Chapter 8: Chapter 8

At the time it took both Kyoka and Jin to reach the headquarters of the Seventh Squad, Jin had already processed the rewards from the system.

His blade, which could split the void in half, had killed over a thousand monsters at once, making the rewards resonate in his mind non-stop.

Many were trivial, such as life skills like cooking or mastering languages from around the world. However, there were three intriguing new abilities.

The first was [Peach Power].

Originally, this was a power exclusive to women, and it was unthinkable for a man to possess it. But the system defied all rules and granted it to him.

Peach Power adapts to the user's personality and thoughts, becoming a manifestation of their capabilities.

Thus, what Jin possessed was strong—ridiculously strong.

At the moment he thought he couldn't possibly become any stronger, his perspective was shattered once again.

His Peach Power was called [The Universal], an ability that allowed him to analyze all types of strange and unfamiliar powers and uncover their essence and origins.

Most importantly, it could also combine powers. It didn't stop at analysis; it allowed him to take a power and integrate it into his own body—or even someone else's.

The second aspect of his power, Destruction, allowed Jin to nullify an opponent's ability temporarily. If the opponent was significantly weaker, he could destroy it at its roots, leaving them powerless.

Finally, there was Connection, which enabled him to establish a link with anyone to benefit from their power.

All this strength consumed an immense amount of energy that no human could sustain. But fortunately for Jin, he was like an engine that produced energy endlessly.

Jin's grin widened. The powers of Matou and its leaders would soon become his. Despite being the strongest agent, he was still somewhat distant from being the strongest in the world.

Who hasn't had the fleeting, silly dream of becoming the strongest in the world? Jin had that dream in his previous life and still carried it now. It might seem like a foolish goal, but to him, it was the ultimate aspiration.

That is, alongside living a peaceful life, of course.

There's no contradiction in being the strongest while living peacefully, right?

He didn't want to rule the world; he just wanted a warm home, a comfortable bed, and to be the strongest.

His dream was truly simple.

But when he thought about the person beside him, Kyoka Uzen, he looked at her and felt she might be an obstacle to achieving his dream.

Not to mention Kurouka, Bismarck, and his father, who wanted him to inherit the family.

Jin placed a hand on his chin and wondered why the world wouldn't let him live a peaceful life.

"Is something on your mind, Jin?" Kyoka looked at the person beside her, who had placed his hand on his chin and seemed lost in deep thought.

"Nothing important, just wondering why the world is against me."

"…" Kyoka.

Jin returned to thinking about the second reward he had received from the system, which was the cherry on top.

[Limitless] was the name of that ability.

Originally, Jin had felt for a long time that he had reached his peak and had hit a bottleneck.

Upon acquiring this power, it was as if his ceiling vanished, allowing his strength to grow boundlessly.

Perhaps the inherent limits of the character tied to King Arthur had been hindering him from becoming stronger. But now, he felt his entire body had reached an unprecedented state.

If the previous version of him could wipe out an entire city, he could now erase a country from existence.

Looking at the future possibilities made his grin widen unconsciously.

He wasn't a battle maniac, but he wouldn't say no to a good fight.

"We're here." Kyoka's voice snapped him out of his thoughts as he looked at the house, which had a slightly old Japanese style.

It was called a Washitsu.

As soon as he stepped out of the carriage, he saw three individuals waiting for Kyoka.

A girl with dark blue hair and golden eyes, another with short blonde hair and green eyes, and a young girl with pink hair and blue eyes.

The common trait among them, except for the young girl, was that they were all attractive women.

Well, Jin was much more interested in their abilities than in them personally.

"Chief, welcome back… a man?" The dark blue-haired girl greeted Kyoka but paused upon seeing Jin.

Meanwhile, the other two girls had different reactions.

"To think there would be a day when I'd be underestimated." Jin chuckled and didn't hold it against them. After all, they lived in a world where only women typically possessed power, and it was rare to find a man with any significant abilities.

Even if a man did have power, it was usually negligible.

The demon defense forces in Matou were different from the organization Jin was part of.

Thus, Jin had already anticipated an unfriendly reaction.

But to his surprise, Kyoka stepped in front of him and spoke on his behalf.

"He's my guest, and he's also an incredibly strong agent, so I advise you not to underestimate him. He might even join us."

Jin waved a hand in greeting during Kyoka's explanation, but his hand froze at her last sentence.

