no avail.

Bang!

Tyrant's tyrannical attack cut through the water and its defense mechanism. The copper throne was cleaved, almost coming undone.

Bian had to say he was surprised. This was the first time that a creature had survived the attack of Tyrant.

It made sense though, since it was a berserk super creature just like Tyrant, and his attack had been weakened by the water. It was also hindered by the restriction Bian placed on the throne dampened the force of his attack even more.

"Tian Pummel!" Man Tian delivered a barrage of powerful, devastating punches at the deformed copper throne, finally killing it.

[Berserk Super Creature Serpent Throne killed. Beast soul gained. The flesh of this creature is inedible, but you may harvest its Life Geno Essence. Consume its Life Geno Essence to gain zero to ten super geno points randomly.]

"Hmm, I didn't hear an announcement? I think the throne wasn't a live creature," Man Tian spoke while carrying the life essence to Bian. The creature was made of copper and was a throne, so it would be reasonable to assume it was just a powerful accessory of the Empress.

"No, it was alive, and you did kill it. I just got the announcement and beast soul because it died in the Empirical Aura," Bian explained.

Splash!

Yaksha's body fell into the water. Bian needed Han Yan to dig out the Aqua Fruit, but she was busy fighting against the Empress alongside the Dragon Fish King.

He couldn't even leave the water because he was still obstructing the Empress' sight, preventing her from turning one of them into a copper statue.

Although Man Tian had all of his super gene points complete, he was still lacking some mutant and sacred-blood ones. Not to mention, his gene locks were behind his fitness. It was not certain if even he could resist the copper petrification of the Empress.

"It's taking too long, and Tyrant's attack might affect Han Yan. Let's go give her a hand." Bian swam towards the Empress.

'So it's okay when the attack hits near me, huh? I thought you had changed because you seemed kind of cold, but no! You're still the same as ever deep down.' Man Tian swam alongside Bian as they approached the Empress.

She had gashes all across her armor and was bleeding all over, but her attacks had grown even stronger and fiercer.

The Dragon Fish King and Han Yan had been injured by her several times but were faring better than her.

Seeing that her opponents had stopped moving, the Empress cocked her head in confusion.

Han Yan simply pointed to her back, and an ominous premonition filled her heart. As she turned around, she struck out simultaneously toward the head of an approaching figure.

Bian blocked her thrust with the trident, while Man Tian came from below with a punch directly to her abdomen.

"Tian Blow!"

She folded like a comma and flew backward towards the blade of Han Yan, which had been waiting for her.

With quick thinking, she managed to avoid a fatal blow but was still stabbed through her chest.

Before the Empress could find respite, the Dragon Fish King shot a golden beam from its mouth, which launched her away and exacerbated her injuries.

Despite the pain, the Empress made the most of the situation. She used the momentum and headed toward the surface, Bian assumed, to seek help from God's Retribution.

A large translucent circle, visible only to him, appeared and shrunk, aiming for her heart's location in a fraction of a second.

Bian used the full force of his jadebody to toss the trident through the water to its target.

The trident began absorbing water and changed color from gold to blue and finally dark blue in a second.

It went through the Empress and came out from the other side, embedding itself in the jagged rocks.

She turned around and memorized their faces. Then with bloodied teeth, she spoke out in a vengeful voice.

"When I come back, death will be the least of your worries."

To her threat, Bian simply answered, "Who said you're coming back?"

The spirit noticed the water film covering her eyes cleared away. Bian wasn't holding the trident after all.

She was about to commit suicide to prevent Han Yan from killing her with the Falsified-Sky Sutra, but now she wanted to kill Han Yan first.

She could still take quite a bit of damage. After all, she was an Emperor-class spirit. As her eyes began lighting up, all three of them pointed to her back.

She shuddered. This was the third time they were pointing to her blind spot. Actually, it was the last time they would point to her blind spot.

The blade of Aeonshard, the ten-meter halberd, cleaved her body in half from head to toe.

Unfortunately for her, she thought Han Yan needed to kill her for her death to be permanent. Little did she know that dying in the light of the Empirical Aura was even more frightening.

Just like that, the Empress and all her ambition, which had been brewing for thousands of years, came to an end.

Han Yan moved to remove the pinecone from Yaksha's head while Man Tian followed her to finish him off.

Bian, meanwhile, went to the surface, where God's Retribution had just descended from the mountain peak with the Aqua Fruit.

Although Bian just left the water, his clothes were dry and flawless. God's Retribution didn't look impressed by this fact, though.

"Drop the two Aqua Fruits, and I might let you live," he said casually. Clearly, he didn't take Bian seriously, just like he didn't put the Empress in his eyes.

"Funny, you took the words from my mouth." Bian tensed his fist for combat. The trident was a terrific weapon underwater, but not so much on land.

If Bian had not activated Jadebody and needed to blink, he would have been critically injured the next second as God's Retribution appeared in front of him, throwing a punch to his head.

His attack was very fast and couldn't be dodged, so Bian retaliated with a punch of his own.

Bang!

A shockwave destroyed the ground beneath their feet as Bian was blown away. Tiny cracks spread from his fist to his shoulder.

'Yin energy failed to penetrate his skin but got reflected back?' Bian glanced at his right arm, which had been damaged. It wasn't an easy feat to damage his Jadebody.

God's Retribution didn't plan on giving him time to recover, though. He was already in front of him delivering another blow.

'If Yin energy didn't work, then I'll go with Yang energy!' Bian countered with another fist, and this time, an even bigger shockwave appeared.

He was sent back hundreds of steps, while God's Retribution was forced back by a step.

'If I had used Yang energy with normal flesh and bones, I wouldn't have an arm right now. I need to improve my fighting style. Jadebody makes me more than human.' Although some cracks had appeared on his fist, they were just at the surface level.

The last time Bian used Yang energy against a greater force was in the first sanctuary when he met Tyrant. His mistake had cost him his arm for most of the school year.

His body was different now. With Jadebody active, he could use moves that defied common biology.

A good example was the ability to go from zero to one hundred in an instant.

Bian disappeared from view and appeared in front of God's Retribution with an attack of his own.

"Futile!" the man retorted and craned his neck to the side, avoiding Bian's blow. He grabbed the outstretched arm and used his shoulder to hit the elbow, intent on breaking the joint.

God's Retribution opened his eyes in surprise as several cracks appeared on Bian's outstretched arm, but it didn't snap like it was supposed to.

Instead, Bian was forced overhead, and striked with a punch on the crown of his head. His jade fist went from stagnant to breaking the speed of sound in an instant.

SONIC BOOM!

The shockwave from his blow created a crater as large as five football fields. Bian was sent airborne, landing just in time to see God's Retribution walk out from the crater with blue blood dripping from his head.

His eyes narrowed as he took on a fighting pose. His carefree attitude was nowhere to be seen as he eyed Bian with murderous intent.

Bian glanced at his fist again, which had several cracks coating it. He felt like he had gone full force against a brick wall with a toddler's fist.

'I'm getting damaged regardless of whether I attack or defend, but this is good, yes this is very good.'

'I'm glad I told Tyrant to stay behind because now I can explore the full potential of my Jadebody. There is no known fighting style for me, so I have to invent one for myself!'