"Kyoka, didn't we agree I'd return to the human world?"

"Being a member doesn't prevent you from coming back occasionally."

"No, I belong to another organization."

"Borrowing is a lovely term."

"I'm not—"

As the two argued heatedly, the dark blue-haired girl interjected between them.

"Could you both stop for a moment? Chief, have you forgotten to introduce us to him?" She stood between them and took a close look at Jin's face.

She had to admit he was extremely handsome, even slightly to her taste.

"My name is Hiratsuka Jin, and I am an agent of the Organization for Combatting the Supernatural." Jin glanced at the reactions of the two remaining girls—the blonde and the pink-haired one—who tilted their heads in confusion.

"Kyoka, do they even know what the organization is?"

Kyoka shook her head, and Jin suspected she wanted to make him look a bit ridiculous.

Keeping a blank expression, Jin decided he'd see her reaction when he stole her power as payback.

After a warm introduction, everyone gathered in the reception room, and Jin finally learned their names.

Kyoka Uzen, the Seventh Squad leader.

Himari Azuma, the deputy leader with dark blue hair and golden eyes.

Shushu Suruga, a fighter with short blonde hair and green eyes.

Nei Ookawamura, a scout and the pink-haired young girl.

"And finally, honorary member Hiratsuka Jin." Jin looked silently at Kyoka. He decided to give up arguing and would simply leave when the time came.

Initially, he had been in a hurry to return, only to discover that time flowed differently here.

Spending a month here equated to a day in the outside world.

So, he wasn't in too much of a rush to return.

Instead, he wanted to understand the extent of his new abilities and explore his limits, and there was no better place than Matou.

"Jin, after the introductions, would you mind a training session to stretch your muscles a little?" Hearing Kyoka's suggestion, everyone turned to Jin, curious about his response.

"I don't think that's a good idea, Chief. He's just a man—" Himari Azuma tried to dissuade Kyoka, believing that, no matter how strong he was, it was impossible to contend with squad leaders.

"Thanks, but I don't need anyone worrying about me." Jin interrupted her, stood beside her, and patted her head lightly.

He hesitated briefly upon noticing her face redden and rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment.

It was a habit he had developed since he was usually older, but he stopped himself when he remembered that Himari was actually older than him.

However, because of her smaller frame compared to his, he got confused.

"Sorry." When Himari turned to scold him, she saw his sincere apology with a genuine smile on his face.

She remained silent and decided to forgive him this time, unaware that her face had turned as red as a tomato.

"Being too handsome is a crime." Kyoka sighed as she watched their interaction. However, thinking about the upcoming fight between them, she felt her blood boil.

Everyone moved toward the training grounds, and as they walked through the corridors, Shushu approached Jin discreetly from behind.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Hiratsuka."

"The pleasure is mine, Miss Suruga." Jin looked at the lively girl, and as he observed her, he noticed the playfulness in her eyes.

Perhaps she wanted to scare him a little?

"Mr. Hiratsuka, even though you claim to be strong, let me tell you: the leaders are on a completely different level, especially our Chief, Kyoka Uzen."

"Really? What makes them so special in your eyes?" Jin understood her good intentions, even though her approach might have seemed slightly off.

Even if it came in poor taste, he had dealt with many who had a bad sense of humor and loved teasing.

"They're terrifyingly strong, and our Chief is unique because she reached the level of leaders without using her own power." Jin inwardly agreed. Reaching the pinnacle without relying on inherent talents was indeed something to be proud of.

"Thank you for your concern, Miss Shushu." Jin leaned in slightly and whispered in her ear, causing her to blush in embarrassment.

She had laughed at Himari earlier, but now she understood.

He was a dangerous monster to approach.

And yet, Shushu continued walking beside him, secretly anticipating the fight in her heart.

If his reaction had been fear or concern, she would have felt disdain for him. But what she saw was the same calm smile he had worn from the beginning.

The one genuinely tense here was Kyoka Uzen, but she managed to keep her composure, so no one noticed.

Upon reaching the training grounds, the two stood opposite each other. Kyoka's stance was completely serious from the start, showing no intention of holding back, while Jin held an ordinary iron sword.

"You'll begin on my signal." Himari stood as the referee, her hand raised.

The moment her hand dropped, the fight would officially begin.

"Begin." Himari dropped her hand, and both figures disappeared in a blur, their speed signaling the start of an intense battle.
